- A six-month expedition in West Africa uncovers the daily life of the Wodaabe, nomadic herders of Niger, during the season of the drought and the rainy season and through the rituals that accompany them. Awarded at Locarno in 1955 for excellence in ethnographic investigation, Henry Brandt's documentary still astonishes today for the fascinating aesthetic scope of his research.
- This is a collection of two documentaries by Henry Brandt digitally restored by the Cinémathèque suisse. While "Les nomades du soleil" follows the nomads of the Wodaabe and their herds in Niger in 1955, "Les hommes des châteaux" shows the everyday life of the sedentary tribe of the Batammariba in the north of Dahomey, today's Benin. Unique contemporary testimonies of ways of life and cultures that are disappearing.
