- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherLuke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookiee and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire's world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader.Alec Guinness, Star Wars.
By the time he played Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope, Guinness had already appeared in cinematic classics like The Bridge on the River Kwai, Great Expectations and Lawrence of Arabia. During production, Guinness is reported to have said the following:
"Apart from the money, I regret having embarked on the film. I like them well enough, but it's not an acting job, the dialogue - which is lamentable - keeps being changed and only slightly improved, and I find myself old and out of touch with the young."
The insane amount of fame he won for the role as the wise old Jedi master took him somewhat by surprise and, ultimately, annoyed him. In his autobiography A Positively Final Appearance: A Journal, Guinness recalls a time he encountered an autograph-seeking fan who boasted to him about having watched Star Wars more than 100 times. In response, Guinness agreed to provide the boy an autograph under the condition that he promise never to watch the film again. - DirectorJames CameronStarsLeonardo DiCaprioKate WinsletBilly ZaneA seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.Kate Winslet
The Movie: Titanic
The Distance: During promotion for Titanic 3D in 2012, Winslet revealed she's horrified by her nude scenes, haunted by Titanic jokes and wants to vomit every time she hears Celine Dion's ballad My Heart Will Go On. (Don't we all?)
She told MTV: "I do feel like throwing up. I wish I could say 'Oh listen, everybody! It's the Celine Dion song!' But I don't. I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll.
"Honestly, I actually now get onto boats and say, 'No jokes, OK? No jokes. Can we just move on from that? And if you have any jokes, let's just get them out of the way right now. Thank you. Anyone? Jokes, jokes? OK, moving on.' And then they still tell jokes,"
The Fall-Out: With a huge body of brilliant work under her belt, nobody could begrudge Kate her small vent. - DirectorRidley ScottStarsHarrison FordRutger HauerSean YoungA blade runner must pursue and terminate four replicants who stole a ship in space and have returned to Earth to find their creator.Harrison Ford still hates "Blade Runner" and Ridley Scott for *beep* it up".
Who's at fault ? - DirectorWoody AllenStarsWoody AllenDiane KeatonMariel HemingwayThe life of a divorced television writer dating a teenage girl is further complicated when he falls in love with his best friend's mistress.Woody Allen.
I think, along with most movie lovers out there, that Manhattan is not only one of Woody Allen's best films, but one of the better films in recent history. But there's no pleasing a perfectionist. According Woody in Robert Weide's documentary Woody Allen - A Documentary:
I didn't like the film at all … I spoke to United Artists at the time and offered to make a film for them for nothing if they would not put it out.
He also told the Associated Press:
When I saw it, I was not crazy about it. To this day, I have memories of it as being disappointing to me. I'm not saying it wasn't beautifully filmed - it was (cinematographer) Gordon Willis, shot in black in white - and the people were good. But the writing was too preachy, too self-righteous.
Mr. Allen, while you may not have appreciated Manhattan, I certainly did. I didn't even think it was that preachy. - DirectorPeter JacksonStarsElijah WoodViggo MortensenIan McKellenGandalf and Aragorn lead the World of Men against Sauron's army to draw his gaze from Frodo and Sam as they approach Mount Doom with the One Ring.Christopher Lee snubbed the premiere of The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King, unhappy at how far back his role had been cut.
- DirectorRobert WiseStarsJulie AndrewsChristopher PlummerEleanor ParkerA young novice is sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer.Christopher Plummer, The Sound of Music.
The Sound of Music is considered a classic and has delighted many generations of fans. But the film's own lead actor, Christopher Plummer, didn't always sing its praises. Mr. Von Trapp himself declined to participate in a 2005 film reunion and, according to one acquaintance, has referred to the film as The Sound of Mucus. - DirectorFrank CapraStarsCary GrantPriscilla LaneRaymond MasseyA Brooklyn writer of books on the futility of marriage risks his reputation after he decides to tie the knot. Things get even more complicated when he learns on his wedding day that his beloved maiden aunts are habitual murderers.Cary Grant hated Arsenic and Old Lace !!!
- DirectorRobert MooreStarsPeter FalkAlec GuinnessPeter SellersFive famous literary detective characters and their sidekicks are invited to a bizarre mansion to solve an even stranger mystery.Peter Sellers. One of the best comedy movie was hated by Peter Sellers. Strange ?
Peter Sellers hated Murder by Death and didn't want to have anything to do with it after it was filmed. - DirectorTony KayeStarsEdward NortonEdward FurlongBeverly D'AngeloLiving a life marked by violence, neo-Nazi Derek finally goes to prison after killing two black youths. Upon his release, Derek vows to change; he hopes to prevent his brother, Danny, who idolizes Derek, from following in his footsteps.Edward Norton hated what is probably his best movie till date.
Ed Norton hated "American History X" so much that he refused to do any publicity for the film when it was released. - DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsMark WahlbergJulianne MooreBurt ReynoldsBack when sex was safe, pleasure was a business and business was booming, an idealistic porn producer aspires to elevate his craft to an art when he discovers a hot young talent.Burt Reynolds
The Movie: Boogie Nights
The Distance: In another instance of leaked discontent, Burt Reynolds was reportedly very unhappy with the movie after seeing a rough cut of Paul Thomas Anderson’s film.
He subsequently sacked his agent and turned down a role in Anderson’s next film, Magnolia .
The Fall-Out: The story didn't stop Reynolds from picking up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his performance in the film. - DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsRoy ScheiderRobert ShawRichard DreyfussWhen a killer shark unleashes chaos on a beach community off Cape Cod, it's up to a local sheriff, a marine biologist, and an old seafarer to hunt the beast down.Richard Dreyfuss openly criticized the movie for starting without a finished script, and then mainly said he only accepted the role cause he felt he previous film THE APPRENTICESHIP OF DUDDY KRAVITZ was so awful he thought he'd never get hired again.
Of course, in the end he realized it was great, but until he saw the final cut he was talking openly about how awful it was. - DirectorAlfonso CuarónStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard.Daniel Radcliff.
He fell short of saying it, but we were listening keenly and took the words from his mouth.
I remember seeing an inteview with Daniel Radcliffe for Harry Potter 4 and he was something like "Oh I love this movie, it's so much easier to try to get people excited about a movie you like instead of pretending you like a movie you think is terrible". Clearly he was talking about Prizoner of Azkaban because that was the only movie he did right before that one. Went back and saw an interview for PoA and Radcliffe was so awkward and kept talking about the people he worked with rather than the movie. Had to commend his ability to hold his tongue from bad mouthing the director though... I couldn't have done it. lol - DirectorBrett RatnerStarsJackie ChanChris TuckerKen LeungA loyal and dedicated Hong Kong Inspector teams up with a reckless and loudmouthed L.A.P.D. detective to rescue the Chinese Consul's kidnapped daughter, while trying to arrest a dangerous crime lord along the way.Jackie chan disliked working in rush hour series !!! LOL How about that. ......... but we still love jackie chan, he's awesome.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanIan McKellenIn a world where mutants (evolved super-powered humans) exist and are discriminated against, two groups form for an inevitable clash: the supremacist Brotherhood, and the pacifist X-Men.Halle Berry was not wild about the first X-Men movie and went on record complaining about having been "reduced" to having to appear in such crud.
She went on to star in two sequels though. Money makes the world .... - DirectorGavin HoodStarsHugh JackmanLiev SchreiberRyan ReynoldsThe early years of James Logan, featuring his rivalry with his brother Victor Creed, his service in the special forces team Weapon X, and his experimentation into the metal-lined mutant Wolverine.Hugh Jackman
The Movie: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
The Distance: Ever the diplomat, Jackman wasn't exactly scathing when he told Entertainment Weekly that he wasn't quite happy with his X-Man's first solo outing.
"I had something to prove, and we could have done better," Jackman said. "Somehow the first Wolverine movie ended up looking like the fourth X-Men - just with different characters. I left unsure if we'd achieved our goal, which was to make sure people understood my character."
The Fall-Out: Despite his comments, Jackman remains very much part of the X-Men family. Let's hope he's happier with the latest effort, eh? - DirectorJames CameronStarsEd HarrisMary Elizabeth MastrantonioMichael BiehnA civilian diving team is enlisted to search for a lost nuclear submarine and faces danger while encountering an alien aquatic species.Ed Harris.
I remember that Ed Harris (and most of the rest of the cast) refused to do publicity for _The Abyss_, but that may have been because they hated James Cameron, not the movie itself. - DirectorAmy HeckerlingStarsSean PennJennifer Jason LeighJudge ReinholdA group of Southern California high school students are enjoying their most important subjects: sex, drugs and rock n' roll.Sean Penn.
How can anyone forget Sean Penn with FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. Don't ever call him Spicoli!!
Well he hated the movie that made a star out of him. - DirectorCatherine HardwickeStarsKristen StewartRobert PattinsonBilly BurkeWhen Bella Swan moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest, she falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious classmate who reveals himself to be a 108-year-old vampire.Robert Pattinson hasn't openly expressed hatred towards the movie series. But we will troll him till he actually does that.
** This is the only troll entry on our list :) - DirectorSavage Steve HollandStarsJohn CusackDavid Ogden StiersKim DarbyAfter his girlfriend ditches him for a boorish ski jock, Lane decides that suicide is the only answer. However, his increasingly inept attempts bring him only more agony and embarrassment. Filled with the wildest teen nightmares.John Cusack, Better Off Dead.
John Cusack reportedly hated his cult 80s comedy so much that he walked out of the screening and later told the film’s director Steve Holland that Better Off Dead was "the worst thing I have ever seen" and he would "never trust you as a director again." - DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsSylvester StalloneEstelle GettyJoBeth WilliamsA tough police sergeant's overbearing mother comes to visit him and begins to meddle in his life and career.Sylvester Stallone, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.
Sly doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to his film career. Despite co-starring with the delightful Estelle Getty as the titular violence-prone mother, Stallone knows just how bad the film was:
"I made some truly awful movies. Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was the worst. If you ever want someone to confess to murder, just make him or her sit through that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes." - DirectorAnnabel JankelRocky MortonStarsBob HoskinsJohn LeguizamoDennis HopperTwo Brooklyn plumbers, Mario and Luigi, must travel to another dimension to rescue a princess from the evil dictator King Koopa and stop him from taking over the world.Bob Hoskins, Super Mario Brothers.
He was in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. As far as I’m concerned, Bob Hoskins is forgiven for Super Mario Bros. Hoskins, though, doesn’t seem to be able to forgive himself. Last year the Guardian spoke with the veteran actor about his career and he summed up his feelings rather succinctly:
What is the worst job you've done?
Super Mario Brothers.
What has been your biggest disappointment?
Super Mario Brothers.
If you could edit your past, what would you change?
I wouldn't do Super Mario Brothers. - DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerGeorge ClooneyChris O'DonnellBatman and Robin try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing Gotham City.George Clooney, Batman & Robin.
Sure, Batman & Robin made money. But by every other imaginable measure, the film was a complete failure, and a nightmare to the vast majority of the Caped Crusader’s most fervent fanatics. Star George Clooney recognized what a stinker he helped create and once plainly stated, “I think we might have killed the franchise.” - DirectorMike MitchellStarsJustin LongMatthew Gray GublerJesse McCartneyPlaying around while aboard a cruise ship, the Chipmunks and Chipettes accidentally go overboard and end up marooned in a tropical paradise. They discover their new turf is not as deserted as it seems.David Cross, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
When actors have a movie out, it's customary that they publicize the film by saying nice things about it. Earlier this year David Cross took a different approach. When it came to describing his new film Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, the veteran comedian — better known for Mr. Show and Arrested Development — went on Conan and called the film a “big commercial for Carnival Cruise Lines” and told people not to go see it. - DirectorJudd ApatowStarsSeth RogenKatherine HeiglPaul RuddFor fun-loving party animal Ben Stone, the last thing he ever expected was for his one-night stand to show up on his doorstep eight weeks later to tell him she's pregnant with his child.Katherine Heigl, Knocked Up.
Judd Apatow’s unplanned pregnancy comedy was a huge hit and helped cement her status as a bankable film actress. After the film’s release, however, Heigl didn’t have all good things to say. In fact, what she specifically said about it was that the film was:
"…A little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys.” - DirectorJohn FrankenheimerStarsBen AffleckGary SiniseCharlize TheronAfter assuming his dead cell-mate's identity to get with the other man's girlfriend, an ex-convict finds himself a reluctant participant in a casino heist.Charlize Theron, Reindeer Games.
The 2000 action film Reindeer Games starred Ben Affleck, Gary Sinese and Charlize Theron and was directed by John Frankenheimer. But it all somehow failed to come together. In the end the film lost a lot of money and compiled a wealth of negative reviews – including one from its star actress who simply said, “Reindeer Games was not a good movie.”
