- A woman loses all her money in the 1929 stock market crash, and in order to support her family, goes back to her previous occupation--owner of a gambling house--which her son is dead set against.
- A man is blamed for a murder that was actually committed by his wife.
- A man known to be a mute is suspected of committing a murder, as he was noticed at the scene. However, witnesses saw and heard him talking as he was leaving the scene of the crime. The police must determine if he is the actual killer or if he is being framed.

- Blackie Saunders and his young partner Sandy arrive in Indian Springs where Blackie meets his old friend Jim whom he once rode with on the wrong side of the law. Jim is now the Parson but Blackie still carries the reputation of a killer. When the townspeople decide Blackie is not a fit guardian for the boy, Jim convinces Blackie to leave the boy with him. But just after Blackie leaves town, the express office is robbed and it is assumed Blackie did it.
- As Powers is dying he tells Lee to look for a man with a girl named Mitzi. Heading north by dog sled as Curly the Kid, he finds her and her friend Lucky. But Slash is another friend and Lee is in trouble when his true identity becomes known.
- For revenge the outlaw Morgan steals the Carruthers young son. Seventeen years later Carruthers arrives in the valley where Morgan, his gang, and the now grown Bob hide. After Morgan shoots Tracy, he tells Bob that Carruthers did it and sends Bob out after him. But unknown to Bob, Morgan has put blanks in his gun.
- A cowboy whose friend has been swindled out of his ranch and then murdered must take care of the man's son, then he goes after the killers.
- Hanley shoots a man and then frames Bill Roberts. Being the Judge he then holds court planning to hang Bill but Bill's friends effect his escape. Andy tries to lead Hanley astray by misleading him as to Bill's location.

- Steele gets into a fight with a ranch foreman, knocking the foreman out. The foreman was supposed to represent the ranch in a prize fight with a middleweight champion. Now Steele finds himself in the fight of his life.
- Reporter Speed Morgan helps Flash Barrett escape from the police and this gets him into Flash's gang where he poses as a gangster. Flash and his gang head west guning for Bill Miller who failed to send some diamonds on to Flash. Speed hopes to bring Flash to justice but is in trouble when his true identity is revealed.
- An emergency at his aunt's ranch gets Ed Randall leave from the Navy. He returns to find the water cut off and her note due the next day.
- Dorothy, the unsophisticated daughter of Johann Graff, a stern, protective cobbler, dreams of entering café society after a night out with a friend. One night, Dorothy meets Bert Emmonds; they marries after three dates, and the outraged Johann disowns her. When Bert is falsely arrested for stealing an automobile, Dorothy is forced to work as a cigarette girl. She and Bert are later reunited, and Johann forgives his daughter.
- A cowboy saves his injured friend from a vigilante group, which believes that he is part of a bandit gang that attacked a wagon train. The cowboy sets out to find the bandit gang and clear his friend's name.
- Henry Vane is released from prison after serving fifteen years for shooting the lover his wife took while he served in the army during World War I. Henry cannot adjust to modern London and the cold treatment he receives from his former friends, so he goes to France. While there he meets Sally, the bratty child of neglectful Claudine Pym, and Sally's governess, the shy but caring Elsie Summerstone. Henry is taken with Elsie, and to spend more time with her, he becomes friends with Sally, whose mother treats Elsie shabbily. One night, when Claudine goes to Monte Carlo with her rich, pompous boyfriend, Monte Alabaster, Sally leads Elsie on a chase through the hotel corridors and falls down the stairs. Henry helps Elsie take care of the child, who suffers a fractured arm, but when he finally succeeds in reaching Claudine, she says she will not return until the following morning. When Claudine returns, she yells at Elsie for allowing Sally to come to harm. Sally rises to Elsie's defense, and Claudine strikes her injured daughter. Claudine then fires Elsie, but when Elsie asks for the two months back wages owed to her so that she can return to England, Claudine cannot pay her and so rehires her. After Sally's recovery, Henry and Elsie watch her play, and Henry tells Elsie the story of his crime and punishment. Although she is usually compassionate, Elsie is horrified and runs off. Henry is disappointed, for he had hoped to marry Elsie, and he leaves the hotel. Elsie realizes her mistake and goes to apologize, but it is too late. After discovering that Henry is gone, Elsie also finds out that her mother is dangerously ill. Claudine gives Elsie a check for her wages, but the English consul cannot cash it. Elsie returns to the hotel and in desperation takes some money from Claudine's purse, which is not as empty as Claudine had claimed. Claudine sees Elsie take the money, and after they quarrel, Elsie throws Claudine to the ground. Claudine has Elsie arrested for robbery and attempted murder, and despite the obvious injustices committed against Elsie, she is convicted and sentenced to the Maison Masque, a prison where the inmates must where masks. During the trial, Sally locates Henry, and although he appeals to Humphrey Grylls, the British consul, nothing can be done. Henry visits Elsie, telling her that she is not alone, and that they have a bright future together. Outside the courthouse, Henry finds Sally, who has run away to visit Elsie. Not far behind her is Claudine, who arrogantly ignores the traffic and is run over and killed. Eventually, after many appeals, Grylls succeeds in obtaining Elsie's release. Henry gets Elsie from the prison and takes her to the beautiful home he and Sally, who is now his adopted daughter, have prepared for her.
- A half a million dollars has been stolen and stashed away and prison inmate Dutch knows where it is. So Government Agent Joe goes to prison and makes friends with Dutch. When Joe breaks them out, Dutch leads them to the money only to find it gone. But Dutch's old gang is on hand and they haven't found it either.
- The cattle on the Langton Ranch are mysteriously dying and cowhands are disappearing or being shot. Two Langton riders bring a wounded rider they found wounded and hung up in a barbed-wire fence to Sally Langton and report that her father is missing. A lone rider, Jess Ryder, tops a rise and sees a band of men working on some calves in a secluded corral, and he frowns as he sees what Bat Murchinson is doing. Spying Jess, Bat orders his men away and he tries to ambush Jess but is taken captive himself. He takes him to Lynchburg, where Mort Snyder, of the Snyder Land & Cattle Company, is pacing up and down in his office, pondering a cryptic message he has received: "Man from New Mexico heading your way. Dangerous. Watch out." A henchman arrives and tells him that a stranger is bringing Bat to town as a prisoner, and Mort has his men take the sign from over the sheriff's office and put it over his own sign, as the sheriff is out searching for Mr. Langton. Jim Fletcher, Langton's foreman, is watching from across the street and helps Jess elude the trap. Fletcher asks Jess to accompany him to the Langton ranch. When two of Snyder's henchmen accompany Sally's brother, Bob to the ranch in their efforts to purchase the place, Jess and Fletcher make them prisoners and lock them in the cellar, with ranch cook Ching guarding them. That night, Jess takes Hutch, a henchman sent to free the prisoners, and leaves him tied to a tree. Jess then sneaks in and frees the prisoners, telling them that Snyder has sent him and they are to go to the place where Mr. Langton is being held. The next morning, everyone at the ranch thinks Jess has turned traitor. Arriving at the hideout, Jess ties up his two guides, and enters the cabin just in time to keep Mr. Langton from signing a relinquishment to his ranch. Back at the ranch, Fletcher finds the tied-up Hutch, and he and Bob force him to lead a sheriff's posse to the hideout.Jess finds a hypodermic needle which Bat and the other Snyder henchies have been using to inject Langton's cattle with rattlesnake venom, but Snyder arrives and Jess is taken captive. But the posse arrives. Jess tells Sally that he is from New Mexico and has been on the trail of Snyder who has used the same scheme there.
- Having helped his father escape the law, Jim Curtis heads north with the Marshal chasing him. He and his pal Snicker elude the Marshall by changing clothes with two actors. Now forced to do vaudeville skits, Jim finds the man responsible for his and his father's problem working in the same saloon.
- Fred Colgate, wealthy young man, learns that his tramp wife has been unfaithful and leaves her, and goes to Mexico. An accident causes him to be thought dead. He becomes a prizefighter, and when he return to his home city, he encounters a strange situation.
- Wealthy playboy Sandy Benton falls for pretty but decidedly less wealthy neighbor Doris Lawrence. She rebuffs his attentions, but scheming golddigger Estelle has her own plans for Sandy. When Doris hears about Sandy's wild times with Estelle, she sets out to show him that she, too, can be a "modern" woman.

- Newspaper editor Bill Temple arrives in Boom Town planning to expose Jim Blane as a crook. When Blane's henchman Buck fails to kill Temple, Blane prepares to flee with his money. But a sudden announcement of a gold strike empties the town. Blane heads after his henchmen who have taken his money and Temple heads after Blane.

- Miss Miller, a dedicated teacher beloved by her students, loses her job when she protects a favorite pupil, Richard Atwell, who is accused of embezzling from Mr. Riggs's bank. Years later, Richard organizes a banquet as a testimonial to Miss Miller's inspiration throughout 40 years of service, at which is presented a confession to that long-ago crime (possibly committed by Percy Riggs), an apology from Mr. Riggs, and the promise of a principalship of a new school.
- In order to find out who is smuggling guns to the Indians, an army officer pretends to have been demoted and hold a grudge against the army, hoping that the smugglers will try to contact him and take him into their gang.
- Joe has Cowboy-Race Driver Brent drive him to the border where his men slug Brent, and he shoots Stafford and takes his bonds. Brent's old friend Chuck arrives and the two head out to find the gang and recover the bonds.
- A cowboy takes a job as sheriff in a small town, and finds that one of his first jobs is trying to stop trouble between newly arrived sheepmen and local cattle ranchers, who don't want the sheep grazing on "their" range.
- Working under cover, Tex goes south of the border and joins Rand's gang where he befriends gang member Kansas. He plans to lead the gang into the Sheriff's trap, but hopes to spare his new friend.
- Heck Claibourne has been involving young Russ Whitely in his cattle rustling schemes, and when they are nearly caught by Sheriff Doug Barrett and deputy O'Hara, their cohort, Luke, shoots and kills O'Hara. Heck and Russ return to the ranch where Russ works before Doug arrives and act as though they have been there all along. In private Doug, who is fond of Russ and is engaged to Russ's boss, ranch owner Diane, asks the boy to stay away from Heck, because he is aware of Heck's illegal activities and fears injuring Russ while bringing Heck to justice. Russ denies his involvement with Heck's gang. Later, Doug asks Diane if she would break their engagement and try to influence Russ to go straight, as Russ has long been in love with her. Diane promises to try, and announces her broken engagement to Russ. Doug is pressured by Baker, leader of the ranchers, to capture the rustlers, but Doug is reluctant to use his gun without first having proof. When renowned gunslinger Bat Morrison threatens Russ for taunting him, Doug intervenes and hires Bat as his deputy. Doug then goes to Diane's ranch to arrest Luke, but Luke refuses to surrender himself and is killed by Bat. Russ blames Doug for Luke's death, although Doug reminds him that Luke was a murderer. When Luke's brother, butcher Butch Grimes, hears of his brother's death, he vows revenge, and Heck promises to help him exact it. Doug tries to find out if Butch has been buying stolen beef for his shop, but in order to entrap Doug, Butch only reveals that Heck is out to kill Russ. After Heck tells Russ of his plans to kill Doug, Russ asks Diane to tell Doug that his life is in danger. Unwilling to arrest Russ after he has made this attempt to save his life, Doug turns in his resignation, and Baker authorizes Bat to do whatever he must to bring in the outlaws. Russ bids farewell to Diane, telling her he is going across the border to the "land of vanishing men." After getting a confession from Butch, Bat tries to arrest Russ, but Doug, fearful that Bat will kill him, insists on accompanying them to jail. When Heck and his gang arrive, Bat threatens to shoot Russ if they are fired upon. Bat shoots Russ, and then is killed by Doug. Doug turns Heck and his gang over to Baker, who arrests them, while Doug takes the injured Russ back to his ranch to start life anew.
