In 2007, a 77 meter length fragment (from Act IV) was newly found, and was presented at the Opening Gala of "CineFest 2007: 4th International Festival of German Film Heritage", along with the 20 meter length fragments from Act I that had already been preserved. It is available on Pal DVD as a supplement of its catalog "Film im Herzen Europas" (ISBN: 3883779261) and has also become available DVD alone in 2008.
The second reel of The Golem (1915) was recently discovered in the same Argentinian archive that yielded long thought lost footage of Metropolis. The newly discovered footage of The Golem (1915) was shown at the Stummfilmtage Bonn 2017 on August 13, 2017.
This lost film is often confused with director Paul Wegener second and readily available interpretation of the legend; The Golem (1920). To add to the confusion, Danish director Urban Gad reportedly made his own Golem movie in 1916, although it is doubtful that Gad's movie was ever completed or even made it into production.
