Vanessa Joy Minnillo was born on November 9, 1980, at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. She is the daughter of Helen Ramos Bercero and Vincent Charles Minnillo, a crew member on an Air Force aircraft (he has since retired). Her father is American, from Ohio, and is of half Italian, one quarter Russian-Jewish, and one quarter Irish, descent. Her mother is a Filipina, whom he met while based in the Philippines. Vanessa and her family, which includes her brother Vincent, who is two years older than she, lived in California, Nevada, Florida, Germany and Japan, before settling down in Charleston, South Carolina. Vanessa attended seven different schools during this time, and participated in cheerleading and volunteer work for numerous local charities.
Her parents divorced in 1986, and Helen was awarded custody of both children; Vanessa only saw her father on weekends. When her mother remarried, the family moved to Turkey, where her new stepfather, who was in the U.S. Air Force, was assigned. They were forced to evacuate when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990, leading to the Gulf War of 1991, and Helen brought the kids back to the U.S., leaving them with their father until she could get back on her feet. That would be the last time that Vanessa would see her mother, who never returned. Instead, Vanessa began a new life, along with her brother, living with her father Vince and his new wife, Donna, whom she now calls her "best friend".
With her life more settled, Vanessa began to turn her attention to the Miss South Carolina Teen USA beauty pageant in 1996. She had loved cheerleading since she was a young child, and was very keen on performing in front of an audience. With her unaffected style and natural ebullience, she easily won over the judges, sweeping all the categories before winning the crown. Two years later, on August 17, 1998, she competed in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Though it was preempted by CBS' live coverage of a speech by President Bill Clinton regarding the Monica Lewinsky ordeal; in the end, she wowed the Miss Teen USA judges just as she had the Miss South Carolina Teen USA judges two years earlier. It was her second pageant, and her second victory.
In the three years since handing over her Miss Teen USA crown, Vanessa has concentrated on college, acting and modeling. She has a promising future, and was recently one of the finalists in E!'s competition to find a replacement for Brooke Burke as hostess for the show, Wild On... (1997). Though the job ultimately went to Cindy Taylor, Vanessa made a big impression with "Wild On..." fans across the world, and hopes to continue working in television for some time to come.
Vanessa began dating singer Nick Lachey in 2006, shortly after Jessica Simpson filed for divorce from him. The couple married in 2011, and have three children.- Angelica Panganiban was born in Payatas, Quezon City on November 4, 1986. She was the Junior-Senior Prom Princess in 2002 and Miss Junior and Senior Prom in 2003. She was also a cheerleader and a Feature Editor in their school newspaper. Family
In the October 14, 2004 episode of TV drama series Magpakailanman of GMA Network, which featured her life story, viewers learned more about her childhood.
In May 4, 1991, when she was nearly four years old, she made headlines as a battered child. Her assailant was her stepfather, who burned her skin with cigarette butts and whacked her back with a flat iron. Her mother, who was then in Dubai working as a domestic helper, immediately came home. She came not to take care of her daughter, however, but to bail out her partner, who was in detention.
Her mother migrated to London and had her own family. Jennylyn's aunt, Lydia Mercado, legally adopted her.
In June 2004, Jennylyn's biological father, Noli Pineda, now 50, came home for a holiday. His arrival did not go unnoticed by the press. Reports came out saying that he was asking for money from his now self-sufficient daughter (an accusation she has strongly denied, insisting that her father wanted her to use his surname Pineda). She and her biological father, who is based in Korea, keep in touch.
Jennylyn is now the official spokesperson of the Bata Foundation (Christian Mission Services), a non-governmental organization. It operates with basic funding support from its partner organization, Christlicher Missionsdienst (CMD) headquartered in Germany, supplementary assistance from two Japanese organizations and a few local groups, with the help of Feed Hungry Inc. and the GMA Artist Center.
School
Jennylyn was a senior at the Augustinian Abbey in Las Piñas, where she actively took part in school programs, from Prep to 4th year High School.
Because of her hectic work schedule after winning Starstruck, she had to take a leave from school. If given the time and opportunity to pursue her studies further, the young actress has said that she'd like to take up Mass Communications as a major. In a more recent interview though, she mentioned Interior Design as her preference.
Starstruck
StarStruck is the first reality-based talent search on Philippine television in recent history. Its pilot episode aired on October 27, 2003. Out of thousands who auditioned for a stab at stardom, only 100 were chosen for the first cut. From 100, it was trimmed down to 60, from 60 to 30 and from 30 to the 14 finalists. Needless to say, Jennylyn made the cut.
The final fourteen underwent various workshops and training in order to develop their personalities, talents, etc. But, the twist was that every week, one of the Final 14 will have to say goodbye until only four remain.
The winner was announced on a two-hour TV special dubbed StarStruck Final Judgement held on February 1, 2004. Araneta Coliseum, the venue of the event was jampacked by thousands of StarStruck fans and supporters. Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado were proclaimed Ultimate Survivors and each of them received one million pesos plus exclusive contracts from GMA Network. The Final Judgment rated 42.8%, impressively high for a late Sunday night telecast.
Because of the StarStruck fever, GMA Network created a new show, Stage 1: The StarStruck Playhouse. The StarStruck test continues on this show where the Final 14 have to prove their staying power in the business. Every week from Mondays to Thursdays, the show presents a miniseries starring the starstruck 1 final 14, this time their acting prowess is put into test. The show already went off the air with high ratings.
Fridays would serve as critical day because the audience will judge their performance for the week through text messaging. An acting award is also given to the survivor who excelled in that week. Stage 1: LIVE! is also somewhat a variety show for the Survivors. If Mondays to Thursdays, they showed their acting skills, during Fridays, they are able to show their dancing, singing and hosting prowess. The show was hosted by Chynna Ortaleza and Cogie Domingo with Raymond Gutierrez. The show already went off the air with high ratings.- Actress

However, she was a gifted athlete and ultimately found her niche as a "tomboy".
In 2005, she attended a talent search in Las Vegas, where she acquired a scholarship to attend The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. The only daughter of actors 'Gabby Concepcion' and 'Sharon Cuneta', Kristina Cassandra Concepcion or simply known as K.C. to the entire Philippines has always been considered a showbiz royalty, even recognizing her as the nation's "princess" given the fact the her parents were the most promising reel couple back in the 80s admired by millions of fans all throughout the country. The on-screen chemistry later became a real-life fairy tale wedding in 1985 which soon bore their one and only daughter. Her parents' union did not last long which eventually ended in separation only four years later after the grand church wedding. Sharon Cuneta continued her acting career and would soon become the highest paid actress and commercial endorser up to this date while K.C.'s father Gabby, opted to fly to the United States in 1995 and permanently resided in California.
All throughout her young life, although she hasn't been officially counted as an artist, Concepcion has always been loved by the media and many of her parents' fans. She has made few uncredited appearances during her mother's concerts and television shows but it was not until in early 2003 when K.C. explored the world of advertising, becoming the spokesperson of major products in the country. She became one of the most sought after commercial endorsers both in television and print ads. On that same year, ABS-CBN Network televised what would be K.C.'s introduction to the society as a young lady, celebrating her 18th birthday which became the highest rated TV special that season.
People were anticipating for her grand entrance to the world that her parents were once loved but instead of accepting multiple movie and television deals, K.C. flew to France in 2003 to start her college life, taking up International Corporate Communications with a minor in Theatre Arts at the prestigious American University of Paris. In 2007, four years later, K.C. was joined by her mother, Sharon, her stepfather, politician Francisco Pangilinan, and younger sisters, Frankie and Miel (her mother's daughters with Pangilinan) as she marched for her college graduation.
Instead of pursuing her studies in the United States which she originally thought of doing after her stint in Paris, Concepcion went back home to the Philippines and made her official acting debut. It was in early 2008 when she wowed fans with a special number for her mother's birthday concert, a TV special featuring her last days in Paris, and her first ever television drama special, an episode for Maalaala Mo Kaya.
At 23, K.C. Concepcion has made her own mark in the business and has maintained a good image which made her a role model for the Filipino youth.- Actress
