- DirectorPaul VerhoevenStarsCasper Van DienDenise RichardsDina MeyerHumans, in a fascist militaristic future, wage war with giant alien bugs.I don't know why so few people understood the genius of Paul Verhoeven back in '98. The fact that it's one of the few films which imdb-rating went up instead of down over the years shows people can learn...
- DirectorJohn McTiernanMichael CrichtonStarsAntonio BanderasDiane VenoraDennis StorhøiA man, having fallen in love with the wrong woman, is sent by the sultan himself on a diplomatic mission to a distant land as an ambassador. Stopping at a Viking village port to restock on supplies, he finds himself unwittingly embroiled in a quest to banish a mysterious threat in a distant Viking land.Another non-loved film, this time even by it's director. But it's a fast, super-exciting ride that doesn't drag along unnecessary pathos. It ends as quick as it starts and takes no prisoners along the way. Nice! It's a shame that since it was a financial desaster (and it's director is currently in prison) it won't get a re-release with it's loads of unused footage.
- DirectorJohn MiliusStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerJames Earl JonesMax von SydowA powerful warrior seeks to avenge the genocide of his people and the murder of his parents at the hands of a snake cult.Ahnuld's best! Because he was reduced to what he was back then (raw meat) and didn't have to do unnecessary dialoges. Even the FX's don't look that bad after all these years. It's a shame there where never any proper sequels.
- DirectorGeorge MillerStarsMel GibsonBruce SpenceMichael PrestonIn the post-apocalyptic Australian wasteland, a cynical drifter agrees to help a small, gasoline-rich community get rid of a horde of bandits. Before Mad Mel became really mad he used to do great films like this dark masterpiece.
- DirectorRichard DonnerStarsMel GibsonDanny GloverJoe PesciWith personal crises and age weighing in on them, LAPD officers Riggs and Murtaugh must contend with deadly Chinese triads that are trying to free their former leaders out of prison and onto American soil.Ok, now this isn't the best of Mad Mel's films nor the best in the series but at a time when solid 80's action heroes had to compete with Bruckheimers b-movie blockbusters it was refreshing as an honest family reunion to see another Lethal Weapon flick.
- DirectorTim Blake NelsonStarsDavid ArquetteVelizar BinevDavid ChandlerA Nazi doctor, along with the Sonderkommando, Jews who are forced to work in the crematoria of Auschwitz against their fellow Jews, find themselves in a moral gray zone. This movie was so important, it's a shame it never got the attention it deserved.
- DirectorGeorge P. CosmatosStarsSylvester StalloneBrigitte NielsenReni SantoniA tough-on-crime street cop must protect the only surviving witness to a strange murderous cult with far-reaching plans.Ok, this is not Dostojewski or anything but in a time when every hero has to be sensitive and every movie pretends to be politically correct it's refreshing to see Stallone fighting crime wearing shades and doing oneliners. It's definitely better than 4.8/10!!!
- DirectorRenny HarlinStarsAndrew Dice ClayLauren HollyWayne NewtonA vulgar private detective is hired to find a missing groupie and is drawn into a mystery involving a series of murders tied to the music industry. Now it's a bit dated but still funny and it has a great score by synthie-pioneers Yello.
- DirectorStephen HopkinsStarsDanny GloverGary BuseyKevin Peter HallThe Predator returns to Earth, this time to stake a claim on the war-torn streets of a dystopian Los Angeles. It's almost impossible to produce a good sequel without the lead of the original. But here it worked out ok, it actually makes sense that 10 years later in another place (this time the "jungle" of LA) not the same hero shows up. And it has an unexpected super-long finale.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsRussell CroweChristian BaleBen FosterA small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher. This is not just another remake it's actually on of the best films of 2007.
