British actor Mark Strong, who played Jim Prideaux in the 2011 remake of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), is often cast as cold, calculating villains. But before he became a famous actor, he intended to pursue a career in law.
Strong was born Marco Giuseppe Salussolia in London, England, to an Austrian mother and an Italian father. His father left the family not long after he was born, and his mother worked as an au pair to raise the boy on her own. Strong's mother had his name legally changed, by deed poll, when he was young in order to help him better assimilate with his peers. He became Mark Strong.
Strong attended Wymondham College in Norfolk, and studied at the university level in Munich with the intent of becoming a lawyer. After a year, he returned to London to study English and Drama at Royal Holloway. He went on to further master his craft of at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Although Americans are most familiar with Strong's roles as Sinestro in Green Lantern (2011), mob boss Frank D'Amico in Kick-Ass (2010), and Lord Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes (2009), British audiences know him from his long history as a television actor. He also starred in as numerous British stage productions, including plays at the Royal National Theatre and the RSC.
His most prominent television parts include Prime Suspect 3 (1993) and Prime Suspect: The Last Witness (2003) as Inspector Larry Hall, and starring roles in the BBC Two dramas Our Friends in the North (1996) and The Long Firm (2004), the latter of which netted Strong a BAFTA nomination. He also played Mr. Knightley in the 1996 adaptation of Jane Austen's classic tale Emma (1996).

Taron Egerton is a British actor and singer, known for his roles in the British television series The Smoke, the 2014 action comedy film Kingsman: The Secret Service, and the film Rocketman (2019). He has also played Edward Brittain in the 2014 drama film Testament of Youth, appeared in the 2015 crime thriller film Legend, starred as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards in the 2016 biographical film Eddie the Eagle, voiced Johnny in the 2016 animated musical film Sing, and reprised his role in the 2017 Kingsman sequel, The Golden Circle.
Taron David Egerton was born on 10 November 1989 in Birkenhead, Merseyside, to parents from nearby Liverpool. His grandmother is Welsh. His first name is a variation of "taran," which means "thunder" in the Welsh language. His father and family ran a bed-and-breakfast and his mother works in social services. He spent some of his early childhood on the Wirral Peninsula, and moved with his family to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, on the Welsh island of Anglesey, where he went to primary school.
Egerton moved to Aberystwyth, also in Wales, when he was twelve. Egerton considers himself to be Welsh "through and through," and is conversant in the Welsh language, albeit admitting that his Welsh is not as good as it previously was. Colin Andrew Firth was born into an academic family in Grayshott, Hampshire, England. His mother, Shirley Jean (Rolles), was a comparative religion lecturer at the Open University, and his father, David Norman Lewis Firth, lectured on history at Winchester University College (formerly King Alfred's College) in Winchester, and worked on education for the Nigerian government. Firth's first acting experience came in infant's school when he played "Jack Frost" in a Christmas pantomime. Sienna Rose Diana Miller was born in New York City, but was raised in London, United Kingdom. Her father, Edwin "Ed" Miller, who is American-born, is an investment banker and a dealer in Modern Chinese paintings. Her mother, Josephine "Jo" Miller, was a South African model and a personal assistant to David Bowie; she went on to manage the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City, and then became a yoga instructor. Samuel Leroy Jackson was born in Washington, D.C., to Elizabeth (Montgomery) and Roy Henry Jackson. He was raised by his mother, a factory worker, and his grandparents. Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill was born on the Bailiwick of Jersey, a British Crown dependency in the Channel Islands. Sir Michael Gambon was born in Cabra, Dublin, Ireland, to Mary (Hoare), a seamstress, and Edward Gambon, an engineer. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is an English stage, television, and film actor.
He was born Aaron Perry Johnson in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, to Sarah and Robert Johnson, a civil engineer. He has a sister, Gemma Johnson, who had a small role in his movie Tom & Thomas (2002). Aaron is of English-Russian Jewish descent.
He began performing at age six, appearing in plays like Macbeth and All My Sons. He worked frequently on television as a young actor, having roles in the TV films The Apocalypse (2002), Behind Closed Doors (2003), The Best Man (2006), and Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars (2007), and series The Bill (1984), Family Business (2003), Feather Boy (2004), Casualty (1986), Talk to Me (2007), and Nearly Famous (2007). Sofia Boutella is an Algerian actress, dancer and model. She was born in the Bab El Oued district of Algiers in Algeria, the daughter of composer and jazz musician Safy Boutella, and an architect mother. She started classical dance education when she was five years old. In 1992, at age 10, she left Algeria with her family and moved to France, where she started rhythmic gymnastics, joining the French national team at age 18. Sofia started with hip hop and street dance, and was part of a group called the Vagabond Crew. She also participated in a group called Chienne de Vie and Aphrodites. She has been rehearsing since age 17 with choreographer Blanca Li, and danced in several film and television appearances, as well as commercials and concert tours.

Two-time BAFTA-nominated director Dexter Fletcher is an English actor-turned-filmmaker whose movies and TV work include the Academy Award-winning Elton John biopic Rocketman. Fletcher started his career in front of the camera at the age of 6; three years later he played "Baby Face" in Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone. At 16 Fletcher became the youngest regular member of London's Royal Shakespeare Company, at 23 he was the breakout star of the hit British show Press Gang, and in four decades as an actor his screen and stage co-stars have included Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Robert De Niro, Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman, and Liam Neeson, among others. The esteemed directors Fletcher has worked for include David Lynch, Mike Leigh, Michael Winterbottom, Ken Russell, Derek Jarman, and Guy Ritchie.
Fletcher made his debut as a filmmaker with the felons-and-fatherhood drama Wild Bill (2011), which won him two Writers' Guild of Great Britain awards and earned a BAFTA nom for Outstanding Debut; the film currently has a rare 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. His follow-up, Sunshine on Leith (2013), was an adaptation of a stage work based on music by the Scottish band the Proclaimers. It debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Later that year, Fletcher was asked to take over directing duties on Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), which told the story of late rocker Freddie Mercury and the band Queen. Fletcher had helped develop that film, and, while uncredited, he helmed the final weeks of shooting and oversaw post-production. The film grossed over $900 million worldwide and won four Oscars, including Best Editing and Best Actor for Rami Malek's portrayal of Mercury.
Fletcher's fourth film, Rocketman (2019) - a dynamic, vibrant biopic about the life of rock legend Elton John, who provided full rights to his music - reunited Fletcher with Taron Egerton. Fletcher next directed the romantic adventure comedy Ghosted, starring Ana de Armas and Chris Evans, about a CIA assassin wanting a life outside of her dangerous job and the everyday guy who falls for her without knowing her profession - which involves saving the world. The film premiered on Apple TV+ on April 21. Ghosted reunited Fletcher with cinematographer Salvatore Totino, who worked on episodes of The Offer.
Fletcher will return to acting in director Vanessa Caswill's adaptation of the bestselling novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. The Netflix film is due in 2023.
