Nazi Occult
Film or TV containing an occult detective[1], usually involving someone in law enforcement or an academic or a journalist who either investigates a mundane event that leads them into dark and strange depths or they are already interested in the topic and specifically seek it out.
Intriguingly, while this cross-genre is a popular source for film and especially TV, most of the original characters that inspired them haven't themselves been adapted, like Carnacki[2] (Martin Hesselius or John Silence or Flaxman Low or Jules de Grandin or John Thunstone or Simon Iff or pretty much everyone except Van Helsing). It seems that with the success of Sherlock and Steampunk or Victorian/Edwardian fiction being popular now might be the time - someone should phone Mark Gatiss.
See also: I have an archaeological adventurer list, which has some crossover with this list, as well as being another well-known archetype. I also started the keyword occult detective on here and added most of the titles to it.

- DirectorGuillermo del ToroStarsRon PerlmanDoug JonesSelma BlairA demon raised from infancy after being conjured by and rescued from the Nazis, grows up to become a defender against the forces of darkness.Hellboy's origin story is full-blown, foot to the floor, rocket-fueled Nazi occultism, throwing in Rasputin for good measure. A great film, well worth watching even if those scenes weren't in it.
- DirectorPaul CampionStarsCraig HallMatthew SunderlandGina VarelaSet in the Channel Islands on the eve of D Day, two Kiwi commandos, sent to destroy German gun emplacements to distract Hitler's forces away from Normandy, discover a Nazi occult plot to unleash demonic forces to win the war.A clear an unequivocal film purely focused on the Third Reich's interest in evil, name-checking everything from the Spear of Destiny to Lovecraftian Old Ones on the way. A solid enough film that works nicely with the small cast and limited number of locations, well worth watching if you are interested in the topic.

The Nazi's also used occult mind control techniques to brainwash Germans to perceive themselves as the master-race.
- DirectorTudor ApplenStarsJ.V. MartinPeter LevendaAdolf HitlerThe world knows how the Third Reich ended. Few know how it began. Mystics now forgotten by history conjured visions of a master race and foresaw peril from lesser races. Occult fanatics who rewrote history, and invented science. When Hitler seized power, the occult followed - right into his inner circle.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHarrison FordKaren AllenPaul FreemanIn 1936, archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis can obtain its awesome powers. When you think about Nazi occultists in films, then the mind quickly turns to RotLA.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHarrison FordSean ConneryAlison DoodyIn 1938, after his father goes missing while pursuing the Holy Grail, Indiana Jones finds himself up against the Nazis again to stop them from obtaining its powers.Yes those occult-loving Nazis didn't learn their face-melting lesson from the first film so, after a little break for the second film (is it a coincidence that the best two Indy films contain Nazi occultists? It is not) they return again in full force but will need buckets to return their remains to their relatives.
- DirectorPaul HunterStarsChow Yun-FatSeann William ScottJaime KingBased on the very underground comic book of the same name, a Tibetan monk becomes a mentor to a young street punk and tries teaching him how to protect the scroll of ultimate power from a secret Nazi organization bent on world domination.Chow Yun-fat plays a monk granted the secret to longevity in 1943, with the Nazis on his tail. The still youthful monk, now in the modern day, is being pursued by criminals after the scroll, criminals who turn out to be the original Nazis who still hope to use the secret to rule the world (Nazis are always persistent if slightly lacking in competence).

Its main cast are a group of Soviet teenagers with extraordinary abilities; the teenagers have been drafted to form a special unit to fight the invading German army. They are opposed by a Schutzstaffel (SS) officer who is attempting to raise from the dead a supernatural army of crusaders from the 12th-century Order of the Sacred Cross and enlist them in the Nazi cause.
- DirectorAnders BankeStarsPetra NielsenCarl-Åke ErikssonGrete HavnesköldVampires terrorize a city in Norrbotten. No good will ever come from an aging Nazi trying to create the Master Race from vampire blood.
Decent enough vampire film with a 30 Days of Night meets Dead Snow* feel, although the comedy aspect rarely shines through. There were a lot of good ideas in there (talking dogs, possibly the first vampire stakin with a gnome) and nicely done effects but the story was poorly paced and the plotting uneven, with a "was that it?" ending. So, not a must-see (other than completists and those reading this list looking for ) but then again I didn't think I'd wasted my time. Watch it with the original Let The Right One In as a blood-drenched snowy double feature (although perhaps watch this one first so you end on the better film).
* Yes I know it is Norwegian and Frostbite is Swedish but it also has undead Nazis and a similar mix of gore and humour (and snow). - DirectorSeiji MizushimaStarsVic MignognaAaron DismukeJason LiebrechtEdward Elric, an alchemist from an alternate world, races to prevent the Thule Society from harnessing alchemy to wage war on his home.Another film with Hanussen in it.

Seems to be directly inspired by Die Glocke. - DirectorStephen CornwellStarsBrad JohnsonMarjean HoldenGerrit GrahamIn the sci-fi thriller The Philadelphia Experiment the sole survivor of a wartime experiment is catapulted 41 years into the future and must race to save the world as we know it. It's now 10 years later--1993.Time/dimensional jiggery and pokery leaves the main protagonist in a world where the Nazis won the war.

- DirectorDavid BradleyStarsWalter StockerAudrey CaireCarlos RivasNazi madmen preserve Hitler's brain on a small tropical island until the time is right to resurrect him and, along with him, the Third Reich.
- DirectorUwe BollStarsNatassia MaltheBrendan FletcherMichael ParéRayne joins a resistence group to fight against the Nazis during World War II.It's a Uwe Boll film so you know what to expect - someone metaphorically kicking you in the nits while (possibly literally) laughing at you for watching their stupid film adaptation of a video game. The upside, and there is only one, is that it isn't as bad as Bloodrayne 2* but then quite a few Syfy original movies are better than that, so the bar was set pretty low.
In this film the dhampir vampire hunter accidentally creates an SS dhampir (oops - you'd think she'd have learned by now, especially as it is apparently so easy). This seemed oddly unnecessary, as they have their own vampires. Imprisoning him and on Rayne's tail is a German officer who slaps like an old lady and has some very un-Nazi qualms about research on vampires. It is stupid and full of plotholes, but you'd expect that from Boll, his impressive achievement is to make a film packed with all these potentially interesting ingredients so very dull (the secret is a pisspoor script and lumpen direction).
* The camerawork is only annoying (as opposed to being so shaky it looked like the cameraman had Parkinsons), her swords don't look like tinfoil-covered cardboard and there is not only some nudity but also a gratuitous sex scenes (it is a bit like he is drawing plot elements out of a hat, not just for this but the entire film - I assume it had to include a lot of random elements to sneak the runtime over an hour).
