Video games rated (PS3)
Games are ranked according to highest score but franchise entries are grouped together...so technically this list isn't a highest to lowest scoring list...but something like it.
I'll now include games that I've played before I got into the habit of reviewing them or games that I just never got around to finishing. These are the games that will appear after the long strong of PS3 titles that fill the top of my list.

3rd person shooter/stealth game with a sci-fi/horror premise
The best PlayStation 3 exclusive I've played. Terrific motion capture and voice acting. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a man must accompany a teenage girl to a rebel group, avoiding zombie like humans and...even more dangerous humans.
Paradoxically, even though I scored Bioshock Infinite less, I'm finding myself more affected it...so I'll say that that's the best game I've played on PS3 generation of games. - DirectorKen LevineStarsJohn AhlinGreg BaldwinJane BellerIn 1960, a lone survivor of a plane crash named Jack discovers an abandoned underwater utopia, only to find out that the mystery behind its creation is much more sinister than he first believed.85%

Retro-future first person shooter.
Even though I'm scoring this the lowest of the Bioshock games that I have played, I do suspect that if I'd played this first, I might have scored it the highest of all the games. Features a new setting and the graphics and graphic style are by far the best in the series.
I'd say that the narrative style of the story is a high point for the series (and perhaps for games in general)...it's woven in nicely to the gameplay. - DirectorCasey HudsonStarsJennifer HaleMark MeerKimberly BrooksEarth is under attack by a monstrous race of gigantic living ships known as the Reapers. 3rd person sci-fi shooter/role playing game.
The deepest, most immersive story I've played and with a great cast of characters you feel for.
Although the game play has never been the series' strongest suit and there are other flaws, including the great length of the story (I completed this game in about 133 hours, but that included 3 DLC stories) and needing (in hindsight) walkthroughs in how not to 'lose' the closure of sidequests or, indeed, how to bring about certain outcomes, the game nicely wraps up this story arc concerning commander Shepard.
I have no real complaints about the ending either. So, don't plan on downloading the alternative ending sequence DLC which PSN has on offer. - DirectorCasey HudsonStarsShohreh AghdashlooMaggie BairdAdam BaldwinAfter being revived from death and having to join a pro-human organization without a choice, Commander Shepard must assemble a team, battle a new threat, and make tough choices in order to save the galaxy from total annihilation once more.75%
3rd person sci-fi shooter/role playing game.
Low score purely for the fact that the PS3 didn't have the rights to the first in this series...if that was as good as this, this could easily have been at least an 80% kind of game. Looking forward to playing the final chapter some time...and the first too! I'll need to get an XBox for that though! > UPDATE: I completed the entire series on PS3, in sequence, with a new character. I have no plans on finishing the 3rd game with my 1st ME2 character, who did not play through the first in the series. - DirectorCasey HudsonStarsSteven BarrKimberly BrooksKeith DavidIn a technologically advanced future, an elite human soldier takes command of a prototype star ship and works to defend the galaxy from danger.67.5+% (?)
3rd person sci-fi shooter/role playing game
I've got a question mark next to my score because my notes don't actually have a score on it, so I'm guessing what I might have scored it. This is definitely a series worth playing in any case. It's a pity that the bug at the end of this game (as well as the issue with the 3rd game oftent not loading when you are on the internet) is so unacceptable...making it possible for some to never be able to complete this game and so take their character data into future games.
The first game has elements I like and don't like in it...some later games removed elements that I didn't mind and introduced elements that I didn't like. That's true for all the games in the series though. - StarsTim Dadabo80%

3rd person stealth/shooter game with weird Japanese sci-fi elements to the story.
Trying to get the highest honour this game can bestow (the "Big Boss" rank) can be extremely demanding and a grind to perfect...unneccessarily difficult, I think, hence the lower score. Third-person, turn-based, tactical shooter RPG
A combination of story book style narrative and XCOM:EU style action. However, your squad can take damage during their turns, as can your enemies.
This game is set in an alternative Earth, during a parallel World War II style scenario...with elements of World War I style combat.
I liked the combat and didn't find myself reloading as often as I did for XCOM: EU but the difficult battles could get grindy.
The narrative component of this game is engaging, unlike the cursory treatment that this receives in XCOM:EU. - DirectorAmy HennigStarsNolan NorthEmily RoseRichard McGonagleTreasure hunter Nathan Drake, embarks in the adventure of his life searching for the legendary treasure, El Dorado while fighting a group of mercenaries.75%

Great visuals and character acting but the difficulty spikes towards the end of the game and there is a rather ridiculous 'boss' battle early on in the game, on a train (ridiculously hard, I mean). The definitive version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, with new missions and slight modifications to the original game.
The "teleportation glitch" from XCOM: EU seems to have been fixed but something worse is in its place...random mix of aliens...which is a problem early on in the game, especially, when your squad hasn't been upgraded much and you are facing multiple aliens of the hard to kill variety...they can wipe out your entire squad...unless you restart the mission and hope to have a more sane mix of aliens the next time. - StarsJon BaileyJohn Eric BentleyBrian BloomThreatened by an unknown enemy, Earth's governments unite to form an elite paramilitary organization, known as XCOM. Addictive turn based combat plus resource management game. It just seems really difficult...there are a lot of ways to lose this game...as in you just wont see the end due to failing on the resource management side of things, for example. Despite the very steep learning curve and some bugs and glitches, this game does have a lot of replay value to it. And you will probably spend a lot of time looking up strategies online to complete the game...which is a bad sign for me.

After the mediocrity of Crysis 2, it was good not to have felt dudded buying the last (?) in this series. I played this game more than once (only played the previous game once) and I found both the upgrades you could select and the trophies you could hunt engaging to try or chase...unlike in the previous game.

First person sci-fi shooter/stealth.
A pure shooter with replay value. In fact, this is the game that I first got a Platinum trophy for. Once you come to grips with the gameplay, it becomes easier, in a sense, and the highest difficulty level was do-able for me, much to my surprise! The game was a bit glitchy on the highest difficulty level, I think, which made the game really frustrating, but I managed to make it through...somehow. On first playthrough, on Normal, I would have given this game about 65%. It's replay value bumps up my score. - DirectorCevat YerliSteven BenderStarsJanis AhernJoey AnsahPaul BirchardSet 3 years after the original game. First person sci-fi shooter/stealth.
Disappointing follow up to a tight, replayable game. This game feels interminable and has loads of cutscenes. Perhaps its worst crime is to be so glitchy...the aliens and human enemies are unbelievably stupid or glitchy in their behaviour. Laughing at their stupidity sort of breaks any tension the game is aiming for. Most annoyingly for me was the huge increase in trophies - many of them stupid - and the introduction of 'treasure' like objects...which makes the game a real grind, should you play for these...but, be warned...you'll need to download maps for locations of these objects...which I couldn't be bothered doing.
Probably the most damning thing I could say about this game was that I didn't once upgrade my nano-suit. I spent a little time replaying the game and upgraded everything...but it still didn't grab me that much. Cf. a game like Bioshock, where the upgrades are pretty much the fun of the game!
There's also a whole sway of trophies you can get for online play...which I don't play...which makes getting the Platinum even more undesirable to obtain than it was before.

Third person, RPG sci-fi shooter.
Elements of this game remind me of the bosses in the Metal Gear Solid universe and other games brought to mind include Mass Effect and Uncharted. Not having played Gears Of War, I can't say if that is the game that it is most similar to.
Played on the standard difficulty level, this game is superior to the Uncharted series in terms of that style of game, including narrative elements...it's just better at integrating these two aspects than any of the first three Uncharted games.
Played on the hardest difficulty level, I had to abandon my game when I got to that section where you have to shoot monkeys off your comrade to save him. On Normal difficulty, this game is very grindy at times, but on Hard, it's nigh on unplayable...but I'm not a 'leet playah. - DirectorMario GalardoStarsMichael IronsideClaudia BessoDon JordanProving you can't keep a good agent down, Sam Fisher returns for this third undercover outing, which takes him deep inside North Korea on an information warfare mission.72.5%
