- StarsRob WiethoffJosh BlaylockSophia MarzocchiA former outlaw is forced by the federal government to hunt down the members of his old gang.A beautiful open-world western. The story starts as typical revenge stuff but ends as a tragic and touching examination of life. The gameplay is varied and kept fresh, although the controls can't quite keep up with the amount of actions you can take (especially when spurring a horse while engaged in a firefight).
- StarsTrey AnastasioJello BiafraBlondieRock Band 3 introduces 'Pro' mode, designed to simulate real-world instruments, matching fingers with specific positions. This instalment of the franchise also includes three-part vocal harmonies for each song.Probably the best of the greatest music gaming franchise ever. There's nothing like this game when it's on with a group of people. Literally, nothing (well maybe the real thing...)
- DirectorKoichi HayashidaStarsCharles MartinetDex ManleyScott BurnsMario goes back in the galaxy to save Princess Peach from Bowser.Platforming perfection. The difficulty ramps up expertly, there are always new things to do, and magic to be discovered.
- DirectorPetri JärvilehtoStarsMatthew PorrettaLloyd FloydGeoffrey CantorWhile on vacation in the small town of Bright Falls, a struggling writer must investigate the mysterious disappearance of his wife while events from his latest manuscript, which he can't remember writing, begin to come true. What sets this game apart is the fact that you play as a writer in a small town not some action hero fighting a big bad war. Ostensibly a survival horror game, but much more plot driven and less about fighting baddies than just uncovering the secrets of a complicated mystery. No it's not perfect (sometimes the script pages are weakly written and the action can be a little simple) but there isn't any other game quite like it.
- DirectorJordan ThomasMichael CsuricsStarsFenella WoolgarDoug BoydAnne BobbyIn 1968, the first successfully-bonded Big Daddy is reawakened to save his Little Sister from the clutches of Rapture's new leader, Sofia Lamb.Nowhere near as perfect as the original, but the sequel still provides a great setting, a good story, and rock solid action (you get to play as a big daddy!).
- StarsPeter FlemmingAllyson ArmstrongRobyn RossIn the rise of a new zombie outbreak, the new hero Chuck Greene has to help his daughter survive this zombie nightmare.I can't help myself from falling in love with these games. The zombies are slow and easy pickings (but a bitch in big groups) and the game wears it's B-movie aspirations on its sleeve proudly. It mixes old-school game sensibilities with new school open worldness. The story isn't as fun as the first, but dual weapons and the setting are hella awesome.
- DirectorBryan WalkerStarsTakashi NagasakoKatsumi SuzukiDonkey and Diddy Kong are back for a new adventure on the Nintendo Wii. A group of evil sentient Tiki masks known as the Tiki Tak Tribe arrive on Donkey Kong Island, and hypnotize the island's animals and steal Donkey Kong's bananas.Excellent 2D platforming action, with a ridiculous amount of challenge (too much on some of those rocket levels), fun level design, but boring boss battles.
- DirectorArnt JensenA boy wakes up in a forest and sets off to find his sister.A unique and visually special platformer that's all about physics and less about action.
- DirectorStig AsmussenStarsGeorge BallAdrienne BarbeauSusanne BlakesleeArmed with his deadly double-chained blades, Kratos must take on Greek mythology's darkest creatures to destroy Olympus and the mighty Zeus himself.Bigger, bloodier, and prettier than the first two but also a bit complacent. Yeah Kratos is angsty, and yeah he kills real good, but the story is just God-killing filler by this point. Not enough risks, but the action is damn good and the boss battles spectacular.
- DirectorEnric ÁlvarezJesús CoboStarsRobert CarlyleNatascha McElhoneAleksandar MikicReboot of the Castlevania series. Set during the Middle Ages, Gabriel Belmont is in Southern Europe on his quest to defeat a malevolent order known as the Lords of Shadow to resurrect his wife. It's a little bit God of War, Assassin's Creed, and even Shadow of the Colossus but all Castlevania. It gets away with it because this is how 3D Castlevania always should have been. The game's levels are gorgeous, the story interesting (it's basically comprehensible) and the boss battles tons of fun. It's the totality of effect that sets this one apart, not just one great element.
- DirectorTadashi IguchiTakahiro SasanoiIt's Your World. EAT IT! Get ready for more ghost chain gobbling and frantic action in PAC-MAN® CE-DX! The award-winning chomping video game makes a shattering debut on mobile with even more content than ever before! An exhilarating take on an old classic.
- DirectorRyôta ItôMega Man and Proto Man join forces to stop robots infected by a mass virus outbreak while the doctors work on a cure.Another fun and solid old school Mega Man game. The level, enemies, bosses and weapons lack the magic and overall feeling of perfection that define the best Mega Man games, and the challenge is a bit wonkier (feels cheap, as opposed to to pattern based).
- DirectorMarcus LehtoStarsFreddy BoscheAlona TalJamie HectorA highly-trained branch of the UNSC known as the Noble Team must defend the planet of Reach from a massive Covenant invasion.More of the same, which is both good and slightly boring.
- DirectorCasey HudsonStarsShohreh AghdashlooMaggie BairdAdam BaldwinAfter being revived from death and having to join a pro-human organization without a choice, Commander Shepard must assemble a team, battle a new threat, and make tough choices in order to save the galaxy from total annihilation once more.A prettier game than the first, but seems to lack purpose. You spend the entire game recruiting another crew, and finding out their stories. Cue 3rd game. Also the game lacks wonder and magic. I'm exploring space but it feels perfunctory.
- DirectorEdmund McMillenTommy RefenesMeat Boy goes to rescue his girlfriend Bandage Girl, who's been kidnapped by the evil Dr. Fetus.A simplistic platformer with an insane difficulty curve. It's maybe not THAT hard, but it's also hard to justify any fun you're actually having, if at all.
- DirectorYosuke HayashiTakehiko HosokawaYoshio SakamotoStarsJessica Erin MartinDave ElvinMike McGillicutyAfter her mission to destroy the Space Pirate homeworld, Zebes, Samus is traveling through space when her ship intercepts a distress signal from the derelict Bottleship. An interesting attempt at 2.5D Metroid. The action works well but the story is a bit weak and the levels lack wonder--the need for exploration that is the core of Metroid.
- DirectorDavid CageStarsPascal LangdaleJacqui AinsleyJudi BeecherAs a child goes missing, his father tirelessly works to rescue him, while a journalist, an FBI agent, and a private detective try to identify his kidnapper known only as the "Origami Killer".
- StarsDoug CockleJules de JonghAndrew WincottSometime in the not-too-distant future, a deadly virus is once again sweeping the globe, infecting everyone in its path and killing off almost all the human race. To the horror of the survivors, the dead have begun rising from the grave, hell-bent on feeding on the living and wiping out mankind for good. But, just as it seems all is lost, a small pocket of survivors emerges, determined to take back the world from the undead. You are one of these survivors. Armed to the teeth and totally outnumbered, you're the last hope of discovering a cure for the virus and saving humanity. Just remember to lock, load, and aim for the brain! It's time to start the fight back.A top-down zombie blaster where you blast zombies...and blast zombies...and so on and so forth ad nauseum.
- DirectorJon BurtonDave BrownPhil GrayStarsRobbie ColtraneLottie Deakin-BerryJulie-Ann DeanExperience the first half of Harry Potter's school life in Lego form. You know what you are getting here. Fairly decent platforming and tons of stuff to collect.
