Cruella (2021)
Great film and great soundtrack!!
This was a great film! Emma Stone was fantastic as Cruella. I wasn't really bothered about watching this to begin with as I thought it was going to be another live action remake. I was wrong. It was its own story and so different to what I was expecting. I hope they make more alternative live action films like this, which aren't just remakes.
Baby's Day Out (1994)
Great family film to watch with young children
This film reminds me a bit of home alone, with the bad guys getting injured in a slapstick kind of way.
I watched it with my 5 year old and she was in absolute stitches. It was very enjoyable to watch with the family.
DC Super Hero Girls (2015)
Great show for young girls.
Our 5 year old daughter loves this. It's great to have a program which showcases all the female superheros. She has been told at school by some boys that she cannot play superheros because she is a girl, so watching this gave her some confidence to enlighten these boys.
This is aimed at children, but as an adult, I quite enjoyed it too.
Feel the Beat (2020)
Enjoyable.
I found this movie really enjoyable but I also completely agree with previous reviews. The main character is very unlikeable. I don't like the message that it's ok to abuse these young girls so much that they end up crying in a bathroom stall (this little girl ends up quitting and isn't even apologised to).
Although I like the introduction of the little boy into dancing, I don't like that he is introduced by rescuing the 'poor, little, scared girls and manages to do all the dance moves with no practicing whatsoever. However I liked that they reversed the star lift.
Anyway, back to the main point, overall I enjoyed this film, but the protagonist did not deserve a happily ever after.
Men in Black: International (2019)
Pleasantly surprised.
I went in expecting a pretty terrible film . It was silly and predictable but perfectly enjoyable.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
I didn't fully understand it but would highly reccommend!
I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did but I thought it was brilliant. Although, I didn't understand the chess, I still found myself on the edge of my seat.
I did begin to dislike the main character but the actor who played her was very good.
Bridgerton (2020)
Perfectly enjoyable but I dont understand the hype.
It was fine. I enjoyed it but it was very basic. I'm not really sure what all the fuss was about.
I was expecting something a bit more sophisticated, clever and different but it just appeared to be a normal soap opera-esque tv show dressed up in period costume.
Nonetheless, I did enjoy it! I'm just not sure if I'll tune into season 2.
Mother's Day (2016)
Easy watch but forgettable
This film is reasonably enjoyable and easy to watch.
I'm surprised at how many big names they got in this film though as the writing is very simple and clichè.
In a few years I'll probably end up watching it again because I am likely to have forgotten it.
Rainbow High (2020)
Dreadful and harmful.
I worry about the damage these kind of shows are doing to our young girls. All the young girls portrayed in this are mostly concerned about followers and looking good. I feel like the writers should feel some ounce of responsibility to the terrible role models they are providing for our children.
