- DirectorFederico FelliniStarsGiulietta MasinaSandra MiloMario PisuVisions, memories, and mysticism all help a 40-something woman to find the strength to leave her cheating husband. An amazing film all its own by the Italian master Fellini. 10/10
- DirectorJean-Luc GodardStarsEddie ConstantineAnna KarinaAkim TamiroffA U.S. secret agent is sent to the distant space city of Alphaville where he must find a missing person and free the city from its tyrannical ruler. One of the very best sci-fi films of the 1960's, and really, one the best sci-fi films ever in my estimation. 9/10
- DirectorRoman PolanskiStarsCatherine DeneuveIan HendryJohn FraserA sex-repulsed woman who disapproves of her sister's boyfriend sinks into depression and has horrific visions of rape and violence. This was Polanski's first all English speaking effort. It's a menacing, and hauntingly authentic feeling film. In terms of psychological horror films, this is one of the greatest ever made. Most horror films of this age have lost their disturbing aspect through the evolution of the public's conscience. The things that frighten the average viewer in 1965 are often no longer all that scary to most people, even young people fifty years later. However this film still packs a real psychological punch and that in itself says a lot about how great of a film this is. 8.5/10
- DirectorRobert WiseStarsJulie AndrewsChristopher PlummerEleanor ParkerA young novice is sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer.8.5/10
- DirectorLuis BuñuelStarsClaudio BrookSilvia PinalEnrique Álvarez FélixSimon, a deeply religious man living in the 4th century, wants to be nearer to God so he climbs a column. The Devil wants him to come down to Earth and is trying to seduce him.An amazing little film from the always pioneering director Luis Bunuel. 8/10
- DirectorRuss MeyerStarsHal HopperAntoinette CristianiJohn FurlongIt's 1933, in the midst of the Depression and Prohibition. Calif, a stranger with a past walks into Spooner, Missouri on his way from Michigan to California. He hires on with Lute Wade to earn some travelling money, but gets entangled in a bad family situation: Lute's daughter is married to Sidney, a good-for-nothing drunk that frequents the rural equivalent of a whorehouse and beats his wife and is just waiting for Lute to kick the bucket to get his money. When Sidney and a local wacko preacher begin orchestrating a smear campaign against Calif, he finds it difficult to conceal his past and his growing affection for Sidney's wife.Cult legend Russ Myer's best overall film in my view. 8/10
- DirectorSergio LeoneStarsClint EastwoodLee Van CleefGian Maria VolontèTwo bounty hunters with the same intentions team up to track down a gang of outlaws led by a psychotic Mexican bandit, who is plotting an audacious bank robbery.Definitely one of the best spaghetti westerns ever made. I just don't think it's quite as good as many others seem to. It's definitely a step or even two down from The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly in my view. 7.5/10
- DirectorSilvio NarizzanoStarsTallulah BankheadStefanie PowersPeter VaughanA young woman is terrorized by her deceased fiancé's demented mother who blames her for her son's death.Aka Die! Die! My Darling! This film is not without its share of flaws and not without its strong points either. Definitely a good thriller for its time. 7/10
- DirectorRuss MeyerStarsTura SatanaHajiLori WilliamsThree go-go dancers holding a young girl hostage come across a crippled old man living with his two sons in the desert. After learning he's hiding a sum of cash around, the women start scheming on him.Russ Meyer is mostly known for this film, and mainly because the female violence in this film was very unique for an American film at the time. In fact many claim that this was the first American film in which women were strong, and violent. Nonetheless, I feel that in this very same year, Russ Meyer made the best film of his entire career and it's not this one, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! To me, Mudhoney is actually the best film he ever made. In fact I feel this is one of the weakest films I've ever given a seven rating on IMDb. However I feel that certain aspects of the film justify the rating. 7/10
- DirectorElio PetriStarsMarcello MastroianniUrsula AndressElsa MartinelliIn a future where a human vs. human "Big Hunt" is used as an alternative to war, a veteran huntress' plan to kill a "victim" for a major TV sponsorship deal is compounded by romance.Strange, yet hard to turn off. 6.5/10
