- Korsakov's Syndrome, Brain Damage from Alcoholism-Induced Vitamin Deficiencies, was discovered by a different Korsakov.
- Was a member of "The Five", a group of 19th Century Russian composers who promoted nationalist influences in their music. The other members were Mily Balakirev, Alexander Borodin, César Cui, and Modest Mussorgsky. Unlike his colleagues, whose musical careers were beset with personal and professional issues, Rimsky-Korsakov was a highly disciplined workaholic who composed steadily until his death.
