The MG 42 (Maschinengewehr 42, or "machine gun 42") was a general purpose machine gun designed in Germany and used extensively by the Wehrmacht during World War II.
It was an excellent machine gun, and the Americans later created the M-60 machine gun based on the MG 42 specs.
The MG 42 had a record of strong durability, simplicity, reliability, and ease of use.
