The Power of the Moving Image and the Benefits of Hindsight
"No other medium has the power to impact the individual like the moving image, and it cannot be overstated the importance of documenting history through film. This invaluable resource is not only important to historians and other academics, but is also of vital importance to society as a whole. Used in conjunction with verified documentation and established facts, documentaries can act as an invaluable tool not only in educating ourselves to the human experience and historical context of the time, but also in arming ourselves with the necessary knowledge and empathy in preventing past tragedies from repeating in the future."

The Mind of Adolf Hitler: The Secret Wartime Report by Psychoanalyst Walter C. Langer
Wikipedia: Walter Charles Langer.
Wikipedia: The Mind of Adolf Hitler - The report made several predictions about Hitler's future which proved to be accurate:
As the war turns against him, his emotions will intensify and will have outbursts more frequently. His public appearances will become much rarer, because he's unable to face a critical audience.
There might be an assassination attempt on him by the German aristocracy, the Wehrmacht Officers or the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, because of his superhuman self-confidence in his military judgment.
There will be no surrender, capitulation, or peace negotiations. The course he will follow will almost certainly be the road to ideological immortality, resulting in the greatest vengeance on a world he despises.
From what we know of his psychology, the most likely possibility is that he will commit suicide in the event of defeat. It's probably true he has an inordinate fear of death, but possibly being a psychopath he would undoubtedly "screw himself up" into the superman character and perform the deed.

- DirectorChris DurlacherStarsMitchell MullenMorphine. Crystal meth. Sedatives. Testosterone. Leeches. A German soldier's feces. A bizarre combination of substances, but just a few of the more than 70 different drugs, vitamins and concoctions Adolf Hitler was consuming during the last nine years of his reign. This hard-hitting and in-depth film, a co-production between Channel 4 TV and National Geographic US, sets out to examine the medications Hitler was on, how often and how much he took, and to explore if drugs played a role in his behavior and actions. During the Nazi era, Adolf Hitler was presented to the German people as a great man of destiny, a man possessed of superhuman vigor and strength who would lead Germany to world domination. The truth was very different. Based on a secret American intelligence dossier and the medical diaries and journals of Dr Theodor Morell, the Fuhrer's personal physician, this documentary sheds new light on Hitler's health and extraordinary medicinal regime during the Second World War. They reveal that, far from being a picture of robust health, Hitler was a nervy hypochondriac. They chart Hitler's descent into illness and drug dependency, his use of uppers and downers, quack cures, powerful stimulants and multiple injections for various real or imagined ailments.Health of Adolf Hitler

- StarsLee NevilleAlex DeeWesley LloydHow did Adolf Hitler and his small band of criminal conspirators persuade the German people to follow him into a nightmare of brutality, genocide, and military defeat? This 10-episode documentary chronicles how Hitler and his inner circle rose to power by exploiting the economic turmoil of their time. The National Socialists created an illusion of justice and legality, but behind the scenes they subverted democracy and planned a monstrous secret conspiracy. Their gangster regime not only used violence and suppression but also groomed the German people into willing complicity in history's worst crimes. Through archival film footage, interviews, and dramatic reconstructions, this series tells the true story of the rise and fall of the Nazis, from Hitler's recuperation in a hospital bed at the end of World War I to his dramatic final days in a Berlin bunker.Making a Leader

A treasure of more than 100,000 such letters were recently found, hidden in a secret Russian archive. The uncensored letters reveal the true feelings of the German people - their hopes, longings and fears; also love letters, declarations of loyalty, birthday wishes and the occasional word of protest. Like a seismograph, it mirrors the change in mood in Nazi Germany, providing a reflection of the German spirit in the years from 1932 to 1945. A.K.A. - DirectorMichael KloftStarsIon AntonescuMartin BormannEva BraunMost of what we know about World War II comes from monochromatic images and pictures. But this documentary brings something different: it's a fascinating collage of colored images from that period, filmed in 8mm and 16mm. All the footage was gathered from private collectors, soldiers, tourists, state institutions, even footage shot by Hitler's private pilot and there's also images captured by Eva Braun, Hitler's companion. Most of the images were recently discovered, some of them hidden for more than 40 years and they were all remastered and put together by director Michael Kloft.
