32 Unreleased on DVD “Pretty Girl” Shows/Movies that would rock my world on disc!

by RavenGlamDVDCollector | created - 02 Nov 2014 | updated - 26 Nov 2016 | Public

As RavenGlamDVDCollector, I have a list of Hard-to-Find titles, mostly because they haven't been released, and in some of these cases, e.g. CLUELESS TV series, that's because they're disappointments to some. My list concerns shows with pretty actresses, and if that's shallow, well, Col. Needham started IMDb with “Those Eyes”. The following are shows, whether they be theatrical releases, TV movies, straight -to-video attempts, TV shows of varying degrees of success; they're an eclectic bunch, and their unavailability has driven me nuts after more than seven years of searching, searching, advocating, pleading...

My Hard-to-Find quests extend to singers as well. Music videos unfortunately get overlooked on IMDb. They are movies in their own right, like Meat Loaf I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE, Paula Abdul OPPOSITES ATTRACT, Bananarama I HEARD A RUMOR, t.A.T.u ALL ABOUT US and Mandy Smith POSITIVE REACTION - yeah, I had to add Mandy, for there's no option for her on the whole of the mighty IMDb. Please, Amazon, let IMDb feature music videos as well.

I am not committing myself to a limit on this list. There are lots of goodies that were never released, and my battle continues. I myself have done my bit to actually succeed in getting two Mandy Smith music videos released locally by pleading her case (it helped that they were already interested in her), and doing some research to provide them with necessary outstanding information, but without e-mail addresses for these listed items, I am unable to pester the powers-that-be... Care to help out?

Note: Am currently having trouble with reordering the list - should be Unhappily Ever After, Models Inc., the Playboy Video Centerfold, Fall from Grace, The Boss' Wife, Silk 2, Blood Games, V.I.P. #2 - #4, Savannah, Clueless TV Series, Desideria and the Dragon Ring, The Secret Circle, Stripper, Without Consent, Angel Falls, Total Exposure, She Spies, Rescue Me, Nightingales, Just the Ten of Us, A Girl to Kill For, A Vow to Kill, T.j. Hooker, P.S.I. Luv U, Fly by Night, Call Me, Time of Your Life, The Ravine, American Heiress, Torn Allegiance, Private Benjamin, or something along those lines, but I am doing this not with a computer, just a touch-screen BlackBerry Curve Model 9380, so bear with me!

{Formerly very sketchy original list currrently being revamped, so check in regularly to see updates! 24 Jan. 2015}

1. V.I.P. (1998–2002)

60 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

Vallery, a hot-dog stand employee, accidentally saves a movie star from a fan. Mistaken for a highly skilled bodyguard, she is approached to serve as the now-famous face of an elite bodyguard agency, renamed Vallery Irons Protection.

Stars: Pamela Anderson, Molly Culver, Shaun Baker, Natalie Raitano

Votes: 4,930

Sure beats working at a hot dog stand, yes. Valerie Irons sort of almost accidentally saves a celebrity and becomes a reluctant heroine bodyguard-to-the-stars, heading up Valerie Irons Protection, where she is told she'd be just a figurehead, she'd never be in any real danger (cute nose wrinkle here)... Pamela Anderson is, of course, cute, and bubbly enough to carry off the part. She also has the best legs on the planet. Molly Culver as Tasha Dexter is a personal favorite. Wow! There is a problem though. The scripts are uneven. Some show spark, and you think 'This show sure rocks', but next episode is inane by comparison and you wonder what the fuss was about. It's not for a lack of talented directors. Some of the top TV director names come up on the credits. But V.I.P.remains inconsistent. Then, next episode,.something really cute happens again, and you see the magic... Final consensus after my Season 1 on DVD, and some more seen back in the day on pox-ridden South African SABC2: Could have been great. All the elements were there. Some real spark was missing. Could have been fixed. Needed stronger scripts, perhaps the kind with ongoing story arcs, something really intriguing, less cardboard cut-out villains, you catch my drift? Petty criticism aside, I go for it!

Seasons 2, 3 and 4. Apparently they actually and for real think that the target demographic of this show are rowdy drunks. Problem here is that Season 1 did not sell as well as they expected the DVDs to fly off the shelves. Perhaps with better marketing? Pamela Anderson was the world's Number One TV star during her halcyon BAYWATCH years - this follows hot on those heels. It is great! Here and there it is corny and over the top, but it is great! And Molly Culver is great as well! I should get Tasha to take care of you louts who dumped this show! Oh shucks people, Pam's Americana, where's your national pride? (And I live in South Africa!)

2. Stripper (1985)

R | 90 min | Documentary

The background: A strippers' convention and a major contest. The movie focuses on a few strippers, each with her own strong motive to win.

Director: Jerome Gary | Stars: Janette Boyd, Sara Costa, Kimberly Holcomb, Loree Menton

Votes: 464 | Gross: $0.09M

A documentary, not a movie, really heartbreaking, about a stripper convention in Las Vegas. Cheer for the competitors, cry with them when their dreams are shattered. I guess there's very little chance that something from so long ago that is now so outdated fashion-wise will ever see the light of day on DVD, but this was good! She's got style, she's got grace, she's got long, long legs, she's got savoir faire!

3. Clueless (1996–1999)

TV-G | 30 min | Comedy

A follow-up to the blockbuster movie of the same name, following the rich teenager Cher and her friends as they attend high school in Beverly Hills.

Stars: Rachel Blanchard, Stacey Dash, David Lascher, Donald Faison

Votes: 3,509

Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, so it's not Alicia Silverstone. I hear you. But even without her, this is still miles and miles better than SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH which got a full all seven seasons release. And even without Alicia Silverstone, this is still miles and miles better than the average schlock of today. It remains cute. Mega-cute. A Polaroid of IMperfection? Sure, there'd be complaints even from me were I to get to watch it on my big screen. But it sure would be great to revisit. I have downloaded lots of it, mostly parts of episodes that have to be watched in parts, but it seems like such a waste to watch this on (shudder!) a cellphone!

4. Angel Falls (1993)

60 min | Drama

Only six episodes. But it stuck with me. Years later, still looking for it. Fans of Cassidy Rae unite! Aw hot damn...!

5. The Boss' Wife (1986)

R | 83 min | Comedy

Joel Keefer is a stockbroker trying to climb the corporate ladder. There's only one thing stopping him - his boss' beautiful and flirtatious wife.

Director: Ziggy Steinberg | Stars: Daniel Stern, Arielle Dombasle, Fisher Stevens, Melanie Mayron

Votes: 693

A great comedy fondly remembered by its fans. There are people out there who wait for it with their DVRs ready, but it just doesn't even show anymore. This one had me rolling with laughter in the old days,.and the world needs this. No luck. Why THE BOSS' WIFE? Why are their endless rows of inane movies at the stores attempting to be hilarious but just not worth it, and something really funny gets overlooked simply because it's not exactly a star-laden cast?

Movie appears on my list “40 Favorite Glam Movies of RavenGlamDVDCollector” where it is extensively discussed. See you there!

6. Silk 2 (1989)

Exciting movie featuring Monique Gabrielle. I never saw the original, I just know I want this one. Monique was something else! Lots of nudity, swaying breasts in action scene even, and an unforgettable abduction scene! Would sell! I know that, fellow dirty old men like me know that, Monique knows that, but all they're gonna release is the next Spiderman, Iron Man, whatever...

7. Unhappily Ever After (1995–1999)

TV-PG | 30 min | Comedy

A not-so-happy family is divided further when the father gets a schizophrenic disorder.

Stars: Geoff Pierson, Kevin Connolly, Nikki Cox, Justin Berfield

Votes: 3,238

The most wanted item on my list. There are five seasons, 100 episodes, with sexy little Nikki Cox and that irrepressible Mr. Floppy, who is my hero! Much loved TV show, and just because it did not do well on the ratings when it came to reruns, it is apparently no longer good enough... Bah! You know what I think of the ratings? Less than nothing! It remains guess-work!

8. The Dragon Ring (1994– )

Desideria is the eldest daughter of the Dragon King and Queen and heir to the throne and the Dragon Ring. If she marries a prince that is. When she finds her prince however it turns out to ... See full summary »

Stars: Anna Falchi, Franco Nero, Sophie von Kessel, Joel Beeson

English is the most beautiful language in all the world. I've got the German dubbed version. Ich weiss nicht! English please!

The magical adventures of Princess Desideria, an Italian movie, DESIDERIA E L'ANELLO DEL DRAGO, literally 'Desideria and the Dragon Ring' follows her through three stages; as a winsome toddler preoccupied with her talking dolls, as a young girl always being done in by her foundling sister Selvaggia, and as the emergent young nymph finding romance with Rebel Prince Viktor. It is a fairy-tale shot with certain limitations (the magical creatures are puppets, and they're not exactly smooth and seamless by Hollywood standards; the dragon, for instance, is done with a lot of heart, but is clearly an unconvincing contraption). The beauty of actress Anna Falchi more than makes up for any technical inadequacies. Recommended for nice audiences. A young girl could watch this with her granny. It is wholesome family entertainment. Beautifully done.

9. Rescue Me (1992)

After all these years, the trailer I downloaded still looks like it would thrill the masses nowadays. Fast-paced action a-plenty. Sadly, nothing else available on the Net.

10. Just the Ten of Us (1987–1990)

TV-G | 30 min | Comedy, Family

Gym teacher Graham Lubbock and his wife Elizabeth live in Eureka, California with their eight children.

Stars: Bill Kirchenbauer, Deborah Harmon, Heather Langenkamp, Jamie Luner

Votes: 1,961

Really just here because I later on became mesmerized and totally enthralled by Jamie Luner. I used to cringe at the coach dancing around like a demented frog in his pajamas :) but now I'd love to see it again. Only found one episode on the Net.

11. Savannah (1996–1997)

60 min | Drama

Follows the lives of three best friends: Reese, Peyton and Lane. The three women grew up together in Savannah, Georgia.

Stars: Robyn Lively, Jamie Luner, Shannon Sturges, David Gail

Votes: 907

Love, romance, greed and deceit set in the South, with arguably the most gorgeous con girl heroine, the forerunner to POISON IVY, Peyton Richards, who discovers that she is the daughter of the man her mother works for as a housekeeper. Yes, it could have been her driving around in the fancy sportscar and wearing Parisian fashions... From the stables of Aaron Spelling came SAVANNAH, and it led to the WB's glorious 'Savannah Sundays', this quickly being labeled 'the most talked-about show on TV' back in 1996.

DVD-Rare is a great and trustworthy company. Feel free to buy from them. They may be in violation of copyright rules, but then, the law truly is an ass! SAVANNAH is a great TV show, but got overlooked in sharing shelve space with contemporaries MELROSE PLACE and BEVERLY HILLS 90210. An illicit copy doesn't have the same look as an actual store-bought item though, it's not as bright. Looks like a copy of a VHS. But if you're a SAVANNAH/Jamie Luner/Shannon Sturges fan, what else is there to do? A+ to DVD-Rare, 7/10 to product quality*, and a big fat naught to the distributors who decided not to. It would have sold. It's much better than BEVERLY HILLS 90210, think MELROSE PLACE set in the easy-going South, and that's it. A proper DVD release would look so nice! *unfortunately the sound is out of sync for long stretches on two episodes, Season 1 ep. 08 “Playing with the Enemy” and ep. 09 “Prince of Lies”. Season 2 ep. 02 “Pearls Before the Swine" was originally recorded on an inferior VHS tape resulting in bothersome little disturbances speckling its entire length. Will report further annoyances as they are encountered, watching next episode on Friday, 13th (sounds ominous), 6 Feb. 2015, 9:20:53 PM... Yes, it was disastrous! Popular episode with Jamie Luner really getting her teeth into the part was doomed on my disc that froze at 32:12 no budging beyond that point, had to download from VuClip to miserably watch further on, 13 Feb. 2015, 6:53:29 PM...

Wouldn't it have been so much better if this very likable show had a proper release, like it's cousin MELROSE PLACE? In the absence of this, I am at least thankful to DVD-Rare for rectifying (however haphazardly) the sad neglect inflicted upon this jewel.

12. Total Exposure (1991)

R | Action, Drama

Director: John Quinn | Stars: Michael Nouri, Season Hubley, Jeff Conaway, Christian Bocher

Votes: 101

Described as an exploitation movie that turned out surprisingly well, and that's true. Concerns a photographer, Season Hubley, who's model, Playboy Playmate Deborah Driggs, got involved with drug smuggling. Seizing the vile stuff, she flushed it down the loo, but the crooks don't believe anybody could be as crazy as that, and want it back. Great thrills! The search for it is going not so surprisingly, well, onto the rocks... Absolutely nothing, not even a clip, on the Net.

13. Blood Games (1990)

R | 90 min | Action, Horror, Thriller

When an all girl baseball team beats a group of rowdy rednecks from a small town, they soon find themselves the prey in a deadly bounty hunt. Now they are playing for their lives. In HD.

Director: Tanya Rosenberg | Stars: Gregory Scott Cummins, Laura Albert, Lee Benton, Ken Carpenter

Votes: 1,482

One of the few nasties I am interested in. There are scenes in this one that is anathema to RavenGlamDVDCollector, I don't wanna see my heroines bleed to death... But Laura Albert is worth the bother! Babe and the Ball Girls are just passing through Hicksville, USA, when their bus breaks down. Pretty soon they irate the locals, especially when beating them at their much-revered Holy Activity, The Great God Baseball. The fur is gonna fly... DELIVERANCE with girls... Like that porn movie ARROWHEAD.

Taunted as “Baseball Bimbo's in Hillbilly Hell” and seen as a symbol of bad taste, but nevertheless a favorite of schlock film fanatics. For the most part, this movie is a negative experience, I remember making some disparaging comments about it myself, but I saw the value in Laura Albert. Kindly note that distance lends enchantment to the view, and my obsession with finding this flick on DVD, a hopeless quest, influences me considerably.

Perhaps the best TV movie ever made? With Princess of BEVERLY HILLS 90210 Jennie Garth running through the corridors of a corrupt mental institution? Okay, so it's just a personal favorite, but it is highly watchable. Downloaded and converted to disc, but that is so grotty! I want this on DVD!

15. Nightingales (1989)

60 min | Drama

A group of student nurses in California live together off-campus under the supervision of a housemother.

Stars: Suzanne Pleshette, Chelsea Field, Kristy Swanson, Susan Walters

Votes: 87

Perhaps the most hated TV show of all time? It sure had powerful enemies! Wish they'd kill of those arrogant rap music videos as effectively as they did this one. Apparently nurses nationwide felt insulted to be portrayed as sex objects? Hello? Who's gonna sign a DVD release order for a TV series that got cancelled in a flash? :(

16. Private Benjamin (1981–1983)

30 min | Comedy

The misadventures of a spoiled young woman who joins the army and her friends.

Stars: Lorna Patterson, Hal Williams, Eileen Brennan, Lisa Raggio

Votes: 372

I think very few people even remember this. And just the intro and two clips on the Net. I'm not talking about Goldie Hawn, people, Lorna Patterson. My chances are less than that of a snowball in summer.

17. Call Me (1988)

R | 96 min | Drama, Thriller

A journalist agrees to meet an obscene caller at a bar, and ends up witnessing a murder.

Director: Sollace Mitchell | Stars: Patricia Charbonneau, Stephen McHattie, Boyd Gaines, Sam Freed

Votes: 1,031 | Gross: $0.25M

Was quite notorious back in the day, but surprisingly doesn't garner enough interest for a DVD release?

18. Models Inc. (1994–1995)

60 min | Drama

Hilary Michaels, the estranged mother of Amanda Woodward, is the owner, president and CEO of Models Inc, a major Los Angeles modeling agency.

Stars: Linda Gray, Cameron Daddo, David Goldsmith, Teresa Hill

Votes: 1,276

The queen of my quest! Oh, there are scores of detractors who hate it. They wanted better acting. Oh go watch some Merchant Ivory drama!

I've downloaded a considerable lot of the episodes, but some are just not available to me. I did notice they're all there on YouTube, but I am currently not equipped for YouTube.

19. P.S.I. Luv U (1991–1992)

60 min | Drama

Wanda Talbert is a New York con artist. She is sent to Palm Spring as a protected witness in a case. She pretends to be married to a NY police officer, which won't be easy since they don't like each other.

Stars: Connie Sellecca, Greg Evigan, Earl Holliman, Jayne Frazer

Votes: 237

Con artist played by Connie Sellecca; this show had possibilities and shouldn't have been cancelled. Rumors abound that Connie was too much like her character, and she got her career zapped... Promo, intro and clips downloaded, no sign of any complete episodes, a short-lived TV series from way back, no chance, what a shame!

20. She Spies (2002–2004)

Not Rated | 60 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

Special note here: This is, after all, one of the world's most favorite people. Jennifer Love Hewitt cannot be so snubbed! I've downloaded some of this, but I want it on DVD! Even if it's not PARTY OF FIVE, it is the Princess of Hearts!

22. A Vow to Kill (1995 TV Movie)

I'm a 90210 fan. AnnaLynne McCord is both the Ohs in 90210. Research on the Net revealed AMERICAN HEIRESS, and I'd like to see it. Downloaded clips, Wikipedia stated emphatically that there is no DVD release planned for the future.

25. The Ravine (1969)

97 min | Drama, Romance, War

In 1943 Yugoslavia, a German sniper captures a famed partisan markswoman, but when they are abandoned by their allies, they are forced to shelter from the harsh winter together.

Director: Paolo Cavara | Stars: David McCallum, Nicoletta Machiavelli, Lars Bloch, Giorgio Dolfin

Votes: 107

This Italian movie has an English version, THE RAVINE. I have the original Italian and since it's not exactly dialogue-heavy and with a straightforward setup, I can manage, but I did recently download the English version, so the real thing is out there, and this is so, so beautiful, however weak and lame and really stupid the ending turned out...

26. The Secret Circle (2011–2012)

TV-14 | 45 min | Drama, Fantasy, Horror

16 year old Cassie Blake moves to Chance Harbor, Washington to live with her grandmother after her mother mysteriously dies. She discovers she's a witch along with 5 other teens.

Stars: Britt Robertson, Thomas Dekker, Phoebe Tonkin, Shelley Hennig

Votes: 48,811

Actually, this is perhaps the most successful one on my list. It has legions of fans clamoring for its release on DVD. They also wanted a Second Season, but okay, time has marched on. The CW really dropped the ball here. Big mistake. Huge. Really huge. And no DVD release? I found a pirate copy, and hell, if that's illegal, tell me if the injustice done against this gloriously well-cast show isn't a crime of monumental proportions... For shame, all you nerdy executives out of touch with reality!

From an entirely different section of Hollywood, nothing less than the Playboy Empire itself. Yes, I am a South African, and way back then, they shot you if they found this in your possession, and dragged your children off to slave markets. Yeah, grand old police state. So I saw just this one. But this is like the best eye candy in the world! And accompanied by the girls performing in their own music videos! Barefoot dancing in front of the house, she's got no worries stopping her now, shake it inside out, shake it inside out! Oh baby!

28. T.J. Hooker (1982–1986)

TV-PG | 60 min | Action, Crime, Drama

Director: Alan Nathanson | Stars: Shelagh Holliday, Jonathon Morris, Marius Weyers, Ron Smerczak

Votes: 38

Australian-made, but filmed in South Africa. No matter what the Net says, it was done during about 1984, it was big news in the press what with a local girl doing a nude scene in prudish South Africa where girls weren't allowed to show their ankles for fear of God's Wrath from the Heavens, I'm exaggerating, but not too much... Concerns rape by marauding British troops during Anglo-Boer War. Trailer on the Net. Movie on VHS at Amazon, some time ago a DVD, next day offer disappeared.

Really great TV-movie, with surprisingly unsettling nude interrogation scene featuring Tara Fitzgerald. There is zero, zilch, nada, zip of this on the Net, and you know what? It is the Net's loss...

Update: On 6 November 2016, I got a surprise message from user ralphus44 regarding FALL FROM GRACE. Turns out somebody was disappointed by my review's misleading info re the on-screen nudity, but at least I got some attention, and ralphus44 requested my e-mail address and sent me some pics, and would you bloody believe it, offered FREE OF CHARGE to send me a disk. Yeah, sure. I calculated. A, he actually has to do it. B, the long journey past corrupt greedy post office hands. C, the disk gotta work. Well, scant couple of days later, got an e-mail, he mailed. Yeah, right, buddy, I'm not getting my hopes up, but thanx! I didn't post anything here, I felt too trepidated. Best not to think about this. But checked that mailbox daily after a week or so had gone past. Time began marching on. Yesterday it came. Well, golly gee, A + B still leaves C, and I totally expected the anti-climax of failure. But, no, yay it worked!

Not the whole thing. Only bits. The movie is known for smoking, some material for smoking fetishists. And the horrendous bits. Which kicks off with her being brought to ornate Nazi office, and Michael York's ominous portrayal. She eventually sits there naked, but unlike my memories, no explicit or even fairly explicit nudity is shown, only bare shoulders, and bare manacled arms, and bare legs and bare bound feet. Her facial expression is really what it is all about, she conveys terror and abject despair.

The problem is that the interrogation progresses into severe torture, off-screen, but heinous, and she is reduced to a bloody pulp. Understandably, I am sickened by this, not sickened-offended-by-story, but the whole thing has lost most of its appeal to me.

Which is a relief. It will never be released on DVD. I think some of those brutal effects add to why it will not be released. Perhaps not. What about those torture movies that are all the rage? But my interest was chiefly for the chair bondage scene. And I now have a DVD-R unofficial version, en my tokkelos raak erg gespanne, kaal en vasgebind sit sy daar... I'm into bondage, shoot me! She looks so tiny and vulnerable. But no bare breasts. I still cannot believe it. I will have to add an addendum to my review. Soon.

This list is currently just in haphazard order. Had it been in buzz order, it would have been second-from-the-top, second only to that Playboy Deborah Driggs & Karen Foster item. But now, after today, it would have dropped severely.

And I am relieved. Bummed, but relieved. For this was (still is) a chase after something that is also patently offensive. In a very bad way. I do not want to see the leading lady bruised, beaten black and blue. It's really only about the early bits of the interrogation. I am all a Damsel-in-Distress fanatic. Evil ol' me, huh? But my damsel must get rescued!!!!!!!!!! And there lies the rub...

Addendum was posted 25 November 2016. Henceforth 24 - 25 November will be commemorated as FALL FROM GRACE weekend. Thank you, ralphus44, thank you, IMDb, and **** you, to the execs who won't ever release it, I can now finally be more accepting.

It's a good story. Well-filmed. Tara and Michael are both excellent. The Nazi HQ is extremely foreboding. I'd still buy it in a heartbeat to see the whole thing, but there is all too soon No Real Reason For RavenGlamDVDCollector To Watch.

Actually, I feel ripped off. My mind-version of the naked scene (while the flesh is still creamy) was better.

A confession: I never actually watched it, not for real anyway. Monitored TV with VCR waiting for something interesting to happen, Premium Time on pay channel M-Net kicked in afterwards. Noticed however that this is better, way better than the scores of drivel floating about. Years later, remembered that little tennis star, but for the life of me, not the name of the show. Recently delved through old TV Guides, and voila! Not that the name even rung a bell, but checking it's subject, noticed theme of mother and aspiring tennis star. This too is alas! quite unavailable, only a new movie by that name. This entry is like a belated apology to ol' PHENOM, a cute show with a title that just wasn't catchy! But I suppose it's R.I.P. to this little long-ago capsized yacht. Nothing to download even. Only vague memories. Bummer.
