- DirectorAndrew WakefieldStarsDel BigtreeMark F. BlaxillMichaela BlaxillA documentary alleging that the CDC, the government agency charged with protecting the health of American citizens, destroyed data on their 2004 study that allegedly showed a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.1/10 Propaganda is one thing, propaganda that spreads a conspiracy that results in the death of children is another thing altogether. Get your kids vaccinated for crying out loud people!
- DirectorLeonard HorowitzStarsLeonard HorowitzSherri KaneUn-Vaxxed: A Docu-Commentary for Robert De Niro is an unparalleled production by award-winning author, filmmaker and health science expert, Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz, who contributes more than the "discussion" actor Robert De Niro sought to start by screening the controversial film Vaxxed at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. De Niro, whose son, like millions of other children who became vaccine-injured, came under fire from both sides of the vaccination safety debate after "pulling" Vaxxed from the event. "Filmmakers" and agents pressured the Hollywood celebrity to censor Vaxxed by producer Del Bigtree and director Andrew Wakefield. De Niro later pledged to investigate who caused the censorship, and why. Un-Vaxxed vets those secrets, along with the agents and agencies commissioned to influence De Niro, public opinion, CDC policies, the U.S. Congress, health science and medicine using the media to shape society's beliefs and attitudes towards vaccinations.1/10 1/10 Propaganda is one thing, propaganda that spreads a conspiracy that results in the death of children is another thing altogether. Get your kids vaccinated for crying out loud people!
- DirectorRick CaineDebbie MelnykStarsMichael MooreDebbie MelnykRick CaineA documentary that looks to distinguish what's fact, fiction, legend, and otherwise as a camera crew trails Michael Moore while he tours with his film Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004).1/10 Michael Moore is hated by the "Right wing" side of society. Does he hate America? If he hated America he wouldn't be making repeated documentaries about it's flaws and how to fix them. Making a documentary to slam and in places slander him is pitiful, making 3! That suggests fear, concern and that his points are striking nerves.
- DirectorLarry ElderStarsLarry ElderMichael MooreAttorney and Radio Talk-Show host Larry Elder spends a year and a half attempting to interview Michael Moore in response to Moore's assertions about guns made in Bowling for Columbine.1/10 Michael Moore is hated by the "Right wing" side of society. Does he hate America? If he hated America he wouldn't be making repeated documentaries about it's flaws and how to fix them. Making a documentary to slam and in places slander him is pitiful, making 3! That suggests fear, concern and that his points are striking nerves.
- DirectorMichael WilsonStarsMike AbrahamPete AugerAndrew BreitbartMichael Wilson, like the subject of his film, is trying to get an interview with a multi-millionaire; however, in this case, that millionaire is Michael Moore himself.1/10 Michael Moore is hated by the "Right wing" side of society. Does he hate America? If he hated America he wouldn't be making repeated documentaries about it's flaws and how to fix them. Making a documentary to slam and in places slander him is pitiful, making 3! That suggests fear, concern and that his points are striking nerves.
- DirectorEric GladenShiloh LevineStarsEric GladenBrian HookerAfter recovering from a devastating sickness that brought him to the edge of despair, Eric Gladen would quit his career, move into an RV, and travel the country for years trying to piece together one of the biggest childhood epidemics of all time...and he just may have done it.1/10 Propaganda is one thing, propaganda that spreads a conspiracy that results in the death of children is another thing altogether. Get your kids vaccinated for crying out loud people!
- DirectorWilliam ArntzBetsy ChasseMark VicenteStarsMarlee MatlinElaine HendrixJohn Ross BowieA fictional photographer's quest to spiritually rediscover herself is interspersed with documentary footage of scientists and theologians discussing the philosophical aspects of quantum physics.1/10 The very definition of new age nonsense, there is no science here only the most ridiculous of concepts with no basis, no evidence and have about as much credibility as magical stones, mediums and gods.
- DirectorHenning SchellerupStarsJohn RubinsteinJohn AndersonNehemiah PersoffThis examination of historical sources speculates on the accuracy of the biblical depiction of Jesus.1/10 Christian "Science" makes claims regarding the existence of Jesus, the trouble is Christian "Science" is the penultimate oxymoron. There is no evidence, there could never be any evidence. Engage with reality people!
- DirectorJohn Alan SchwartzStarsMichael CarrSamuel BerkowitzMary Ellen BrightonA collection of death scenes, ranging from TV material to homemade super 8 movies.1/10 Sick, perverse and lacking any level of entertainment I can see why this became infamous and though not the easily shocked type I don't understand why anyone would want to see this.
- DirectorRay ComfortStarsRay ComfortJoseph GoebbelsRudolf Hess180 is a 33-minute 2011 anti-abortion documentary film produced by Ray Comfort, founder of Living Waters Publications. The film is distributed by Living Waters on DVD and has been posted publicly on the film's official website and YouTube. The film is notable for comparing abortions to the Holocaust.1/1 Made by the lunatic known as Ray Comfort, the man whose most noted contribution to the world involved a banana this is an arrogant anti-abortion film. I'm pro-choice, stop telling people what they can and can't do with their bodies.
- DirectorLauren GreenfieldStarsJaqueline SiegelDavid SiegelLorraine BarrettA documentary that follows a billionaire couple as they begin construction on a mansion inspired by Versailles. During the next two years, their empire, fueled by the real estate bubble and cheap money, falters due to the economic crisis.1/10 I'm sorry, why should I care? Even remotely?
- DirectorJoshua OppenheimerAnonymousChristine CynnStarsAnwar CongoHerman KotoSyamsul ArifinA documentary which challenges former Indonesian death-squad leaders to reenact their mass-killings in whichever cinematic genres they wish, including classic Hollywood crime scenarios and lavish musical numbers.2/10 Though I appreciate what they were going for here it makes for very difficult viewing. Not pleasant and certain people seem to revel a bit too much in what they have done.
- DirectorEric WalterStarsDaniel LutzSusan BartellLaura DiDioFor the first time in 35 years, Daniel Lutz recounts his version of the infamous Amityville haunting that terrified his family in 1975.2/10 Ghosts aren't real, engage with reality. Remember the show Most Haunted? 361 episodes and counting, 16yrs and still going! They've been to the most "Haunted" places around the world, and have found nothing. If you ever needed proof of the lack of existence of ghosts have a think about that little nugget.
- DirectorPenn JillettePaul ProvenzaStarsGeorge CarlinDon RicklesChris RockOne hundred superstar comedians tell the same very, VERY dirty, filthy joke--one shared privately by comics since Vaudeville.2/10 The same crass unfunny joke on a loop with various alterations. Funny? No.
- DirectorAlicia KerrStarsLouis TherouxChris EubankKarron EubankLouis sets off to meet Chris Eubank, to try and get underneath the extravagant persona he has made for himself.2/10 Eubank is a dull unfunny man, a documentary about his personal life was a poor choice.
- DirectorNathan FrankowskiStarsBen SteinLili AsvarPeter AtkinsBen Stein examines the issue of academic freedom and decides that there is none when it comes to the debate over intelligent design.2/10 Riddled with lies, highly bias, the very definition of idiotic. If you're going to cover such a subject then being dishonest kills all credibility.
- DirectorAmardeep KalekaStarsThomas JaneJack AumanCorrado BalducciA documentary about the life of Dr. Stephen Greer, UFO secrecy, and existing energy technologies that could change the world as we know it.2/10 Pseudo scientific nonsense which presents theories with nothing even remotely resembling evidence.
2/10 Pseudo scientific nonsense which presents theories with nothing even remotely resembling evidence. - DirectorDan OllmanSarah PriceChris SmithStarsAndreas BichlbauerMike BonannoAndy BichlbaumAnti-corporate activists travel from conference to conference, impersonating member of the World Trade Organization.2/10 Though I get the sentiment The Yes Men is unforgivably dull and doesn't make for an entertaining or even enlightening watch.
- DirectorDan T. HallStarsTracy BaconMyrna CookeAlex HallFollows Dan T. Hall as he explores the haunting of the Fox Hollow Farm estate.2/10 You know the difference between this and an episode of Most Haunted? No really I'm asking, because I don't know the answer. More night vision, people calling out to the dead and interviews with people who claim to have seen ghostly apparitions.
- DirectorJoe CrossKurt EngfehrStarsJoe CrossAmy BadbergMerv CrossFat, Sick, and Nearly Dead is an American documentary that chronicles Australian Joe Cross's 60-day journey across the United States, where he embarks on a juice-only fast in a quest to reclaim his health.3/10 I agree with his message and do support it but a documentary needs to be both educational and entertaining and this is barely the former and not at all the latter.
- DirectorAlicia KerrStarsLouis TherouxMax CliffordNicky Byrne3/10 I love Louis but the "When Louis Met.." series has had the habit of being the kind of people I simply do not care about and Clifford is no exception.
- DirectorWill YappStarsLouis TherouxPaul DanielsChris EubankThe celebrities profiled by Louis Theroux in the documentary series "When Louis Met..." reflect on their time with Louis and he gives his thoughts on them.3/10 Essentially a catchup of the various "Celebrities" Louis met through the very underwhelming "When Louis Met..." series. Simply uninspiring stuff.
- DirectorGuy GilbertStarsLouis TherouxKeith HarrisAnn Marie Davies3/10 Keith Harris & Orville, a portrait by Louis Theroux. How could this possibly have been enjoyable?
- DirectorWill YappStarsLouis TherouxDavid BlaineUri GellerIn 2001, Louis Theroux decides to set out on a journey to interview Michael Jackson. When Michael comes to the UK, Louis approaches Uri Geller but gets turned down. He then finds out that ITV has been granted an interview and Louis sets out for LA to meet a close friend of the Jackson family, promoter and magician Majestik Magnificent, who claims he can set up an interview with Joe Jackson, Michael's father. However nothing seems to go easily for Louis and his target seems further away.3/10 With David Blaine and moronic Uri Geller how could this Louis documentary of succeeded. Doomed from the outset this is not his best work.
- DirectorWill YappStarsLouis TherouxPaul DanielsDebbie McGeeFor 20 years Paul Daniels mesmerised audiences with his conjuring tricks, helped by his wife and assistant, Debbie McGee. Now in their sixties and forties respectively, Paul has given up magic so he can devote himself to realising Debbie's dream of running her own classical ballet company. Louis Theroux is invited to join their 'magic circle' to find out if Paul is ready for life out of the spotlight.3/10 As charming as Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee are a sit down interview about their personal lives simply isn't enjoyable.
- DirectorKate TownsendStarsLouis TherouxAnn WiddecombeMichael AncramJournalist Louis Theroux spends some time with Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe and finds out what makes her tick.3/10 Louis is a fantastic documentary filmmaker but the "When Louis Met" series was dreadful. Personal sit down interviews and getting to know the celebrity and their day to day life. This time with Ann Widdecombe, really?!
- DirectorKate DavisDavid HeilbronerThe FBI targets a Muslim community in Newburgh, New York and arrests four men in 2009 during a sting operation, claiming they tried to help a Pakistani business man, who was working with the FBI, with terrorist attacks.3/10 Oddly uncomfortable viewing. The tactics used were questionable and I'm sure many wouldn't see them as "Just". I believe in doing whats necessary but even my eyebrows raised a tad.
- DirectorCullen HobackStarsMaisy KayWelcome to Monster Camp, the true story about a world where people transform into creatures, heroes, and monsters to escape their daily lives. In the vein of Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, and Dungeons and Dragons; these enthusiasts have developed a complicated world to bring their fantasies to life. Romantic relationships are forged between characters. Friendships are destroyed over plot disputes. Characters are slain and never return. But keeping this world alive takes a lot of real world work. And unless someone is willing to take charge, the fantasy may be lost forever.3/10 Goofy, sweet and heartfelt but sadly not exactly gripping. It's an odd thing to do a documentary on and it just didn't meet the already low expectations.
- DirectorWill PascoeStarsNoam ChomskyCarol ChomskyLinguist, intellectual and activist, Noam Chomsky discusses and reflects on the state of world events including the War in Iraq, September 11th, the War on Terror, Media Manipulation and Control, Social Activism, Fear, and American Foreign Policy in both large forums and in small interactive discussions with other intellectuals, activists, fans, students and critics. Interwoven, is Dr. Carol Chomsky, Noam's wife and manager who reflects on what drives Noam and what life is like with him. Other candid reflections about Noam Chomsky and his thoughts, work and influece are offerred by others throughout the film.3/10 I like Noam Chomsky for the most part and have enjoyed much of the works regarding him. Rebel Without a Pause however is poorly constructed and ultimately provides little new information.
- DirectorGodfrey ReggioStarsEdward AsnerPat BenatarJerry BrownA collection of expertly photographed phenomena with no conventional plot. The footage focuses on the relationship between nature, humanity, and technology.4/10 It's hard to refer to this as a documentary at all. It's not totally unlikeable but I'm not sure who the demographic is.
- DirectorKirby DickStarsKirby DickKimberly PeirceDarren AronofskyKirby Dick's exposé about the American movie ratings board.4/10 This Film Is Not Yet Rated above everything else is frustrating. Who do these people think they are telling us what is and isn't acceptable? Sadly the documentary though educational doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
- DirectorPatricia FoulkrodStarsHerold Noel Jr.Robert AcostaSean HuzeThis powerful film shows how the Iraq War's ground conflicts are only a prelude to the challenging and grueling battles heroic veterans face when they return home from duty.4/10 Hard hitting cutting documentary that was sadly made by people incapable of turning such a topic into a watchable documentary.
- DirectorWerner HerzogStarsWerner HerzogRichard LopezMichael PerryConversations with death row inmate Michael Perry and those affected by his crime serve as an examination of why people - and the state - kill.4/10 I don't know what it is about Werner Herzog, but I struggle to like his works. I don't know if it's his lack of focus and making documentaries about the most random of things or his monotonous voice but I couldn't get behind this nor feel sorry for it's targets.
- DirectorWill YappStarsLouis TherouxJimmy SavileMichael BuerkLouis Theroux spends some time with the eccentric broadcaster and charity fundraiser Sir Jimmy Savile and attempts to get behind the public persona.4/10 Even back then all eyes were on Jimmy Savile, people knew what was going on but turned a blind eye because that man was making them money. This part of the "When Louis Met..." series is one of the best but not for the right reasons, it's uncomfortable viewing.
- DirectorMorgan SpurlockStarsJason BatemanWill ArnettMorgan SpurlockA documentary that explores the question: In the age of manscaping, metrosexuals, and grooming products galore - what does it mean to be a man?4/10 Of all the things to make a documentary about. I see what they were going for, I just don't think it worked and the comedy segments were considerably less funny than I think were intended.
- DirectorPatrick CreadonStarsJudy BarbosaSøren BjergMichal BlicharzThis Is a documentary about life and struggle of people for becoming professional gamers.4/10 I'm a gamer, a huge gamer in fact so I should have liked this. How poorly made the whole thing is ruined it for me and turned subject matter I adore into a droning pointless mess.
- DirectorStacy PeraltaStarsSean PennJay AdamsTony AlvaDocumentary about the pioneering 1970s Zephyr skating team.5/10 I grew up skateboarding, snowboarding and generally being one of the guys focused on here so I could relate. Sadly it's barely entertaining and though I enjoyed the historical background it really came across rather repetitive.
- DirectorDennis M. LynchStarsDennis M. LynchA documentary that explores the human and financial costs of illegal immigration.5/10 Heavily bias documentary about the cost of immigration into America. Though a lot of facts are presented the underlining reasons for these people coming over the border isn't touched upon. Made by a heartless empathy free individual, the thing should have presented both sides.
- DirectorHeidi EwingRachel GradyStarsMike PapantonioLou EngleBecky FischerA documentary on kids who attend a summer camp hoping to become the next Billy Graham.5/10 Jesus Camp is horrifying and fascinating at the same time. It shows a kind of child abuse that is accepted and across America is in fact encouraged. These poor children, lied to, indoctrinated, filled with love for a fictional being and filled with hate for those who are different. Devastating, hard hitting, and sickening.
- DirectorSamuel VartekStarsJim OlsonTony ClarkeMaude BarlowWars of the future will be fought over water as they are over oil today, as the source of human survival enters the global marketplace and political arena. Corporate giants, private investors, and corrupt governments vie for control of our dwindling supply, prompting protests, lawsuits, and revolutions from citizens fighting for the right to survive. Past civilizations have collapsed from poor water management.5/10 Sadly most of what is presented in Blue Gold is unbias and a series of stone cold facts. Trouble is most people are aware of all of it, but it's out of our hands what happens next.
- DirectorSimon ArdizzoneRussell MichaelsStarsJames NaughtonBev HarrisDeanie LoweThe film the voting machine corporations don't want you to see. HACKING DEMOCRACY follows investigator/grandmother, Bev Harris, and her citizen-activists as they set out to uncover how America counts its votes. Proving the votes can be stolen without a trace culminates in a duel between the Diebold corporation's voting machines and a computer hacker - with America's democracy at stake.5/10 Passable but ultimately lackluster documentary about the amount of essentially "Cyber" fraud takes place in the USA in regards to elections.
- DirectorEmma CooperStarsStuart LinderLouis TherouxLouis Theroux gets under the skin of the plastic surgery patients of Beverly Hills.5/10 I love Louis Theroux but this addresses a subject I simply don't understand. Many of the people interviewed I think should genuinely be given mental health screenings! I'm concerned for their well being, their motivations for doing what they do to themselves.
- DirectorWill YappStarsLouis TherouxNeil HamiltonChristine Hamilton5/10 The most awkward of all of Louis's interviews we see Mr Theroux get up close and personal with the corrupt politician and his wife. Passable stuff, but for the wrong reasons.
- DirectorAlex GibneyStarsAlex GibneyBrian Keith AllenMoazzam BeggAlex Gibney exposes the haunting details of the USA's torture and interrogation practices during the War in Afghanistan.5/10 Oscar winning documentary pulling back the veil on the methods used by the US in the middle east during detainment including torture and questionable interrogation. Watchable stuff and certainly hard hitting, but I expected more.
- DirectorDavis GuggenheimStarsAl GoreBilly WestGeorge BushFilmmaker Davis Guggenheim follows Al Gore on the lecture circuit, as the former presidential candidate campaigns to raise public awareness of the dangers of global warming and calls for immediate action to curb its destructive effects on the environment.5/10 The sad thing about this infamous documentary is that the majority of people know every single part of it already. We don't need to be told, we're aware but the unwashed masses are a combination of folks who can do nothing......and won't do anything.
- DirectorBrian ArmstrongStarsJohn ChisholmEli MartinezThe premise of the program is that sharks can be brought into a state of tonic immobility by flipping them on their back, and that this characteristic might explain how a supposed series of Great white shark killings occurred.5/10 Oddly titled Shark documentary, interesting enough but repeats itself in a rather offensive manner.
- DirectorTorsten HoffmannMichael WatchulonisStarsJohn BarrettAndreas M. AntonopoulosJeffrey A. TuckerFor anyone who has not fully understood the controversial Bitcoin yet, this is a concise and informative crash course about Money and Crypto Currencies.5/10 A fascinating background on the history of Bitcoin. My issue however is that I believe it to be a fad, a dangerous fad with no future. This documentary doesn't address those obvious concerns.
- DirectorTim FerranteStarsJames KarenBobbie BreseeForrest J. AckermanA compilation of trailers and previews from classic low-budget sci-fi and horror films.5/10 A series of classic horror trailers, certainly entertaining but hard to call it or even the segments between a "Documentary".
- DirectorWerner HerzogStarsElon MuskLawrence KraussLucianne WalkowiczWerner Herzog's exploration of the Internet and the connected world.5/10 Werner Herzog provides another interesting but excessively stretched out documentary thant mildly enlightens but ultimately bores.
