- In 1910 the British Antarctic Expedition, led by Capt. Robert F. Scott, embarks from Lyttleton, NZ on a quest to become the first to reach the South Pole.
- A crippled mailman is in love with a maid who lives in the same building he does in one of the city's poor neighborhoods. She, however, is in love with a wealthy, handsome young man. Desperate to win her love, he begins to intercept love letters they send to each other and replaces them with his own messages, which each thinks is from the other. His plan seems to be succeeding, but then something happens that bring tragic results to them all.
- The Allen spinsters adopt Bradley Nickerson, who grows up with Gussie Baker, the little girl next door. Fifteen years later he is first mate of the Thomas Doane, owned by Granny Baker. A plot to sink the ship is averted by Bradley and a sailor, but ultimately the ship is sabotaged. The insurance company hires Bradley to investigate the wreck, but Sam Hammond, a deep sea diver, also in love with Gussie, is tampering with Bradley's diving gear at the moment a fire breaks out. Rowing to the burning ship, Bradley rescues Hammond, who then leaves him stranded, but Gussie rows out to save him, realizing at last the depth of her love.
- The story of a wealthy young flapper, Theodora Bland (Pauline Garon), and the amorous adventures and misadventures she has after being expelled from a fashionable and costly east-coast boarding school.
- While a Russian refugee girl attempts to get work in Constantinople to support herself and her grandfather, a Turkish Bey attempts to make her his mistress.
- Through the efforts of her press agent, Maggie Casey achieves fame as Princess Sonya in a New York City revue. Maggie becomes involved with Tom Gregory, whose wife learns of their affair and is herself the victim of a publicity-kidnapping case. The theater manager's attempt to attack Maggie is thwarted by a fire, from which she is rescued by her sweetheart, Joe. The Gregorys are reconciled, and all ends happily.

- Geraldine Brent, a tomboyish girl, is separated from her mother and taken east by wealthy relatives. In her absence, her mother is dispossessed and sent to the poorhouse. "Gerry" learns of this action, unmasks the culprits--mortgage-holder Masters and oilman Colonel Pettijohn, who have discovered that the property is rich in oil--and puts matters aright.
- A farmer widower whose servant Rosine raises his two children is seduced by a worthless girl who moves in with them. She manages to have Rosine thrown out of the house. Unhappiness opens the eyes of the farmer who gets rid of the girl and starts a romance with Rosine.
