- DirectorJames GunnStarsMargot RobbieIdris ElbaJohn CenaSupervillains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, and a collection of nutty cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X as they are dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.Driven by its writer/director, James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” is an epic comic book masterpiece. A film that’s not afraid to go absurd and is held true to its Hard-R rating, this is a film that deserves to be seen and gladly earns its position as one of DC’s Best.
- DirectorPatty JenkinsStarsGal GadotChris PineRobin WrightWhen a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny.Epic, vibrant, and (for lack of a better word) WONDERFUL! Patty Jenkins beautiful direction combined with a powerful performance by Gal Gadot gives the DCEU it’s first great movie, and delivers a message to young girls everywhere without coming across as a film built upon it.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsHenry CavillAmy AdamsMichael ShannonAn alien child is evacuated from his dying world and sent to Earth to live among humans. His peace is threatened when other survivors of his home planet invade Earth. While the visuals are the best of any DC movie and Henry Cavill delivers a great performance. The action can feel very much like overkill and the story feels too dark and much too long for a Superman film, but there are still some great moments.
- DirectorDavid F. SandbergStarsZachary LeviMark StrongAsher AngelA newly fostered young boy in search of his mother instead finds unexpected super powers and soon gains a powerful enemy.Great performances from Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, and Jack Dylan Grazer. With a wonderful screenplay and a third act that makes this already fantastic film amazing. Sandberg’s “Shazam!” proves to be a fun and entirely entertaining superhero comedy, with Levi making the most of it.
- DirectorJames WanStarsJason MomoaAmber HeardWillem DafoeArthur Curry, the human-born heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, goes on a quest to prevent a war between the worlds of ocean and land.Visually stunning and epic on a grand scale. The fun, entertaining “Aquaman” is all but made thanks to James Wan’s voice and Jason Mamoa’s stellar performance, which in turn gave the DCEU its first Billion Dollar Movie, and Aquaman no less.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsHenry CavillBen AffleckGal GadotDetermined to ensure that Superman's ultimate sacrifice wasn't in vain, Bruce Wayne recruits a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. While the movie is LONG! The passion brought about by Zack Snyder, the performances by the actors, and the action make this long awaited cut a major milestone in DC and superhero history.
- DirectorAndy MuschiettiStarsEzra MillerMichael KeatonSasha CalleBarry Allen uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without super heroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future.“The Flash” is victim to plenty of controversy and bts drama, that sadly distract from an otherwise good performance from Ezra Miller, but despite this the effects are hit and miss, and the story feels overly large when a run of the mill Flash film would’ve been appreciated. All in all the film is neither the best nor worst of the DCEU
- DirectorCathy YanStarsMargot RobbieRosie PerezMary Elizabeth WinsteadAfter splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroines Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.Fun and assured direction from Cathy Yan helps further Margot Robbie’s electric performance as Harley Quinn shine with the colorful aesthetic, R rating, and Ewan McGregor making this a wonderful superhero romp that would be much higher if the writing was just as focused.
- DirectorDavid F. SandbergStarsZachary LeviAsher AngelJack Dylan GrazerThe film continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!", is transformed into his adult superhero alter ego, Shazam.“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is a safe and at times messy sequel that, while fun was clearly left in the dust during a DC switch. It’s still enjoyable, but no where near the first.
- DirectorJaume Collet-SerraStarsDwayne JohnsonAldis HodgePierce BrosnanNearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods--and imprisoned just as quickly--Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.“Black Adam” is a great showcase for action and it’s clear Dwayne Johnson is having the time of his life. This is a more than average superhero film that boasts great visuals and Pierce Brosnan stands out as Dr. Fate, but aside from that no new ground is broken. The hierarchy of power may not have changed, but it’s a fun time.
- DirectorPatty JenkinsStarsGal GadotChris PineKristen WiigDiana must contend with a colleague, and with a businessman whose desire for extreme wealth sends the world down a path of destruction, after an ancient artifact that grants wishes goes missing.Despite being undoubtedly fun and featuring great performances from the core cast. The script leaves many things to be desired, especially when comparing it’s predecessor. WW84 has fun moments but ultimately squanders it’s full potential.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckHenry CavillAmy AdamsBatman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge.Too long and too dark. Zack Snyder’s BvS is a film that could’ve been so much more but is instead something very meh. But Affleck, Cavill, and Adams delivers sound performances, and the visuals while drab look fairly realistic.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckGal GadotJason MomoaFueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his new-found ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. While it’s great to see the Justice League finally on screen together, the stark contrast between Whedon and Snyder scenes makes the film feel uneven, the visuals are terrible, and the villain poses no threat. Which in turn delivers a somewhat fun but ultimately disappointing feature.
- DirectorDavid AyerStarsWill SmithJared LetoMargot RobbieA secret government agency recruits some of the most dangerous incarcerated super-villains to form a defensive task force. Their first mission: save the world from the apocalypse.Perfectly cast and well acted, but tonally uneven and lacking an investing story. Suicide Squad could’ve been something fun and entertaining all the way through, and while moments were (Will Smith and Margot Robbie) the final product left no one asking for more.
