William Shatner has notched up an impressive 70-plus years in front of the camera, displaying heady comedic talent and being instantly recognizable to several generations of cult television fans as the square-jawed Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise.
Shatner was born in Côte Saint-Luc, Montréal, Québec, Canada, to Anne (Garmaise) and Joseph Shatner, a clothing manufacturer. His father was a Jewish emigrant from Bukovina in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, while his maternal grandparents were Lithuanian Jews. After graduating from university, he joined a local Summer theatre group as an assistant manager. He then performed with the National Repertory Theatre of Ottawa and at the Stratford, Ontario, Shakespeare Festival as an understudy working with such as Alec Guinness, James Mason, and Anthony Quayle. He came to the attention of New York critics and was soon playing important roles in major shows on live television.
Shatner spent many years honing his craft before debuting alongside Yul Brynner in The Brothers Karamazov (1958). He was kept busy during the 1960s in films such as Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) and The Intruder (1962) and on television guest-starring in dozens of series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), The Defenders (1961), The Outer Limits (1963) and The Twilight Zone (1959). In 1966, Shatner boarded the USS Enterprise for three seasons of Star Trek (1966), co-starring alongside Leonard Nimoy, with the series eventually becoming a bona-fide cult classic with a worldwide legion of fans known variously as "Trekkies" or "Trekkers".
After "Star Trek" folded, Shatner spent the rest of the decade and the 1970s making the rounds, guest-starring on many prime-time television series, including Hawaii Five-O (1968), Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969) and Ironside (1967). He has also appeared in several feature films, but they were mainly B-grade (or lower) fare, such as the embarrassingly bad Euro western White Comanche (1968) and the campy Kingdom of the Spiders (1977). However, the 1980s saw a major resurgence in Shatner's career with the renewed interest in the original Star Trek (1966) series culminating in a series of big-budget "Star Trek" feature films, including Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991). In addition, he starred in the lightweight police series T.J. Hooker (1982) from 1982 to 1986, alongside spunky Heather Locklear, and surprised many fans with his droll comedic talents in Airplane II: The Sequel (1982), Loaded Weapon 1 (1993) and Miss Congeniality (2000).
He has most recently been starring in the David E. Kelley television series The Practice (1997) and its spin-off Boston Legal (2004).
Outside of work, he jogs and follows other athletic pursuits. His interest in health and nutrition led to him becoming spokesman for the American Health Institute's 'Know Your Body' program to promote nutritional and physical health.Star Trek (1966)

Although she was presented in 1969 the first Film Star of Tomorrow by The Motion Picture Exhibitors of Canada, the status of Sharon Acker as a star never materialized. Not that she was inactive, quite the opposite, but she worked almost only for TV and appeared only in a few undistinguished movies. She will, nevertheless, remain remembered for her role as Lee Marvin's ex-wife in John Boorman's classic Point Blank (1967). The victim of Marvin's rough manners, Acker as Lynne left a deep impact on male brains. Born in 1935, the Canadian-born actress started her film career in England when the play she was in, "Lucky Jim", Kingsley Amis' classic, was made into a movie. But she was not seen in many movies, except during the sixties, either in Canada or in the U.S. Meanwhile, she was very active on TV, first in Canada from the age of 19, then in the U.S. in made-for-TV movies or series like Star Trek (1966), Mission: Impossible (1966), Gunsmoke (1955), Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969), Barnaby Jones (1973), etc. She was a regular in the series The Bold Ones: The Senator (1970) for one year and played "Della Street" in the short-lived The New Perry Mason (1973). A talented actress seen too little in movie theaters.Star Trek (1966)- Actor

Michael was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and grew up in Scarborough, North York, and Richmond Hill. With the original intention of becoming a doctor, Michael studied Human Biology and Sociology at the University of Toronto. In his second year, he was asked to voice characters for a couple of student productions, which is how he caught the "acting bug". After graduating, he enrolled at the Toronto Film School, which was part of the International Academy of Design and Technology in the CBC Building, and began auditioning for roles in theatre and independent film productions. He often volunteered to perform in student projects from the Film Production and Sound Engineering programs at the school and was interviewed by CBC Radio 1 for his work.
Michael's first role was as a Chinese pirate in the Toronto Pirate Festival's stage show. This was followed by Forward Theatre's critically acclaimed production of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" where he played Angus, and then the leading role in the Toronto Chinese Business Association's production of "The Legend of the Dragon Boat Festival". Michael's transition to an on-screen career began when he started doing background work on major productions. What he learned from those experiences prepared him for when he found an agent in order to audition professionally.
Now, Michael is an ACTRA member who works predominantly in film and television. He plays Alex Chang in the YTV/BBC show "Popularity Papers" and has also appeared in many other productions, including "Star Trek: Discovery", "The Hardy Boys", "The Kids in the Hall", "Blood & Treasure", "Mayday", "Unsettled", and "Swindler Seduction".
Outside of acting, Michael is the co-host of "The Hellbound Podcast", where he and Alex Blackburn discuss all things horror. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Michael began to try his hand at filmmaking. His second film, the micro short "The ONLY Asian", has won a multitude of awards at international film festivals, including a Best Actor award for Michael at Calcutta International Cult Film Festival. He has since teamed up with some of the industry's finest to produce several short films that have been very well received in the festival circuit.Star Trek: Discovery- Actor

On Friday, August 5th of this year, Montreal-born Alain Chanoine made a grand entrance into Hollywood with his role as the legendary mythological sex demon 'Incubus', the brother of Cara Delevingne's 'Enchantress' in Warner Bros.' massive feature film, 'Suicide Squad'. Now in his early 30s, Alain has been honing his craft for over a decade. He was barely 20 and studying to be a police officer when an audition poster at his college caught his eye. His spur-of-the-moment decision to go to the casting call proved to be a massive game-changer: Alain landed the lead role in the feature film. Unfortunately, the project never got off the ground, but this initial success provided the inspiration that drove him to work full-time at becoming an actor. Although Alain has always focused on his acting career, he has also had tremendous success in stunts. When he was just 23 years old, the producers of the Wesley Snipes feature "Blade: Trinity" were looking for a double for the star and Alain seemed to be a perfect fit. Alain was a Canadian National Karate Champion at the time, and his world class martial arts skills led him to be chosen to fight Snipes, Jessica Biel, and Ryan Reynolds in the big finale playing approximately 20 different characters and dying as each and every one of them. Alain has since amassed more than 30 film & television credits as an actor, with projects that have taken him all over the world, including New Zealand and Bulgaria, among other destinations. Major Hollywood networks and studios are now giving serious consideration to Alain's talent. In 2016 alone, Alain has been on the short list, or screen-tested for five different series leads, Fluent in English, French, and Creole, with the physique and looks of a male model and the acting skills of an Oscar-winner, Alain Chanoine has now captured the attention of the western world by playing 'Incubus'. Osric Chau was born in Vancouver, Canada, to a father from Hong Kong and a mother from Malaysia. He had spent years training martial arts with aspirations to work in stunts when he landed his first leading role alongside the late David Carradine in Kung Fu Killer (2008) that was shot in Hengdian, China.
The following year Osric played Nima, the Tibetan monk, in Roland Emmerich's 2012 (2009), working with veteran actors John Cusack and Thandiwe Newton, that grossed over $760 million worldwide. That success brought Osric back to China where he worked on the Chinese Remake of What Women Want (2012) alongside Andy Lau and Gong Li and The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) with Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu and director, writer, actor and rap musician RZA.
In 2011 Osric landed another leading role in Paramount's Fun Size (2012) with Victoria Justice, Thomas Mann and Jane Levy. The Halloween comedy also includes Chelsea Handler, Josh Pence and Johnny Knoxville.
In 2012 Osric started work on Supernatural (2005) as genius high school student pulled into the role of prophet, Kevin Tran, a character he played on the show over 16 episodes in seasons 7-9 and 11. This work got him noticed and his acting roles have become more prolific since his appearance in the series.
In the process Osric has more than found a passion for acting and filmmaking. He still enjoys stunts, and has enormous appreciation of the skill and sacrifices involved but he'll settle with doing as many of his own stunts as a production will allow..Star Trek: Discovery- Actress

Singing has long been a love in his life. From the days of singing as a child in his grandfather's church, to singing the national anthem in uniform as a member of the Toronto Argonauts, singing has always been "like breath itself," he says. Distressed by television coverage of Africa's young famine victims, Clark wrote the lyrics, melody, and chorus to Letter from a Concerned Citizen Starvation in Africa. The Canadian Red Cross used the song for their national television and radio campaign to raise funds for their relief efforts in Africa.
Of his three CDs he says, "They speak to the need for effective community and global co-operation, how through assisting each other in times of need we can accomplish anything. These songs motivate and encourage us to be our best, for there is greatness in all of us."Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Actor

David Cronenberg, also known as the King of Venereal Horror or the Baron of Blood, was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1943. His father, Milton Cronenberg, was a journalist and editor, and his mother, Esther (Sumberg), was a piano player. After showing an inclination for literature at an early age (he wrote and published eerie short stories, thus following his father's path) and for music (playing classical guitar until he was 12), Cronenberg graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Literature after switching from the science department. He reached the cult status of horror-meister with the gore-filled, modern-vampire variations of Shivers (1975) and Rabid (1977), following an experimental apprenticeship in independent film-making and in Canadian television programs.
Cronenberg gained popularity with the head-exploding, telepathy-based Scanners (1981) after the release of the much underrated, controversial, and autobiographical The Brood (1979). Cronenberg become a sort of a mass media guru with Videodrome (1983), a shocking investigation of the hazards of reality-morphing television and a prophetic critique of contemporary aesthetics. The issues of tech-induced mutation of the human body and topics of the prominent dichotomy between body and mind were back again in The Dead Zone (1983) and The Fly (1986), both bright examples of a personal film-making identity, even if both films are based on mass-entertainment materials: the first being a rendition of a Stephen King best-seller, the latter a remake of a famous American horror movie.
With Dead Ringers (1988) and Naked Lunch (1991), the Canadian director, no more a mere genre movie-maker but a fully realized auteur, got the acclaim of international critics. Such profound statements on modern humanity and ever-changing society are prominent in the provocative Crash (1996) and in the virtual reality essay of eXistenZ (1999), both of which well fared at the Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals. In the last two film projects Spider (2002) and A History of Violence (2005), Cronenberg avoids expressing his teratologic and oneiric expressionism in favor of a more psychological exploration of human contradictions and idiosyncrasies.Star Trek: Discovery- Orville Cummings stands as a luminary among Toronto's burgeoning talents, marking his presence as a rising star destined for greatness.
