3.8 First Wife
Well, I suppose there are probably worse ways to find out about your husband's other wife, but not many. The other shoe dropped on the latest episode of Outlander, and it made for some emotionally-riveting television. After last week's instalment, which felt like phoning it in for this character-driven drama, Outlander delved deeper into the complications of reuniting with someone you love after two decades apart. First Wife wasn't always pretty, but it was always true.
Following the burning of Jamie's print shop, Claire and Jamie return home to Lallybroch with Young Ian in tow. But Claire's homecoming is not as simple as she might have liked, which is...

Where is an ill-wish when you need it?
Yep, this week’s Outlander finally introduces us to the wife that Jamie’s been keeping from Claire… and it’s Laoghaire. If you by some chance are just dropping back into this series after a while (aka if the mention of that name doesn’t instantly invoke a burning rage), she was the young woman at Castle Leoch who had such a huge crush on Jamie, she nearly sent Claire to the stake for witchcraft.

The main issue with “First Wife” is that it’s just sort of...boring. The episode at least attempts to fill in some of the blanks of Jamie’s life between Helwater and Edinburgh and is the first episode since the reunion to truly recognize how difficult it is for two people to just resume their lives together after 20…

If you thought that Outlander would stabilize with Jamie and Claire in the same century and on the same continent, you’ll be disappointed. No love is more true than Jamie and Claire’s, but life has never been easy for them. Why should that change just because a few decades have passed? Claire’s return to Jamie has been chalk full of complications, much more than either one of them could have expected. There is one particular, major complication between Jamie and Claire. This is the episode that Claire finds out she is the “First Wife”. In the chaos of trying to

Tori Spelling drops a shocking confession on the season two premiere of True Tori.
Looks like season two of True Tori is shaping up to be just as candid as its controversial first season.
In a preview for Tuesday night's season two premiere, Tori, 41, reveals she slept with her husband Dean McDermott, 47, the first night they met.
Not a huge deal except they were both married at that time.
Dean was married to his first wife, Mary Jane Eustace, while Tori was also married to her first husband, Charlie Shanian. The two met in July 2005 while filming the Lifetime TV movie Mind Over Murder.

Hughes (born on July 29, 1952, in Melbourne) was 61. Wendy Hughes’ film career kicked off in the mid-’70s, with Tim Burstall’s psychological drama ‘Jock’ Petersen / Petersen (1974), in which she plays the wife of a college professor who becomes romantically involved with a married student (Jack Thompson). "I spent a lot of the time naked and doing sex scenes," Hughes would later recall about her work in ‘Jock’ Petersen, "because in the seventies you all had to do that." In 1979, Hughes landed a key supporting role in the international arthouse hit My Brilliant Career, Gillian Armstrong’s late 19th-century-set tale of an independent-minded young woman (a Katharine Hepburn...

Making time for her faith in the midst of her busy career schedule, Eva Longoria showed up for church in North Hollywood, California on Saturday (August 18).
While looking absolute gorgeous in a floral black-and-white dress, the "Desperate Housewives" beauty ran into "Prison Break" actor Amaury Nolasco following the services.
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old actress decided to give her support to Hillary Clinton for the 2016 Presidential elections.
During a run in with TMZ, Miss Longoria was asked if she would help campaign for the former First Wife.
"Absolutely," Eva proclaimed to the pesky paparazzi.
Although Hillary hasn't officially announced plans for the upcoming elections, she has a strong backing in Hollywood. Other supporters to Miss Clinton's cause include Lionel Richie, Chris Rock, and and Barbara Stresiand.

Lyricist behind some of the greatest pop hits of the 20th century
By contrast with his songwriter partner Burt Bacharach, whose suavely youthful looks belonged in a 1960s Martini ad, the lyricist Hal David, who has died at the age of 91, resembled a president of a suburban Rotary Club: a conservative, suit-and-tie figure from an earlier generation, modest and unassuming in conversation. But it was David's words as much as Bacharach's melodies that captured an audience for such songs as Anyone Who Had a Heart, I Say a Little Prayer, Walk on By, (There's) Always Something There to Remind Me, Alfie, Trains and Boats and Planes, (They Long to Be) Close to You, Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head and Do You Know the Way to San Jose?
Their period of greatest productivity, between 1962 and 1968, coincided with the heyday of their partnership with Dionne Warwick, the gospel-trained singer who gave voice to their finest collaborations.

Los Angeles — Hal David, the stylish, heartfelt lyricist who teamed with Burt Bacharach on dozens of timeless songs for movies, television and a variety of recording artists in the 1960s and beyond, has died. He was 91.
David died of complications from a stroke Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to his wife Eunice David.
He had suffered a major stroke in March and was stricken again on Tuesday, she said.
"Even at the end, Hal always had a song in his head," Eunice David said. "He was always writing notes, or asking me to take a note down, so he wouldn't forget a lyric."
Bacharach and David were among the most successful teams in modern history, with top 40 hits including "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head," "(They Long to Be) Close to You" and "That's What Friends Are For." Although most associated with Dionne Warwick, their...

R.L. Burnside first recorded at age 40, remained obscure until 65, and was a legend at 75. Born on November 23, 1926 in Oxford, Mississippi, he spent most of his life in his rural native area, where he worked as a sharecropper as late as 1979, though he lived in Chicago and Memphis for short periods. His appearance in the Robert Mugge/Robert Palmer 1992 documentary movie and soundtrack album Deep Blues and his acclaimed 1994 Fat Possum album Too Bad Jim seemed to come out of nowhere to catch the attention of not only blues fans but also the underground rock crowd. But R.L. (pronounced "Rule" by his friends) had been on an Arhoolie compilation LP in 1967, and as his fame rose, several pre-Deep Blues albums reappeared with wider distribution.
Where did Burnside's striking style come from? The decline of the Mississippi sharecropping system and the region's subsequent economic slump led to many railroad lines being discontinued.

She’s earned five Grammy awards for her music, and most recently was in London for the Hunger Project, which is her chosen charity for this season of Celebrity Apprentice. Then again, she’s always been a green celebrity. She earned some notoriety in 2002 when she was caught and arrested for carrying joints in Miami International Airport. From IMDb: Although Warwick had a handful of Top Ten hits during the 1960s, many of her songs were not given the chance to shine. Such songs include "Any Old Time of the Day," "Here Where There Is Love," "The Wine Is Young," "Check Out Time," "Wives and Lovers," "Only Love Can Break a Heart," "Knowing When to Leave," "(They Long to Be) Close to You,...
