- DirectorJoe BennettCharles HuettnerBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatWhen a deep space freighter is damaged by a solar flare its surviving crew are stranded on a beautiful and unforgiving planet. They begin to learn the true nature of this planet as they try to survive long enough to escape or be rescued.8.3/10 - Great pilot with such creativity, fascinating world building, and some intriguing characters. Wonderful atmosphere, very engrossing and promising start. Kinda confused why the animation is super smooth sometimes and choppy others though.
- DirectorJonathan Djob NkondoBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatAs a storm rages, Sam and Ursula set out to find the Demeter, while Azi and Levi seek shelter. Meanwhile, Hollow helps Kamen revisit old memories.7.7/10 - Continues to be beautiful, atmospheric and interesting, but story wise it’s the least interesting episode. I love the conflict with Levi and Avi though. A criticism I do have of the series is that the world building doesn’t seem to be limited by established rules, and it seems like the writers can just let the world do what they want, but part of the appeal of the series is also the mystery of how this magical world works, and it never feels too outrageous even if some parts are a little contrived.
- DirectorVincent TsuiBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatWhile Ursula bears witness to a transformation, Azi struggles with Levi's ever-changing personality as she tries to survive a deadly stampede.8/10 - Some beautiful moments. Probably the most conflicting episode though because I didn’t like the conflict with Sam and Ursula, and thought it felt forced. Other storylines were strong though.
- DirectorRachel ReidBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatIn pursuit of a missing Sam, Ursula must tap into her knowledge of the planet as she faces Vesta's wildlife alone. After failing to meet Hollow's increasing demands, Kamen becomes lost in a series of distressing memories.9.3/10 - All the storylines are building up in very compelling ways and getting closer together. The flashbacks are very intriguing and explore the characters well. Beautiful and thought provoking moments with Levi as well as some of the darkest with Kamen. Ends fantastically in a way that makes the story click.
- DirectorChristine Jie-Eun ShinBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatAfter an encounter with another survivor, Kamen considers the weight of his actions, while Azi experiences a change of heart.9.3/10 - Incredibly tragic and dark flashback that really hits hard.
- DirectorDiego PorralBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatAs Sam grapples with his injuries, Ursula encounters an eerily familiar foe. After a set-back forces them to continue on foot, Azi and Levi confront a series of mounting obstacles - including a creature unlike anything they've seen before.9.3/10 - Brutal episode with 2 paths merging. Weakened by 2 fake outs though.
- DirectorJonathan Djob NkondoBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuBob StephensonFacing mounting health issues, Ursula and Azi each find that they are not alone.7.7/10 - New introductions, feels a little forced though, unsure of the direction the second half is taking, but still highly compelling.
- DirectorVincent TsuiBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuBob StephensonWhile Azi leads Kris, Terrence, and Barry towards her downed ship, Ursula struggles to keep up with an overzealous Sam.8.7/10 - Shocking and unexpected episode. Great cliff hanger ending. Really eerie direction.
- DirectorRachel ReidBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuBob StephensonAfter reaching an insurmountable obstacle, Azi must learn to trust Kris and Barry. Meanwhile, rough waters test a newly reborn Sam.8.5/10
- DirectorChristine Jie-Eun ShinBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuBob StephensonDriven by memories of her final days on deck, Azi confronts Kris in a fight for the lives of her abandoned crewmates. As they near the end of their journey, Sam presents Ursula with a devestating truth.8.7/10 - Everything’s coming together. Missed Kamen. Conflicts rising with Avi and Kris. Solid flashback. Emotional goodbye, but felt too reminiscent to Episode 6 to hit as hard as it should’ve. I really like the conflicting motives of the characters that all feel real. I didn’t like the opening scene though.
- DirectorDiego PorralBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatWhile Kris and Barry attempt to steal and leave with the shuttle clueless as to what awaits them, Ursula frees Azi from her binds after which they race to stop the thieves and discover what is left of the ruined Demeter.Kinda underwhelmed with what they did with Kamen’s storyline the last few episodes. With the ending of the last episode I really thought we would’ve moved forward quicker, it kinda ends with what I thought should’ve happened early on in this episode.
- DirectorVincent TsuiBenjy BrookeStarsSunita ManiWunmi MosakuAlia ShawkatWhile a blood-thirsty Hollow destroys what little is left of their ship, Azi and Ursula fight to save the remaining crew. As Kris prepares to escape, Barry faces a life-changing decision that could shape Vesta's future.Hmmmmm… I don’t know what to think about this. I’m pretty disappointed with what happened and how it happened. We really had 2 Deus Ex Machina moments. What I feared about the lack of rules in the world allowing for the writers to do whatever they want happened, and it became too ridiculous. Overall a great show, but the last 2 episodes tanked it for me from being an amazing show. I don’t think the show should necessarily answer a lot of questions but this episode brought up too many. Interesting ending though, I will continue to watch if there’s a second season.
