- A young, free spirited farmer's daughter is derided as a witch by the people of her village. Those that know her closely realise she is kind-hearted, if somewhat eccentric. Tensions boil over as superstition takes hold of the town.

After he returns home, under strange circumstances, he finds her in his room and he begins to think he is suffering from hallucinations.

This is why they plot against the cooperative, why they hate each other, and why Floris eventually murders his father. In his frenzied hatred, he does not hesitate to put even Frona's life in danger.
- The film is depicting Czechoslovak tank brigade fighting along with the Red Army in the WW II. During the War Czechoslovak armored brigade was formed and trained in the Soviet Union. Although aware that they will be fighting mighty enemy and that many of them will not survive, that did not stop them. Brigade was performing successfully in the battles for Kiev, Rudi, Bela Czernaczovo Cerkev and became renown in the battles for Dukla i Ostrawa. The film also deals with the faith of one tank crew, which fights on the most difficult terrain covered by the Czechoslovak Independent Brigade. The destiny of the tank commander, sergeant Juraj Klimke was followed during the bloody battle at Dukla. Juraj shows that his harshness is only a mask and that he is in fact a shy and sensitive person. Battle scenes in the film were enacted by 3000 members of Czechoslovak Army.
- Jean-Paul is a Frenchman who yearns to live in communist Czechoslovakia. His wish is granted when, mistaken as a masseur of a French boating team, he manages to elude the democratic authorities long enough to scamper over the Czech border.

- Jurácek's feature debut is shot in two parts. In the first, a corporal accompanies a new recruit with a sore Achilles tendon for his physical, and all the girls or young women they see are played by the same actress (Ruzickova). At the end of their training they plan a large dance on their base with women bused in from the local village.
