- The event takes place since 1988.
- The festival focuses on films from Northern European countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). From 1990 on the baltic countries were included too in the official selection (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia). Since 1998 films from the Netherlands are welcome as well.
