Logan “Stan” Garner, a train coordinator for movie and TV productions who often played a train conductor on film, died May 20 in Arizona. He was 83.
Born in Pasadena, he lived in Southern California until moving to Arizona in 2007. Garner was a founding partner with Short Line Enterprises, where he restored and operated 19th century steam locomotives and passenger cars for museums and excursion trains.
After film and TV producers began requesting trains, the company created a movie railroad backlot, which was used for productions until the late 1980s. As owner of the Train Source, he became a sought-out train coordinator, assembling locomotives, providing passenger and freight cars, creating sets for train crossings, tracks and stations and providing personnel for TV productions.
He became a SAG member and was often cast as a train conductor or railroad worker in productions.
Garner worked on over 300 feature films, TV episodes, movies of the week and music videos.

To combat the ominous atmosphere of the Ides of March, Netflix has another Lindsay Lohan film, “Irish Wish,” which is now streaming. The follow-up to “Falling for Christmas” in Lohan’s deal with the streamer to make two films, “Irish Wish” focuses on love, luck and a little bit of magic in the rom-com that arrives right before Saint Patrick’s Day.
Lohan portrays a smart book editor, except when it comes to matters of her heart. It takes a wish granted by a mystical woman out in the beautiful Irish countryside to get Maddie to realize that what she hopes and dreams for might not be what she wants or should want in life.

Jane Seymour has given fans an update on plans to revive her classic 1990s TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. In a new interview with The Messenger, Seymour, who starred as the titular Dr. Michaela “Mike” Quinn in the 1800s set series, revealed that one unnamed network recently passed on the project, who allegedly told her, “they weren’t interested in Westerns.” “We’ve actually got one [episode] written, and we’ve got the whole series planned out,” Seymour said. “We just took it to one of the networks, and they said that they weren’t interested in Westerns.” “I think it’s really crazy,” she continued. “There seems to be a lot of very successful Westerns, so I didn’t get that at all.” Indeed, there have been a number of successful Western shows in recent years, most notably Taylor Sheridan‘s super hit Yellowstone, which itself has led to several spinoffs.

The suits don’t want any Westerns, Jane Seymour says.
The actress said in an interview by The Messenger website that she recently pitched an idea for a Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman reboot.
“We’ve actually got one written, and we’ve got the whole series planned out,” Seymour said. “We just took it to one of the networks, and they said that they weren’t interested in Westerns.”
That’s even though Yellowstone and several other Taylor Sheridan stories have become giants.
“I think it’s really crazy,” she said. “There seems to be a lot of very successful Westerns, so I didn’t get that at all.”
Seymour was equally baffled by a follow-up idea, which presumably came from the same executive.
“It was pitched to me last night, believe it or not, to do Dr. Quinn as a contemporary piece,” Seymour said. “I’m going, ‘Why?’ The whole point of Dr.

Tis the season for the seasoned!
All the other Christmas movies can go ahead, pack it up, and go home.
Why? Because Ladies of the '80s: A Divas Christmas just has that magic.
No one can quite deliver like veteran actresses, and there wasn't a single moment of this film that wasn't delightful.
Lifetime can strike gold when it comes to reuniting stars of yesteryear, from series to films for productions like this, especially Christmas films.
A Christmas Spark was the perfect Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman reunion and was one of the network's best Christmas films in recent years.
They've also succeeded in bringing us little reunions every holiday season.
But reuniting and bringing together some of the most iconic women from soaps was no easy feat, and it made for a holiday film that left viewers squealing in glee whether they were soap fans or not.

It’s an understatement to say fans were upset when CBS canceled Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman 25 years ago. “I got more letters on that show than on all the rest of the shows I’ve canceled combined,” Les Moonves, then CBS Television’s president and CEO, told the Deseret News at the time. Nevertheless, the network upheld Dr. Quinn’s cancellation, citing declining ratings and an aging fanbase. And so the Season 6 finale, “A New Beginning,” which aired on May 16, 1998, became the series finale. But that episode wasn’t the end of the Dr. Quinn story. Since then, CBS has produced a pair of TV movies, fans, and novelists have advanced the show’s narrative in prose form, and star Jane Seymour started campaigning for a reboot. Doctor’s orders: Keep reading to see how creators have expanded upon the original show in the last quarter-century. The TV movies Following the original series’ cancelation,...

Bruce Miller has stepped down from his post as showrunner of the “The Handmaid’s Tale,” passing his duties on the sixth and final season to Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang, who already served as writers and executive producers.
Miller has showrun the Hulu drama since its premiere in 2017. He will remain on staff as a writer and executive producer on Season 6 while moving on to focus on developing a screen adaptation “The Testaments,” the “Handmaid’s Tale” sequel that original author Margaret Atwood wrote in 2019.

There’s a changing of the guard in the behind-the-scenes world of Gilead.
The Handmaid’s Tale showrunner Bruce Miller, who has steered Hulu’s Emmy-winning drama since its start, has handed over day-to-day oversight of the Elisabeth Moss series. Longtime writers and exec producers Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang have been named co-showrunners for the sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, taking over the role previously held by Miller.
Miller has been steering development of The Testaments, author Margaret Atwood’s sequel to Handmaid’s Tale, at the same time as he’s been plotting the final season of the flagship series. With too much on his plate, Miller opted to focus on The Testaments, with Tuchman and Chang taking over the everyday decision-making on the flagship series. Miller, sources say, will still be highly involved with the final season and will write two episodes of the season.

Before landing her most well-known role as Michaela Quinn on “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” in 1993, Jane Seymour had over three dozen TV credits to her name, most of which were movies or limited series. In 1988, her supporting turn in one of them – “Onassis: The Richest Man in the World” – brought her what remains her only Primetime Emmy award. The film, which focuses on Aristotle Onassis‘s life and career, features Seymour as his longtime romantic partner, Maria Callas, who he left to marry Jacqueline Kennedy.
Seymour, who began her acting career at age 19, was 37 when she took home the Emmy for Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actress. At the time, she was the sixth youngest woman to ever win the award, and she now ranks 10th. Of the actresses who place higher than her, two nabbed their prizes as teenagers.

Even with an Emmy, Golden Globe, and a trophy case full of other awards, Jane Seymour still loves acting. And the 71-year-old is still on her game at the center of Harry Wild. In the Irish Acorn TV series, Seymour plays a retired literature professor who goes into crime-solving following a mugging. Of course, the respected actress is no stranger to starring in her own show. Who could ever forget her turn as the titular Dr. Michaela “Mike” Quinn on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman for six seasons and two movies? Before she heads to the 61st Monte-Carlo Television Festival, we caught up with Seymour as she reflects on the western drama’s impact and if we’ll ever see the good physician again. Tell me about your history with the Monte-Carlo TV Festival. Jane Seymour: I’ve been to the last three, four. I received a Golden Nymph one year.

“Write what you know” are words to live by for any writer. Taylor Sheridan, showrunner and architect of the fast-expanding “Yellowstone” universe, excels at creating modern Western characters because he is exactly that.
When Variety catches up with Sheridan for an in-depth look at the narrative worlds he is crafting for Paramount TV platforms, it is at the Schmersal horse ranch near Scottsdale, Ariz. Keen-eyed viewers may recognize the location from “The Last Cowboy,” the reality series that Sheridan executive produces.
Sheridan arrives for the interview outfitted in a cowboy hat, aviator sunglasses, a denim jacket and jeans, a torn white T-shirt and boots with spurs that jangle every time he moves his feet. He has just come from an equestrian workout, riding a horse in a large covered arena where he has practiced reining, or leading, the animal through a series of spins, stops and circles.

Welcome to Random Roles, wherein we talk to actors about the characters who defined their careers. The catch: They don’t know beforehand what roles we’ll ask them to talk about.
The actor: Since making her film debut in 1969, Jane Seymour has experienced a number of career renaissances and repeatedly managed to reinvent herself as an actor, something that happens all too infrequently in Hollywood. While you can attribute part of her success to her ability to bounce between high drama and lowbrow comedy seemingly without blinking an eye, it’s just as likely because she doesn’t like to lose. With a filmography that includes spies (Live And Let Die), Cylons (Battlestar Galactica), century-spanning romance (Somewhere In Time), frat-boy comedy (Wedding Crashers), and life in a frontier town (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), Seymour keeps audiences guessing as to where she’s going to turn up next. What do a parasite, a sentient imaginary friend, and parenthood all have in common?
Okay, parenthood might not effect your personality quite as drastically as the others, but on Chicago Med Season 2 Episode 13, Natalie does point out that it changes the way you think. We just usually see that as a positive change.
A lot of times, episode titles are really self explanatory, or don't reveal any deeper meaning. Especially when shows go with some kind of regimented format like Med has -- all of Season 1 had single word titles, this year has two words, next year will be three, etc.
But "Theseus' Ship" is a pretty obscure reference, and there were no Greek people or boats in this episode, so I went Googling. I went through a pretty serious Greek mythology phase (thanks, Xena: Warrior Princess!), but I'll admit to having to turn to Wikipedia for this one.
