Can you imagine a film where the Tardis doors swung open to reveal Tom Cruise, with Pamela Anderson potentially at his side, all under the visionary direction of Steven Spielberg?
Well, few Hollywood ‘what-ifs’ are as intriguing as the renowned director’s involvement with Doctor Who, with reports of megastars and massive cinematic overhauls being considered. Spielberg has mostly picked his own projects, reading books to adapt, finding real-life tales to dramatize, and then working with writers to develop screenplays. So, when rumors of his involvement in the Doctor Who film surfaced in the early 1990s, Whovians went into a frenzy, latching onto any hint of this project.

Though the rumored project never materialized, perhaps Spielberg should be grateful his Doctor Who movie never happened, for it preserved the quintessentially British charm of our beloved Time Lord.

Focus Features has unveiled the first official trailer for Piece by Piece, a Lego version of the story of musician Pharrell Williams. The mystical realm of Harry Potter serves as the perfect backdrop for a go-to comfort movie. Under the aegis of directors like Chris Columbus and David Yates, the movie adaptations of the globally cherished novel series were a prominent success. But would the wizardly creations have been as revered, had someone like the three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg helmed the project?

Steven Spielberg is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers of the generation. The director has helmed some of the greatest films of the past few decades such as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Empire of the Sun, Saving Private Ryan, and more. He is known for his hopeful storytelling which favors optimism in the face of adversity.
While the filmmaker has crafted some of the most memorable films of the past few decades, he has also helmed a few duds that have not met expectations. One of his most infamous failures is the Peter Pan film Hook, which starred Robin Williams. However, the film was reportedly pursued by Michael Jackson, who always wanted to play Peter Pan.

Pretty much every single work from Steven Spielberg is an immersive cinematic gem, with pieces like those from the Jurassic Park franchise and Schindler’s List being some of the best works credited to his name. And yet, there is still one piece of critically acknowledged masterwork from the early stages of his career that the filmmaker isn’t exactly satisfied with.

Among the vast pool of talent in Hollywood, only a few have managed to bring across a resounding impact not only in terms of the box office but also by catapulting into everyday pop culture. The latest entrant to that hallowed fame is the cinematic genius and the 21st-century Dune adaptation’s director, Denis Villeneuve, whose worth has found immense praise from fellow film pioneer, Steven Spielberg.

Director Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" is a stone-cold masterpiece -- a fantastic adaptation (even if it is vastly different from the book), a stunning achievement in filmmaking, and a revolutionary moment in the history of special effects. Less praised but still fantastic is Spielberg's "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (which some consider to be the best movie in the franchise). This movie adds to the lore of the series by introducing Isla Sorna and other islands we hear about but never see in the Muertes Archipelago.
Speaking with CinemaBlend, writer David Koepp explained how, during a scene where Jeff Goldblum and the rest of the cast approaches Isla Sorna, their boat stops short of shore. In the final movie, the captain says they don't want to approach the island for rumors of missing boats and dead crewmen. In reality, that was a hard pivot needed when the boat...

Given how trailers and even teasers give away most of the film’s plot, I tend to just watch 10–20 seconds of it and make up my mind. Under Paris had me hooked based on its premise that there’s a shark in the Seine. As a fan of shark films, I didn’t need to know much more before diving into it. Now, seemingly unrelated to that, I was watching a video by Patrick Willems about what’s going to be the next big thing in the world of entertainment after superhero movies. While on the topic of legacy sequels, Willems mentioned Steven Spielberg. That got me thinking: while Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park got the legacy sequel treatment twice, why hasn’t anybody done a legacy sequel for Jaws? Sure, the sequels were bad, but they were profitable. It’s considered the foundation stone for shark films as well...

Brian Levant's 1994 film version of "The Flintstones" is a classic example of how major studio blockbusters, no matter now successful, can vanish entirely from the public consciousness. "The Flintstones" is rarely regarded in 2024, often seen only as footnote in its actors' careers, or perhaps a whimsical blunder not worth remembering. Those of us alive in 1994 recall the massive advertising glut that came with "The Flintstones," as well as the toy tie-ins, the magazine covers, the Universal Studios attractions, the Williams pinball machine. "The Flintstones" was a studio tentpole writ large, boasting a beloved, decades-old IP and a dazzling cast of celebrities; John Goodman, Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell, and Elizabeth Taylor appeared, while the film boasted cameos from Laraine Newman, Jay Leno, and the B-52's.
Notably, "Jurassic Park" cinematographer Dean Cundey shot the film, while "Jurassic Park" Michael Lantieri similarly served as SFX supervisor. Everything was super-slick and polished nearly to death.

Universal’s follow-up to the Jurassic World films is set to land some heavyweight talent in the form of Mahershala Ali.
Another big casting story has popped up for the next film in the Jurassic World saga. There’s still plenty we don’t know about this film, including the title – although Jurassic City is one name that’s been floating around.
The project is set to shoot at Sky Studios Elstree next month and unbelievably, arrive in cinemas exactly a year later. However, with production looming the project is still furiously locking down key members of its cast and if today’s story is accurate, the film has just landed another big name.
The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Mahershala Ali is in talks to join the ensemble and add some heavyweight artistic credibility to the picture. The Moonlight actor is a two-time Oscar winner, picking up the storied...

Even with the cameras due to start rolling within the next couple of weeks, the rush of casting news on the new Jurassic World film remains unstoppable, like a T-rex crashing through a deactivated electric fence. Today brings word, via The Hollywood Reporter, that double Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is primed to make a rare foray into blockbuster territory to snag a role among the dinosaurs.
The Creator's Gareth Edwards is busy preparing to make the giant new film, working from a script by Jurassic Park veteran scribe David Koepp.

One fandom's loss is another's gain, apparently. While Marvel Studios has been undergoing something of an identity crisis in recent years, capped by Disney's Bob Iger actually promising to slow down production of movies and shows during a shareholder call while Marvel's Brad Winderbaum recently copped to the shortcomings of the #ItsAllConnected approach, one of the bigger casualties has been the shaky status of the announced "Blade" movie. Starring the great Mahershala Ali as the eponymous vampire hunter, the film has undergone quite a bit of behind-the-scenes chaos, from directorial changes to significant amounts of creative overhaul -- to the extent, in fact, that the star reportedly came this close to parting ways with the studio altogether. Well, Marvel fans can consider this latest development as yet another troublesome sign. Dinosaur fans, meanwhile, have our permission to rejoice.

We’ve been waiting a few years to see if and when the Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade reboot that’s set to star Mahershala Ali of Green Book is going to go into production – and while we continue to wait, Ali is in talks to join former MCU star Scarlett Johansson in the new Jurassic World movie that’s in the works at Universal! As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Ali tends to be very selective and usually avoids Hollywood blockbuster-type projects (aside from Blade), so getting him to sign on for a role would be a big “get” for this project.
If Ali’s deal closes, he’ll be sharing the screen with Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. Mahershala Ali might be paying a visit to Isla Nublar.
The Oscar-winning actor is in talks to join the new “Jurassic World” sequel, which is in development at Universal. Once he signs on the dotted line, he’ll join the already announced cast of Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Rupert Friend.
Gareth Edwards will direct the yet-to-be-titled film, written by original “Jurassic Park” screenwriter David Koepp. Universal plans to release the action-adventure in theaters on July 2, 2025.
Plot details haven’t been unveiled, but this new installment is expected to ignite a new trilogy following the three “Jurassic Park” and three “Jurassic World” films. In 2022, “Jurassic World Dominion” wrapped up the sequel trilogy with $1 billion globally.

The next installment in the Jurassic World franchise continues to build its main cast, with THR reporting today that Mahershala Ali (Marvel’s upcoming Blade) is now in talks.
Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Asteroid City) and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) are also on board to star.
Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, The Creator) will be directing the new installment, with original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp returning to write the screenplay.
Jurassic World returns to theaters on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned for more.
The new movie is expected to usher in a brand new Jurassic Era with Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. Don’t expect the original trilogy’s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, either. The new Jurassic World, from what we gather, plans to take the franchise in a new direction, with plot details under wraps.

Mahershala Ali, the two-time Oscar winner who was last seen in Netflix’s hit thriller Leave the World Behind, is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson in Universal’s new Jurassic World feature.
Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo are already on the manifest for the project that is stomping toward a production start in mid-June in London with Gareth Edwards in the director’s chair.
The studio is keeping plot details hidden in a can of Barbasol. David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), penned the script for the new installment.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, who have shepherded the modern Jurassic franchise, will produce through Kennedy/Marshall. Steven Spielberg, who kicked off the franchise with Jurassic Park, is exec producing through Amblin Entertainment.
Universal has set a theatrical release of July 2, 2025, which means it will be hustling like a velociraptor in postproduction.

Being recognized as the most commercially successful director of all time, Steven Spielberg has prominently inscribed his name in history. However, few people know that long before starting such iconic franchises, as Jaws, Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park, the pioneer of the modern blockbuster had a very strong start as a full-length director.
Indeed, back in 1971, when Spielberg was only 25, he made a TV movie that holds up today. More than that, it can even be dubbed the most inventive film ever made by the accomplished filmmaker.
The movie’s seemingly straight-forward plot revolves around a salesman on his way to meet a client. He is driving his car through rural California, but his calm trip is about to be disturbed by a tanker truck driver, who starts chasing him down a highway.

After being blown away by the Prime Video adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six, I decided to circle back and read the author’s debut novel, the “tragic love story” drama Forever, Interrupted… and as the story went on, I became more and more surprised that it hadn’t yet received an adaptation of some sort. It seemed ready to be brought to the screen as a heartbreaking and heartwarming movie or TV show, with solid roles for two lead actresses. Well, now it’s getting its adaptation. Glamour reports (via Deadline) that Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) are set to star in a limited series adaptation of Forever, Interrupted that’s coming our way from A24 and the Netflix streaming service.

Glen Powell may have a lock on a slew of beloved 1970s and 1980s franchise reboots, but the actor almost traveled to a galaxy far, far away a decade ago.

Veteran filmmaker Steven Spielberg has a knack for bringing people to tears, be it from his star-studded masterpieces of work like Schindler’s List or simply by his words. Surprisingly enough, one of his victims was none other than the iconic Loki portraying Hollywood heartthrob in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Hiddleston.

Let’s start off with a short recap. The Jurassic World trilogy starring Chris Pratt continued where Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park trilogy left off and expanded the universe of Michael Crichton’s original novel. Now, while Dominion was supposed to be the last movie in the series, it was soon confirmed that the studio was not giving up on the franchise and that a new trilogy of movies was planned. David Leitch was originally attached to the movie, but he later departed and was replaced by Gareth Edwards, who will be helming the film. We have also received some casting updates, and the most recent report seemingly reveals that we have the three main characters from the movie.
