It would appear not just Fatal Attraction (1987) was inspired by this film, but also Pretty Woman (1990) "borrowed heavily" from it: the latter also features their own walk down Rodeo Drive; makeover scene; male hotel receptionist gaping at the made-over heroine with utter admiration; gorgeous hotel penthouse, and more.
Yvette Mimieux' mother was only Mexican by birth, that is to say, by nationality as in what is on a person's passport, much like Olivia de Havilland was "Japanese" by birth only. Her origins were European, just like Olivia's.
2 years later, the actress who played Yvette Mimieux' (Linda) mother and the boy who played Simon MacCorkindale's (Michael) son would reunite in a Highway to Heaven title. Not to be confused with his doppelganger---the cute kid from Kindergarten Cop---this boy playing Michael Glenn's son is most famous for Small Wonder. He somehow grew up to frequent strippers, who took off with all his money, and he ended up homeless and living under bridges. He quit acting circa 1989. His appearance in the 2020's is quite changed, and he resembles a biker.
Simon MacCorkindale and Jonathan Goldsmith---aka "The Most Interesting Man in the World" of Dos Equis beer commercials---had already performed together in the same show, the previous year, in the Manimal pilot. Here, they however share no scenes together. (Goldsmith starred in many '70s TV series, including Starsky & Hutch and Charlie's Angels. He plays the creeper in this---the blind date at the bar, who drives Linda home.)
