Most underrated movies
On this list there are movies I think should be more universally praised. None of these are on top 250, many of which should. Some may be considered good but I think they are not valued enough high.

- DirectorRoman PolanskiStarsJohnny DeppFrank LangellaLena OlinA book broker discovers his latest find may summon Satan.Dark playing with dark themes. A gothic masterpiece, my favorite Polanski movie.
- DirectorAvi NesherStarsJennifer GreyCraig ShefferDaniel LapaineAn American nurse living in Jamaica grows suspicious of the nearby group of Voodoo practitioners.Unbelievably underrated flick, don't take it too seriously. The movie has a great jungle buzz and fun to watch.
- DirectorTerrence MalickStarsJim CaviezelSean PennNick NolteAdaptation of James Jones' autobiographical 1962 novel, focusing on the conflict at Guadalcanal during the second World War.This is the only Terrence Malick movie I've seen this far (12/2015) but it meant a world to me. A hypnotic, different kind of war movie that focuses on the psyche of soldiers. Holy sh*t. Perhaps the best war movie of all time.
- DirectorMark JonesStarsWarwick DavisJennifer AnistonKen OlandtAn evil, sadistic Leprechaun goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold.Yeah, this movie is terrible but I can't help loving it. A perfect example of a movie that is so bad that it's good. Same goes to the whole movie series. And Jennifer Aniston here! NNICE
- DirectorMary HarronStarsChristian BaleJustin TherouxJosh LucasA wealthy New York City investment banking executive, Patrick Bateman, hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he delves deeper into his violent, hedonistic fantasies.I really wonder why this movie hasn't made its way to Top 250. Patrick Bateman is INSANELY great a character and well performed by Christian Bale. The closing scene and the monologue gives me goosebumps every time.
- DirectorNicolas Winding RefnStarsKim BodniaZlatko BuricLaura DrasbækA drug pusher grows increasingly desperate after a botched deal leaves him with a large debt to a ruthless drug lord.A cruel story about a guy that doesn't get anything right. The other parts of the trilogy are great too. My favorite among all Nicholas Winding Refn films (until I saw Drive)
- DirectorDaniel HallerStarsSandra DeeDean StockwellEd BegleyWilbur Whateley travels to the Arkham Miskatonic University to borrow the legendary Necronomicon. But, little does anyone know, Whateley isn't quite human...Not so great a movie when it comes to the plot and details, but I sincerely recommed to watch this. A nice depicting of 70's acid trip scenes and the same song repeats itself throughout the whole movie every time there is any music. Really hypnotic, really. I also love Lovecraft, not that he has much to do with this movie, really.
- DirectorNicolas Winding RefnStarsTom HardyKelly AdamsLuing AndrewsA young man who was sentenced to seven years in prison for robbing a post office ends up spending three decades in solitary confinement. During this time, his own personality is supplanted by his alter-ego, Charles Bronson.Another NFR film on the list. Impressive performance by Tom Hardy. Insane, I tell you. The asylum disco scene is a remarkable scene in movie history!
- DirectorJames WanStarsKevin BaconJohn GoodmanKelly PrestonNick Hume is a mild-mannered executive with a perfect life, until one gruesome night he witnesses something that changes him forever. Transformed by grief, Hume eventually comes to the disturbing conclusion that no length is too great when protecting his family. An awesome desperation-ridden revenge story with a perfect blend of suspense and horror elements.
- DirectorLuc BessonStarsScarlett JohanssonMorgan FreemanChoi Min-sikA woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.Come on, nobody believed that in the first place, who cares!
- DirectorScott DerricksonStarsEthan HawkeJuliet RylanceJames RansoneA controversial true-crime writer finds a box of Super 8 home movies in his new home, revealing that the murder case he is currently researching could be the work of an unknown serial killer whose legacy dates back to the 1960s.The first horror movie I ever saw in its entirety and left its mark on me. A great and creeping story about an obsessed novelist. Clichés are almost impossible to avoid when it comes to horror movies but more importantly here the execution is extremely good.
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsMichael J. FoxTrini AlvaradoPeter DobsonAfter a tragic car accident that kills his wife, a man discovers he can communicate with the dead, and he uses that gift to con people. However, when a demonic spirit appears, he may be the only one who can stop it from killing the living and the dead.A very entertaining self-camp humor package
- DirectorCurtis HansonStarsAnnabella SciorraRebecca De MornayMatt McCoyAfter her sex offender husband gets caught in the act and kills himself, an embittered pregnant widow loses her child, and embarks on a mission of vengeance against one of her husband's victims and the woman's family.I thought this was a film for women but its another great story about loss, insanity and obsession.
- DirectorOliver ParkerStarsRowan AtkinsonRosamund PikeDominic WestJohnny English goes up against international assassins hunting down Chinese Premier Xiang Ping.Better than the first movie, I cracked so many times!
- DirectorDrew GoddardStarsKristen ConnollyChris HemsworthAnna HutchisonFive college friends head out to a remote cabin for a getaway, but things don't go as planned when they start getting killed. They soon discover that there is more to the cabin than it seems.Avant-gardish horror movie that is one of the best ones in this millenium. Somewhat ground-breaking for me! I haven't heard anyone praising this one and I think it should be.
- DirectorMcGStarsChristian BaleSam WorthingtonAnton YelchinIn 2018, a mysterious new weapon in the war against the machines, half-human and half-machine, comes to John Connor on the eve of a resistance attack on Skynet. But whose side is he on, and can he be trusted?A different kind of angle to the story. Don't hate but I think this one is better than The Terminator (1984)
