- Phillips came to note as one of the stars in a series of two-reel silent screen comedies with Universal, 'The Collegians' (1926-1929), as an accident-prone youth. His career faded after the coming of sound. He spent most of the 1930's and 40's playing assorted henchmen in second feature westerns and potboilers for Poverty Row studios.
