- DirectorOren PeliStarsKatie FeatherstonMicah SloatMark FredrichsAfter moving into a suburban home, a couple becomes increasingly disturbed by a nightly demonic presence.PARANORMAL ACTIVITY was developed as a micro-budget indie horror movie shot in the found footage style. I'm knocking a star off for utilizing found footage which I personally despise although in all fairness I never felt PARANORMAL ACTIVITY used it as a crutch or a mask as many film-makers do. Paramount scooped up the rights and released elements as if it were a viral video onto the internet much in the way THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT generated buzz a few years ago. This slight tale of a couple battling demonic forces in their home became one of the most profitable films ever made. A studio imposed stronger ending helped, no doubt. Followed by a slew of sequels and rip offs. Part VII is due in theatres in 2021
- DirectorTod WilliamsStarsKatie FeatherstonMicah SloatMolly EphraimAfter experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem.PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 was the enormously successful found footage style horror pic which explains the tragedy that befell the house's previous occupants. A pleasant young couple & their child are tormented by demonic occurrences which reveal themselves on security cameras. It's a lousy film to look at & not much to think about.
- DirectorHenry JoostAriel SchulmanStarsChloe CsengeryJessica Tyler BrownChristopher Nicholas SmithIn 1988, young sisters Katie and Kristi befriend an invisible entity called Toby, who resides in their home.PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 is yet another prequel set almost 20 years before Parts 1 & 2. A family are tormented by demonic forces and a strange coven of witches in this average supernatural found footage thriller. This was the highest grossing in the franchise.
- DirectorHenry JoostAriel SchulmanStarsStephen DunhamKatie FeatherstonMatt ShivelyIt has been five years since the disappearance of Katie and Hunter, and a suburban family witness strange events in their neighborhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in.This 4rth popular entry in the found footage PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series wraps itself in the vague mythology explored in parts 1-3. We see again the possessed young woman named Katie, the boy she abducted & the various folks who've died in the house or who are about to. There's also some mumbo jumbo about a coven of witches. Nothing about it is especially scary.
- DirectorChristopher LandonStarsAndrew JacobsJorge DiazGabrielle WalshWhen a young man becomes the target of a malevolent entity, he must uncover its true intentions before it takes complete control of him.A group of young people investigate the death of a woman everyone suspected of being a witch. Sure enough, she was tied to a coven & performed satanic rituals to enslave the bodies of the male children they've stolen. In addition to all that there's a time warp inside the haunted house now permitting the unwary to travel to the past. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONE'S was shot in that found footage style I personally detest.
- DirectorGregory PlotkinStarsChris J. MurrayBrit ShawIvy GeorgeUsing a special camera that can see spirits, a family must protect their daughter from an evil entity with a sinister plan. This found footage horror pic features the torment of a new family using old cameras to record the frightening supernatural events occurring all around them. It all ties to a coven of witches who kidnap the 1st born sons & offer them up as hosts for demons to possess. The underlying mythology behind these movies becomes more ludicrous with every telling.
- DirectorDavid ListerStarsRenee BowenRemi BroadwayJoel Amos ByrnesA tsunami floods Malibu and unleashes a hunting pack of deep-water prehistoric goblin sharks, targeting a group of lifeguards trapped in their half-submerged station on stilts and a team of construction workers stranded in a flooded house.Right off the bat the special shark effects are terrible. However, the acting (by a cast of largely unknowns) is way above average. The laughs are there; intentional or not, which is also a plus. I had fun watching it despite the fact it's trash. An earthquake causes a rift to open in the ocean floor from which emerge ferocious prehistoric sharks while the subsequent tsunami strands a group of lifeguards & construction workers who make for nice shark snacks. This SyFy tv movie is the 19th in a series of 'when nature attacks' flicks bannered by the title 'ManEater'
- DirectorBob MisiorowskiStarsCordell McQueenCasper Van DienChris OlleyIn a once serene African fishing village, a marine biologist goes in search of some answers when his friend becomes a victim in one of a series of brutal shark attacks.Casper DRACULA 3000 Van Dien stars as a marine biologist investigating the death of his friend who was killed by a genetically altered great white. Several sharks have been modified with the constant urge to kill. SHARK ATTACK was ok. The gore was plentiful and the cast was attractive. A bloated sub plot about angry villagers and corrupt police bogs things down. Followed by three sequels.
- DirectorDavid WorthStarsThorsten KayeNikita AgerDan MetcalfeThe mutant sharks from Dr. Craven's experiments in "Shark Attack 1" are back, this time choosing Cape Town, South Africa as their hunting ground.SHARK ATTACK 2 is a relatively gore free JAWS rip off which was dumped onto the direct-to-video market. Thorsten Kaye stars as a scientist who discovers 6 genetically modified great white sharks living in a cave near a water resort. The stock footage coupled with utterly unconvincing shark fabrications make for one boring movie. Followed by the slightly worse SHARK ATTACK 3: MEGALODON
- DirectorDavid WorthStarsJohn BarrowmanJenny McShaneRyan CutronaWhen two researchers discover a colossal shark's tooth off the Mexican coast, their worst fears surface: the most menacing beast to ever rule the waters is still alive and mercilessly feeding on anything that crosses its path.John CENTRAL PARK WEST Barrowman stars as a marine biologist investigating the sudden appearence of an extinct, prehistoric breed of shark. The 60 foot long megalodon have been driven from their trench on the ocean floor by electrical emissions via fiber optic cables. The special effects are embarassing to watch. The acting is every bit as cringe worthy as the dialogue. On the plus side; it's not as boring as SHARK ATTACK 2. One terrible scene stumbles clumsily into another at a brisk pace. Followed by SHARK ZONE
- DirectorJohn ShepphirdStarsJack ScaliaJeremy LukeJoseph RussoA cast of characters, strikingly similar to the cast of Jersey Shore, try to survive an epidemic of sharks attacking Miami Beach. In 1916 America endured a terrifying series of shark attacks along the Jersey Shore that left at least 4 people dead within the span of a week. That would have made a better movie that what CHUPACABRA TERROR director John Shepphird served up to SyFy television audiences. Jack HOLLYWOOD WIVES: THE NEW GENERATION Scalia heads this mediocre JAWS ripoff wherein the chum cast into the water resembles the performers in the reality series JERSEY SHORE
- DirectorCole SharpeStarsKabby BordersChristina MastersonMichelle CortésA tropical singles retreat takes a terrifying turn when guests realize a poisonous shark is infesting the surrounding water. Not only will it rip apart its victims, but it also uses projectile acid to hunt - in and out of the water.A new breed of man-eating shark begins spewing acidic, disease carrying slime at beach goers causing them to develop shark rabies. The Cg is terrible but the cast (mostly unknowns) keeps the mood light and briskly paced. Most of the action takes place at a fitness resort beach so there's plenty to look at besides the dismembered limbs floating in the surf.
- DirectorDanny LernerStarsStephen BaldwinVanessa JohanssonHilda van der MeulenTraveling to Venice to investigate his father's mysterious death, famous archaeologist and diver David (Stephen Baldwin) unearths a killer secret that lies beneath the Venetian waters. The SHARK IN VENICE shark attacks are horribly filmed. These brief choppy sloppy flash cut sequences entirely fail to deliver the goods and the gore is little to none. That's a big draw-back for a shark attack pic. Especially one starring bland Stephen THE FLINTSTONES IN VIVA ROCK VEGAS Baldwin. Baldwin plays a professor and scuba diver who gets swept into a boring adventure about a hidden treasure guarded by sharks and coveted by gangsters. Skip it.
- DirectorDanny LernerStarsDean CochranAlan AustinBrandi SherwoodA man with a fear of sharks is forced by a Russian crime syndicate to find sunken treasure in the breeding ground for a shoal of man-eating Great Whites.Officially this film is SHARK ATTACK 4 and was directed by Danny Lerner who made a very similar and equally bad film in 2008 called SHARK IN VENICE. A young man played by Dean AMITYVILLE IT'S ABOUT TIME Cochran goes treasure hunting hoping to find it before the gangsters do. While searching he discovers a voracious shark who devoured his father a decade before. It's lowly. The stock footage of sharks isn't any more convincing than the practical effects gore which is splattered few and far between.
- DirectorChristopher RayStarsCarmen ElectraCharlie O'ConnellBrooke HoganSurvivors escape to a deserted atoll, after their boat during a Semester at Sea ship is sunk by a mutated two-headed shark. But when the atoll starts flooding, no one is safe from the double jaws of the monster. One of Asylum's more lively low rent entertainments about a group of young people stranded on a crumbling island while being stalked by a mutant, two-headed shark. Followed by 3 HEADED SHARK ATTACK, 5 HEADED SHARK ATTACK & 6 HEADED SHARK ATTACK.
- DirectorChristopher RayStarsKarrueche TranJaason SimmonsRob Van DamAs a mutated, three-headed, great white shark eats its way from one end of the ship to the next, the passengers have to fight the deadly predator using anything they can find.Wrestler Rob BLACK MASK 2: CITY OF MASKS Van Dam, Karrueche JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT Tran and PREDATORS star Danny Trejo took top billing in this ridiculous tv movie sequel to the absurd 2-HEADED SHARK ATTACK from poverty studio; The Asylum. A 3 headed great white attacks teenagers partying on an island & a submersed scientific installation leaving survivors to figure out how to defeat the pollution based mutation. Dreadful. Followed by 5-HEADED SHARK ATTACK.
- DirectorNico De LeonStarsChris BrunoNikki HowardLindsay SawyerShaped like a demented starfish, a monster 5-headed shark terrorizes the open ocean before invading the beaches of Puerto Rico, endangering the once peaceful island paradise. This terrible tv movie from the Asylum isn't even good for laughs. A 4 headed shark begins snacking on young people all the while developing a stunted fifth head on the tip of it's tail. The CG effects are as bad as the acting.
- DirectorMark AtkinsStarsBrandon AuretThandi SebeCord NewmanAttendees of a marriage boot camp on a remote island have to fight a 6-headed shark that attacks the beach.A 6 headed shark terrorizes a group of couples in and out of water. It seems this 6 headed shark uses 4 of his heads as defacto legs so that it may tip-toe on land carefully balanced on it's snouts. Did I mention each of the heads can regenerate like a starfish that looses a limb? Producer THE ASYLUM plays this SHARKNADO-esque tv movie sequel for laughs in lieu of genuine scares or suspense.
- DirectorMark AtkinsStarsJohn SavageJack ArmstrongThandi SebeOn a future earth where 98% of the surface is underwater, a Warlord who controls an army of sharks meets his match when he captures the daughter of a mysterious shark caller.A young woman with strange psychic powers comes into possession of a mysterious medallion which grants her the ability to control sharks. And since the world has been flooded because of some global catastrophe and the pockets of human civilization are regulated to tiny raft cities she and her powers become a sought after commodity. EMPIRE OF THE SHARKS is every bit as dull as the original despite the mumbo jumbo. The shark attack sequences just are not up to par.
- DirectorMark AtkinsStarsBrandon AuretStephanie BeranLindsay SullivanIn the near future, glacial melting has covered ninety-eight percent of Earth's landmass. Sharks have flourished, and now dominate the planet, operating as one massive school led by a mutated alpha shark.Global warming seems to have melted the glaciers causing ocean levels to rise. Now mankind is reduced to living on sloppily constructed raft cities & towns on the high seas. The dominant species is now the shark and man has slipped to 2nd place on the food chain. This low budget SyFy pic features the prerequisite number of shark attacks but they're rather bloodless and not in the least scary. Boring. Followed by EMPIRE OF THE SHARKS
- DirectorMisty TalleyStarsBecky AndrewsRoss BritzCarter BurchA perfect getaway for four friends turns into survival when they fight an experimental shark. This terrible tv movie was better known as ZOMBIE SHARKS. 4 friends on a beachfront holiday are terrorized by monsters of the deep who's bite can also infect humans. Ridiculous story, atrocious acting and sub standard CG effects sank this like a ratings stone.
- DirectorAnthony C. FerranteStarsIan ZieringTara ReidJohn HeardWhen a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, nature's deadliest killer rules sea, land, and air as thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace. There are cult classics and camp classics and now there are click bait classics like SHARKNADO which found an audience willing to give the ridiculous premise a look based on nothing but internet buzz. A waterspout carries the flying sharks into downtown LA where nothing stands between them and humanity but the daring do of Ian BEVERLY HILLS 90210 Ziering. The script is as drastic as the lousy special effects. Made by mockbuster studio; The Asylum. Followed by numerous sequels and rip offs.
- DirectorAnthony C. FerranteStarsIan ZieringTara ReidVivica A. FoxFin and April are on their way to New York City, until a category seven hurricane spawns heavy rain, storm surges, and deadly Sharknadoes. After the positively 'viral' reaction to the click-bait trash that was SHARKNADO every washed up star looking for some cheap PR signed on for a cameo in this television movie which like the 1st was a hit. A massive storm converges over New York bringing with it even more deadly tornadoes loaded with man-eating sharks. It's not good enough for camp and not legit enough to deserve a cult. Mostly, it's a DOG! SHARKNADO 3: OH, HELL NO! went into production soon after.
- DirectorAnthony C. FerranteStarsIan ZieringTara ReidCassandra ScerboA monstrous tornado unleashes ravenous sharks from Washington, D.C., all the way down to Orlando, Florida.Every year brings another DOG in The Asylum's ridiculously bad SHARKNADO franchise for the SyFy network. Ian SWAMP THING Ziering stars as the chainsaw wielding, shark killing adventurer who must also contend with fognados in order to save Washington DC & his family back in Florida. A bevvy of guest stars smile for the teleprompter including Bo Derek, David Hasselhoff, Kathy Lee Gifford, Jerry Springer and Jackie Collins. The rock bottom special effects don't help.
- DirectorAnthony C. FerranteStarsIan ZieringTara ReidMasiela LushaFin, his family and the cosmos have been blissfully sharknado-free in the five years since the most recent attack, but now sharks and tornadoes are being whipped up in unexpected ways and places.Despite an impressive cast (Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Gary Busey & David Hasselhoff) & memorable supporting players (Cheryl Tiegs, Steve Guttenberg, Gilbert Gottfried & Caroline Williams as 'Stretch') this is still a really dumb movie about air born sharks. The special cg effects are every bit as cheap & unimpressive as you'd expect from The Asylum; the studio which brought you NAZIS AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. With storms ravaging across America new threats emerge including cownados, lavanados bouldernados and whatever sub standard effects they could think up. Our hero (BEVERLY HILLS 90210's Ian Ziering) takes aim at these ultimate manifestations of climate change by firing at them with an experimental laser beam. SHARNADO 5: GLOBAL SWARMING debuted on the syfy network the following season.
