- DirectorTony KayeStarsEdward NortonEdward FurlongBeverly D'AngeloLiving a life marked by violence, neo-Nazi Derek finally goes to prison after killing two black youths. Upon his release, Derek vows to change; he hopes to prevent his brother, Danny, who idolizes Derek, from following in his footsteps.First Prison Movie that really got my attention and the whole cast and crew also, especially Norton, in my opinion his best part ever on a film. Prison here is told throught a story of changing your ideals, your charchter, to change perception and see from a bigger point of view 'cause you have a lot of time to think about the crime you did, also the humanity that present that every human under chains is slave in his own nature, human nature. This film brought a cult follow to the 'cause of fighting, racism, nazism... that's going on since WW2, and it kinda moved a struggle that people can still liberate individualy and not being hold blindfolded by some ideology! ''Life is too short to be pissed off all the time.'' such an important quote and movie!
- DirectorStole PopovStarsMeto JovanovskiLjiljana MedjesiStojan 'Stole' ArandjelovicAfter a quarrel with his wife, a man leaves their apartment with one suitcase only. Having slept in a train station, the police legitimates him and found him suspicious. Soon he'll find himself locked in a prison with several other, mostly innocent people. The true horror begins only then. Now i want to show a movie that has no wider audience than the Balkans, but here is a Cult movie that has every reply memorized and used in everyday talking language, and situations, especially in the country of origins Macedonia. This has also brilliant cast, and a story that for me is untouchable in Macedonain Cinematography, it's about a systematic error in a country (Yugoslavia) falling appart that had all ruling stuctures changing at the time, so u can be picked up on the street and carried to prison under unclear conditions, and no case at all, it's just painfull to even imagine it, that were scary years, and u had to watch your back, and what are you saying, also where. 'Cause you might end up as the main charachter here Ilko who in prison almost loses his mind, as he's getting used to the harsh prison envoirment with a lot of weird fellows. Later on in there he will get a tattoo of Jesus Christ on his chest, and found a new faith, there's where the title is from. Anyway this holds so high in my archive so it's definatly a mandatory!
- DirectorFrank DarabontStarsTim RobbinsMorgan FreemanBob GuntonOver the course of several years, two convicts form a friendship, seeking consolation and, eventually, redemption through basic compassion.Maybe the highest rated prison movie ever... a movie that represents a term that's a bit overused called 'Freedom'. The thing that we sure need in every moment, when someone is takin' it away we always feel it, but here is so direct and sensetive, so we can sense so much empathy for the unlucky bankar, who lost his wife and freedom in so short period. The whole cast, i won't comment, everyone did a marvelous job. And there's happy ending for a reason a think, 'cause hope is never a thing to give up, if u give up hope, u will get Institutionalized, and quickly when out of prison u have nothing to live for, it definitly gets deep into the prisoners mind, so it will stay as one of the films i always love to watch now and than, definitly a classic.
- DirectorJordan Walker-PearlmanStarsObba BabatundéRae Dawn ChongCharmin Lee WhiteA young man dying in prison brings his family together for a fateful visit, and proceeds to put his life back together.Easily Hill Harper's best role. African-American movie that really touched me from the bottom of my soul. It's very artistic expression, and strong philosophical approach in the discussions when Visited in prison, brings really something to hold on and build on too. Also the sickness he has, and knowing that he will die there, plus his rejected parole on top of everything... just a set of tragic motions. Getting closer with your relatives in prison than outside has been important subject for every prisoner who has nothing but time to kill. Definetly one of my favourite prison movies ever.
- DirectorSteve BuscemiStarsWillem DafoeEdward FurlongDanny TrejoA young man goes to prison and a tough, older convict takes him under his wing as a mentor.Prison is no fairytale as we heard.. but this hard cast crew proves it to the core, as they're squishing together in a shithole with lousy or demented atmposphere. Young convicts are thrown right into the animals teeth, as the main Ron Decker who tries to resist it and help himself, but confused youths are pushed enough to get the hardest times. His luck changes when he meets Earl Copen and he's explaind about the jail condition or two... how to behave and mend into his surroundings. Earl make sure Ron's safe as he proves his loyalty and friendship. The best parts are the dopey scenes and whole lotta blues (Jake la Botz) with them, beside Rourke playing 'Jan the Actress' Rons cellmate whos role is right on the point. Rons perspective gets devastating after an incident/ and getting his sentence in court, but Earl doesn't let him down he's the inside guide for the joint knows it so well.. and in his words "Better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven.". Powerfull and realistic glimpse of the prison life. Nice work for Buscemi as director. Also Dafoes tough mentorship definitly delivers some of his best performance, and the duo with Furlong had much chemistry. 10/10 for me.
- DirectorVincent GalloStarsVincent GalloChristina RicciBen GazzaraAfter being released from prison, Billy is set to visit his parents with his wife, whom he does not actually have. This provokes Billy to act out, as he kidnaps a girl and forces her to act as his wife for the visit. This movie almost hasn't got prison scenes, but prison plays big part in the main charachters life. That's the start of the movie, as he is let out of prsion and wanders through his home town to found a place to take a piss, that sure can bring him to a lot of akward situations. The moment that prison is important thing that happend in Bobby Brown's life is that his life already was *beep* as hell, no one carred for him even younger, practicly he has grown up in prison, which make him a lot tougher, but it all breaks down when he gots out and nothing has changed, maybe it became worse. This movie for me has some vibe that life is a low and unexpacted form that we could lose, although here Bobby already lost it all, he only breathes for revenge, but funny how can love complete our destiny. So love people!
- DirectorAlan ParkerStarsBrad DavisIrene MiracleBo HopkinsBilly Hayes, an American college student, is caught smuggling drugs out of Turkey and thrown into prison.Performance for oscars the music, directing, producing, Acting! Midnight Express has filled out all the injustices in the world about illegal substances, it meant so much at the time i watched it... I was in likewise situation only in my home country, but to be prisoned abroad is equal to hell itself. The great speech scenes really makes you wonder how much can societies get corrupt as *beep* and how time passes by, everything loses a bit of it's sanity, so things aren't always as they seem in the first place. As for the tragic death of the main actor Brad Davis, he made a true remark in his carrier with this movie so he will be remmembered.

- DirectorRic Roman WaughStarsNikolaj Coster-WaldauOmari HardwickLake BellA newly released prisoner is forced by the leaders of his gang to orchestrate a major crime with a brutal rival gang on the streets of Southern California. One of the newest I liked, really eclectic hardcore story. Just a reminder how one clumsy move can cost a friend's life and lifetime without parole for you. A very real view on life in prison, especially the maximum security one, where you can't go untouched or unnoticed. It's highly intellegently done, pushing the borders of human psychology and nature, also it defines how far a man is ready to go in order to protect the closest loved ones. Great score overall.
