- Pharmacist who invented the soft drink Pepsi as a way to cure dyspepsia. Incorporated the Pepsi-Cola Company on December 24, 1902. At the peak of his success, Bradham had authorized franchises in over 24 states, but was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1923 due to the government's control of sugar prices during World War I. When the government lifted the price controls, the cost of sugar skyrocketed, and Bradham could not cover the costs of production. Pepsi-Cola's assets were sold to the Craven Holding Company for $35,000.
