- "Black" is an animated short film produced by the independent video production company "So What pictures". The film has been developed thanks to an international crowdfunding campaign and a public fund provided by Mibact (Italian ministry of culture) as it acknowledged "Black" as a film of national interest. The story is set during a long blackout in Rome, in which an unprepared, young electronic producer named Matteo instantly realises that he lost the music he was preparing on his computer and that he can't work anymore. While Rome quickly adapts to the new situation, Matteo somehow manages to overcome his loneliness thanks to his neighbor Greta, a writer who makes him rediscover the pleasure of simple things and shows him a different way of expressing himself. Black is a love story , but it is above all the story of our habits, of what can happen if the things we take for granted every day do vanish. That's why a blackout may lead us to question what we do and who we are. It is only then that we feel we have to reinvent ourselves, to rediscover the simplest things in life, as love. The sophisticated visual style in "Black" wants to show a research for a precise realism despite the hand-drawn 2D animation technique. The choice of using animation is not just a stylistic choice itself but also an attempt to keep a deep romantic and philosophical sense while narrating a possible story.
- The house where Lazzarin ' (as everyone calls him) spends his days becomes the starting point to tell, through heterogeneous archival materials, private but also from institutional archives, the story of an italian village recomposed through the stories of its inhabitants . The characters of this choral novel speak with their own voice. A first person narration give back to the unit a multiple snippets of conversation, captions of old photographs, essays of seamanship, testimonies and popular legends, following Lazzarin' in his long silent days. The composition of the shots is based on the synthesis: the narrative proceeds along articulated images suggesting a complexity of viewpoints. But it's in the transition from memorabilia to artworks that emerges the stylistic side of this project: all the elements of the archives, created in response to specific needs, primarily of memory and documentation, they are considered in an aesthetic perspective and re-used in the composition of narrative original images.
