Amelie manages to capture both the innocence and sensuality of new love in a way that manages to enhance an already spectacular film about a girl who sees the world differently.

RussellStarsBradley CooperJennifer LawrenceRobert De NiroAfter a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.9/10. Silver Linings Playbook is an understated romance that tells a story that is both raw and real; two mentally ill and unstable people bond through dancing in the city of Philadelphia.
- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsHugh GrantMartine McCutcheonLiam NeesonFollows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.10/10. While Love Actually may seem more simple than other movies on this list, its simplicity in telling the stories of different types of love, romantic and platonic, around Christmastime, is what makes it authentic and refreshing. Out of all romcoms, this is the one I revisit the most, even when it isn't Christmas.
- DirectorJoe WrightStarsKeira KnightleyJames McAvoyBrenda BlethynThirteen-year-old fledgling writer Briony Tallis irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit.10/10. Atonement is a story about the power of one misunderstanding. It is a story of jealousy, sisterhood, love, lies, and injustice. It is also the story that is often not told---many great love stories exist that cannot exist. The world is not always fair, but still we can love despite it.
- CreatorRonald D. MooreStarsCaitríona BalfeSam HeughanSophie SkeltonClaire Beauchamp Randall, a nurse in World War II, mysteriously goes back in time to Scotland in 1743. There, she meets a dashing Highland warrior and gets drawn into an epic rebellion.10/10. Outlander is like no other story that has ever been told, and spans across time and space.
- StarsRuth WilsonToby StephensLorraine AshbourneA young governess falls in love with her brooding and complex master. However, his dark past may destroy their relationship forever.9/10. Jane Eyre is a story that has been told before, but not so beautifully as this miniseries. Jane is an orphaned woman who has been mistreated her whole life and never been loved or learned to love herself; that is, until the brooding and blunt Mr. Rochester gives her a job as a governess to his daughter... a dark gothic love story unfolds in the wake of insanity and ruthlessness.
- StarsColin FirthJennifer EhleSusannah HarkerWhile the arrival of wealthy gentlemen sends her marriage-minded mother into a frenzy, willful and opinionated Elizabeth Bennet matches wits with haughty Mr. Darcy.9/10. The Pride and Prejudice miniseries from 1995 is without a doubt the truest to the book it was based on; Colin Firth's acting role as Darcy is perfection, and this rendition perfectly captures the issues, of both pride and prejudice, and how it can divide two people so easily, without leaving anything important out. This is as close to feminist storytelling as the Victorian era gets, with tangible chemistry between the two leads.
- StarsDaniela Denby-AsheRichard ArmitageTim Pigott-SmithNorth and South is a four-part adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's love story of Margaret Hale, a middle-class southerner who is forced to move to the northern town of Milton.9/10. - DirectorLone ScherfigStarsAnne HathawayJim SturgessPatricia ClarksonAfter spending the night together on the eve of their college graduation, Dexter and Emma are shown each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. - DirectorAndy TennantStarsDrew BarrymoreAnjelica HustonDougray ScottThe Brothers Grimm arrive at the home of a wealthy Grande Dame who speaks of the many legends surrounding the fable of the cinder girl before telling the "true" story of her ancestor.8/10. Out of all Cinderella stories, Ever After is by far the truest to life and complete story of this popular tale. What other rendition has Cinderella and Leonardo Da Vinci in one movie? Need I say more...
- DirectorMark PalanskyStarsChristina RicciJames McAvoyReese WitherspoonA modern romantic tale about a young aristocratic heiress born under a curse that can only be broken when she finds true love with "one who will accept her as one of their own."8/10. - DirectorGary WinickStarsJennifer GarnerMark RuffaloJudy GreerUnpopular schoolgirl Jenna Rink makes an unusual wish on her birthday. Miraculously, her wish comes true and the 13-year-old Jenna wakes up the next day as a 30-year-old woman.8/10.
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsCary ElwesMandy PatinkinRobin WrightA bedridden boy's grandfather reads him the story of a farmboy-turned-pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies and allies in his quest to be reunited with his true love.8/10. Although the Princess Bride might seem simple and childish, sometimes simplicity is all that is needed to tell a great love story. At times, it seems like a parody of every classic fairytale, and at others, it's a story of adventure, true undying love, and comedic genius.
- DirectorMichel GondryStarsJim CarreyKate WinsletTom WilkinsonWhen their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories forever.8/10.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppWinona RyderDianne WiestThe solitary life of an artificial man - who was incompletely constructed and has scissors for hands - is upended when he is taken in by a suburban family.8/10.

Things manage to become even more complicated when the boy and girl decide to meet in person.9/10. Your Name tells a beautiful story of destined love that exists across all boundaries and obstacles. While it is an anime, there is nothing that is not perfectly communicated and there is nothing that is juvenile about it. Your Name is not without many surprises, plot twists, and emotional moments along the way--to say anymore would be a spoiler.
