- DirectorJames CameronStarsLeonardo DiCaprioKate WinsletBilly ZaneA seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.I have to be honest, here. When I was younger, I used to hate this movie with a passion, mainly because I was confused of what was going on, and scared of it. I started to get into it when I was eleven years old, and I became touched by its power immediately. The romance between the two main protagonists is so passionate and strong, making it almost realistic. It is a truly depressing and moving film. James Cameron is an absolute genius.
- DirectorCharles ChaplinStarsCharles ChaplinEdna PurvianceJackie CooganThe Tramp cares for an abandoned child, but events put their relationship in jeopardy. This was the first Charles Chaplin film I ever saw with my mother when it was playing on TCM. It has funny and heartwarming scenes, which you don't see in most movies today.
- DirectorNorman JewisonStarsTed NeeleyCarl AndersonYvonne EllimanFilm version of the musical stage play, presenting the last few weeks of Christ's life told in an anachronistic manner.Being a Christian, it won't take me hours to tell you how truly wonderful this movie is. Everything is fantastic; the acting, the music, etc. Ted Neeley and the late Carl Anderson do outstanding performances as Jesus and Judas. This movie is great, and there is simply no comparison to the 2000 remake.
- DirectorJohn RobertsStarsGena RowlandsTony ShalhoubCheech MarinA talking parrot named Paulie recounts his travels to look for his original owner to a Russian janitor who helps him to the end of his journey.Like Disney's 1994 classic. "The Lion King," this precious movie will always be a lifelong memory of my childhood.
- DirectorDale RosenbloomStarsBlake HeronMichael MoriartyScott WilsonA small-town Southern boy named Marty Preston must rescue a young beagle from his abusive owner, Judd Travers.A wonderful and touching story about love and doing what's right. The sequel, "Shiloh Season" actually got me into watching this one when I was a child.
- DirectorSandy TungStarsZachary BrowneScott WilsonMichael MoriartyWhen Shiloh's abusive previous owner, Judd Travers, tries to retake Shiloh again, Ray tries to find a way to end the rivalry and open up the hidden kindness within the town drunk.A very touching and moving sequel. I'd even say it's better than the original.
- DirectorRob LaDucaRobert C. RamirezStarsBen AffleckMark HamillRichard HerdA prophet who has the ability to interpret dreams is sold into slavery in Egypt, where people learn of his gifts. This is a very good film based on the story of Genesis. Its animation is downright beautiful and it has wonderful songs. A gem for anyone who has enjoyed "The Prince of Egypt."
- DirectorBaz LuhrmannStarsLeonardo DiCaprioClaire DanesJohn LeguizamoShakespeare's famous play is updated to the hip modern suburb of Verona still retaining its original dialogue. This movie, "Titanic" and "Total Eclipse" are undeniable proof Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the best actors of the early and current generations.
"Romeo & Juliet" was the second movie I saw him in and I've loved it, ever since. While I understand why some people don't like the modern-day settings, the acting and writing are fantastic. - DirectorFranco ZeffirelliStarsLeonard WhitingOlivia HusseyJohn McEneryWhen two young members of feuding families meet, forbidden love ensues.Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey's performances as the titular forbidden lovers are absolutely beautiful in this film. I can definitely see why this is still considered one of the best movies ever made.
- DirectorJayson ThiessenNoelle BenvenutiStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanVia a magic mirror, Twilight Sparkle travels into an alternate universe in order to recover a crown that was stolen from the Crystal Empire. Upon her arrival she is horrified to learn that she has turned into a human. While it does have some flaws, "Equestria Girls" is a film people of all ages can enjoy.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsSissy SpacekPiper LaurieAmy IrvingCarrie White, a shy, friendless teenage girl who is sheltered by her domineering, religious mother, unleashes her telekinetic powers after being humiliated by her classmates at her senior prom. The special effects and acting are great, as this movie was truly ahead of its time. No wonder it's considered a masterpiece.
- DirectorMartin RosenJohn HubleyStarsJohn HurtRichard BriersRalph RichardsonHoping to escape destruction by human developers and save their community, a colony of rabbits, led by Hazel and Fiver, seek out a safe place to set up a new warren. If you think this movie is about cute, little innocent rabbits, think again. "Watership Down" proves to be one excellent piece of cinema, but don't let its cartoony appearance fool you. The acting, music and animation really stand up to the plate. If you haven't seen it, go watch it, but if little kids are around, please keep them away!
- DirectorLee UnkrichAdrian MolinaStarsAnthony GonzalezGael García BernalBenjamin BrattAspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.I never saw "Coco" when it first came out, due to lack of interest. I discovered it on Netflix one day, and do not regret making that decision. It is an absolute joy to watch. No wonder this won a Golden Globe Award.
- DirectorBrad AndersonStarsHalle BerryEvie ThompsonAbigail BreslinWhen a veteran 911 operator takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl's life.Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin work perfectly together in this film. This is, quite possibly, the most disturbing psychological crime movie I have ever seen in my life, and there is a very good reason for that.
The writing and acting are spot on and the villain almost sent chills down my spine. That is how terrifying "The Call" truly is. How it got mixed reviews, I will never know because it deserves every bit of praise it can get.
Berry's character is the most sympathetic being you will see on screen and I felt so sorry for Casey, played by Breslin. Michael Eklund plays the most disturbing and disgusting kidnapper in the history of cinema. There were literally times where I was afraid of his character.
I will admit, the movie is far from perfect and can drag at some points, but the performances and script make up for it.
