The MCU has several projects lined up for release in the coming years, including the ‘Blade’ reboot. This reboot aims to introduce the iconic vampire hunter to the MCU.
Mahershala Ali proposed the project and will star as the titular character. Initially planned for a 2023 release, the movie has been delayed to 2025 (so far) due to Ali’s dissatisfaction with the script.
The movie went through a rough development phase, with the story changing several times and Mahershala nearly quitting at one stage. Some actors, like Aaron Pierre, also dropped out for reasons not disclosed. Recent reports suggest the movie’s plot has been simplified, focusing solely on Blade hunting vampires, and filming is set to begin in Mexico. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, who has a solid track record, Wesley Snipes is rumored to make a comeback in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, appearing in multiple undisclosed projects.

Nothing is beyond possibility, at least in the multiverse saga. Spider-Man: No Way Home is a prime example of that, as the Tom Holland starrer movie created the spectacle bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield alongside their iconic villains. In its essence, the speculation might just come true as Marvel is reportedly planning big for Avengers: Secret Wars.

Mahershala Ali has been attached to the Blade reboot for what seems like almost an eternity now. The actor’s casting was received very well. Most importantly, he is not a new face to Marvel fans, since he played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage.
The actor is very well-respected in the industry, owing to his charming personality and acting chops. However, his turn as the Daywalker in the Marvel reboot is still up in the air, with the production yet to take off. If rumors are to be believed, the film looks set to make yet another change, thereby raising questions about Ali’s possible MCU debut.

This would lead Tia Carrere to land a role in the film Aloha Summer. She says she was super nervous because she had never acted before and hadn’t even thought of it as an option in her life but she did it! Ms Carrere grew up wanting to be a singer…. and she did that too!

Superhero movies’ reign continues at the box office, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe standing as the juggernaut of the genre. While movies like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man or the early 2000s X-Men films are often hailed for launching this expansive series of action-packed blockbusters, there’s a trio of superhero films often overlooked in discussions about the MCU’s origins: the Blade movies.
Wesley Snipes in the Blade Trilogy
Released 25 years ago in 1998, Blade hit theaters at a time when Hollywood was still grappling with how to approach superhero films seriously. These movies played a crucial role in paving the way for the confidence needed to tackle adaptations of iconic characters like the X-Men and Spider-Man.
Suggestedx-Men vs. Blade: Which Is The Better MCU Progenitor Trilogy
Without Blade leading the charge, it’s unlikely that the momentum necessary for what eventually evolved into the Marvel Cinematic Universe would have been generated.

Ryan Reynolds has shown his tremendous worth time and time again by doing things that others presumed to be rather impossible. Like getting an R-rated Deadpool movie full of savagery, profanity, and Nsfw references greenlit from the MCU — something that many thought they could never get. Or like convincing Hugh Jackman to return to his fan-favorite role of Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool.
But if there is, indeed, an impossible mission for Reynolds, then it is none other than bringing one Marvel actor back to the franchise: Wesley Snipes. And it’s most certainly not because he can’t do it, no. Rather, it is because he himself wouldn’t want to do it, thanks to Snipes being quite infamous for all the notoriety he showed on the sets of his Blade trilogy.

Aaron Pierre is no longer attached to Marvel’s upcoming “Blade” film, Variety has learned.
The actor revealed the update to Variety on the red carpet for the 55th NAACP Image Awards.
“Early on, there were conversations,” Pierre said of his involvement. “As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that — attached.”
Pierre was set to star alongside Mahershala Ali, who plays the vampire hunter originally brought to life by Wesley Snipes. Pierre’s role remained undisclosed, although it was reported that he was chosen for the part after an expansive and thorough casting process. Everything about the first trailer for the reboot of The Crow looks familiar. Sure, some of that is to be expected, as the 2024 movie retells the story from the 1994 cut classic. And yes, The Crow 2024 does make some obvious choices, casting Bill Skarsgård as a weird tall skinny guy and Danny Huston as a bad guy.
But besides the paint-by-numbers approach that director Rupert Sanders seems to be taking with the property, the really familiar part is The Crow‘s approach to comic book adaptations. Those young enough to have listened to the soundtrack to The Crow back in the ’90s will remember that the current pop culture landscape seemed impossible 30 years ago. Only the most recognizable superheroes got translated to live-action, and even then received a radical make-over, sanding down all of the colorful comic book aspects and stuck into a standard action flick.

Marco Brambilla's 1993 film "Demolition Man" has a pretty wild premise. In the near-future of 1996, a wildly destructive criminal named Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) is at large and taking hostages in Los Angeles. The cop sent in to apprehend Pheonix is John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone), an officer so reckless that he's earned the nickname of Demolition Man. When Spartan finds and confronts Pheonix, he explodes the building they're in. They both escape, but an investigation reveals the bodies of the hostages in the rubble. Oops. Spartan didn't handle that operation very well.
As punishment, Spartan and Pheonix are both subjected to a new prison experiment. Instead of living in cells, prisoners are cryogenically frozen for decades and fed subliminal rehabilitation messages. Spartan is thawed in the year 2032, where the world is now overseen by a benevolent (seeming) right-wing cult leader who has whipped Los Angeles -- now San Angeles -- into shape.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph only broke out in 2019, but she’s already one of the most talented actors in the business.
Born in 1986 to a Philadelphia family, Randolph has her roots in the theater; at Temple University, she initially studied classical vocal performance and opera, switching her major to musical theater. Fans have been excited beyond measure for Mahershala Ali’s portrayal of Blade in the new reboot for the MCU. While the character has already been adapted once with Wesley Snipes in the lead, this would be the first time that the character would be shown in the MCU and would appear along with other Marvel characters.
While Ali’s inclusion was announced way back in 2019, the film has been delayed numerous times. The actor only had a brief voice cameo in the post-credits scene of Eternals but has not made any other appearances since. It was rumored that the actor was not satisfied with the script and was threatening to exit the role after four years of no updates.

Tony Ganios, best known for playing Anthony ‘Meat’ Tuperello in Porky’s, is dead at the age of 64. According to the actor’s fiancée Amanda, Tony was admitted to a hospital in New York on Saturday with a severe spinal cord infection but passed away of heart failure following surgery on Sunday.
“The last words we said to each other were, ‘I love you,’” Amanda wrote on X. “Love is an understatement. You are everything to me. My heart, my soul and my best friend.“
He made his feature-film debut in Philip Kaufman’s coming-of-age comedy-drama The Wanderers, which followed a group of Italian-American teenagers and their power struggles against rival gangs in the Bronx in 1963. The film was a success upon release, but its popularity grew over the decades as it developed a passionate following, even leading Warner Bros. to re-release the movie in 1996.

Tony Ganios, the actor who made his film debut in Philip Kaufman’s 1979 coming-of-age comedy-drama The Wanderers and played audience favorite Anthony ‘Meat’ Tuperello in the 1980s Porky’s sex comedy franchise, died Sunday following surgery at a hospital in New York. He was 64.
His death was announced on social media by his fiancée, Amanda Serrano-Ganios, who said that the actor fell ill last week, was hospitalized Saturday with a spinal cord infection, and passed away Sunday of heart failure.
Cast as one of the Bronx Italian-American street toughs in the 1963-set The Wanderers, based on the novel by Richard Price, Ganios became, for much of the ’80s, a go-to actor for directors looking for a touch of East Coast flavor. Ganios re-teamed with his Wanderers co-star Ken Wahl for a recurring role as a mob lawyer on Wahl’s 1987-90 crime series Wiseguy.

The fact that there was going to be a Blade reboot as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came as a huge surprise when the announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July of 2019 – but all these years later, we’re still waiting on the film to make its way into production. Filming is supposedly going to commence soon, though, so we figured it was time to put together a list of Everything We Know About Blade.
Mahershala Ali
The Blade character was previously played by Wesley Snipes in three feature films and by Sticky Fingaz in a short-lived television series. This time around, he’s going to be played by Mahershala Ali, who was already attached to the project when it was announced in 2019… and while there was no indication online that Ali has been interested in playing Blade, this was actually a role he had...

What’s happening in the world of Marvel’s “Blade”? More and more delays, apparently. Announced at Comic-Con 2019, Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali was reportedly the one that sparked Marvel’s interest in the project, approaching the studio that they needed a new version of the Wesley Snipes starring classic for the MCU, and they agreed. “Blade” was announced five years ago but is heading to what sounds like its third or fourth delay, depending on who’s counting.

Of all the upcoming projects from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a total reboot film Blade starring Mahershala Ali in the lead as the superhero of the same name remains one of the most anticipated movies of Phase 5. This stands all the more truer after Wesley Snipes failed to land the perfect end-film in 2004 for his trilogy of The Vampire Hunter.
Marvel Studios’ Blade
However, amid the growing anticipation for the film, multiple rumors have been popping up about the film and Ali’s involvement in it. One of these even reportedly claimed that Mahershala Ali had exited the Blade reboot project, making fans who were really looking forward to seeing him in the character of Eric Brooks panic. And after much wait, an industry insider has finally addressed the rumor.

Fill the blank with a battleship or train and you get Under Siege 1 & 2, from when Steven Seagal was still watchable. Make it a high rise or airport? You get Die Hard 1 & 2. A hockey rink during the NHL finals? Sudden Death, with a young Jean Claude Van Damme. Commercial airliner? Wesley Snipes in Passenger 57. Air Force One? “President” Harrison Ford.

A poster for a 2024 Netflix reboot of New Jack City starring Mahershala Ali is circulating online, leading many to wonder if the remake of the 1991 movie is real.

It seemed like The Expendables franchise would jump the shark with its third film. That entry would bring in such names like Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Kelsey Grammer and Wesley Snipes; however, it would betray its concept by pushing them aside for new blood who had little connection to the 80s/90s action genre that it was celebrating. Even with its fanbase, the third movie was not well-received, so it was perplexing what the intention was with a fourth film. And one that had the audacity to push Sylvester Stallone himself aside. The fourth movie came and went with a whimper, but the film has managed to secure a bevy of nominations…for the Razzie Awards.

Kevin Hart just can't seem to stop making stuff. The comedian can be found everywhere right now, from his Peacock talk show to his standup specials, and of course, Netflix. The biggest current streaming platform has hosted many a Hart-led project in recent years, and most of them have kind of come and gone without too much fanfare. Which is a shame because, at one point, the man convinced the great Wesley Snipes to appear alongside him in "True Story," a limited series partly based on Hart's own experiences. "True Story" topped the Nielsen streaming chart but, as the Chicago Tribune surmised, it sadly "lack[ed] any depth beyond what Snipes is bringing to it."
Now, Hart's at it again, this time with a new film helmed by "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray that looks ... similarly kind of ok. In late 2023, the "Lift" trailer arrived, promising a $500 million...

Marvel trusted Creed director Ryan Coogler to bring Black Panther to the big screen. But if Training Day filmmaker Antoine Fuqua shot the picture, his Black panther would’ve looked a bit different.

Ryan Coogler turned out to be the perfect choice to direct Black Panther. His film was both critically acclaimed, and one of the highest grossing superhero movies in cinema history. But before Coogler was brought on board, there was a point in time when Fuqua was being looked at for the project. Fuqua asserted he was in consideration years ago, perhaps before Marvel’s film studio was even a thing. But superhero movies weren’t up his alley.

“The Expendables” is one of Hollywood’s most famous and successful action franchises ever. It is known for its very dynamic action sequences and a star-studded ensemble cast with actors renowned for their roles in action movies, with a hint of comic relief woven into the mix. The most exciting part about this franchise is that it is directed by the man of action.
Sylvester Stallone created this whole franchise to pay homage to the action films of ‘his time.’ And to prove that, he assembled nearly every prominent actor associated with the action genre. The movies consist of, of course, Sylvester Stallone, in addition to Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Randy Couture in the titular roles. Lots of people dream of making a studio movie, but in the midst of their reverie, they don't always take into account just what a grueling process it can be. People work long hours and are expected to be at their sharpest every day so that the project doesn't fall behind schedule or go over budget. From the director on down, the pressure to deliver is immense. So every now and then, a little levity is in order. This occasionally results in on-set pranks, which sometimes get a tad out of control.
Consider the case of 1996's "The Fan." Tony Scott's thriller about a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan (Robert De Niro) who begins stalking his favorite baseball player (Wesley Snipes) was a high-profile production for Sony. The studio poured $55 million into the movie, and hoped it would be a late-summer, adult-skewing smash à la "The Fugitive" or "Unforgiven.

Bethesda and Arkane Lyon have announced that they’re working on Marvel’s Blade, a third-person, single-player game based on the moody vampire hunter.

Usually, when people think of the greatest decade for action movies, the 80s are what they think of. After all, this is the era that gave us Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, the Rambo movies, and so many more. But, the nineties was just as important a decade, giving birth to just as many legends of the genre, and it was the last significant era for R-rated action flicks. But what are the best action movies of the 90s? It’s tough to say, but here are 10, plus an honourable mention, that we think we deserve a place in the pantheon.
Honourable Mention: Demolition Man:
When this came out in the fall of 1993, it wasn’t considered all that special. It apparently lost money at the box office, but within a few years, this Sylvester Stallone/ Wesley Snipes mashup became a major cult classic, and now it’s one of the...

The release date for Marvel’s upcoming Blade reboot has shifted several times already – at one point, it was scheduled to release in 2024 – and we’ve got another new date today.
Most recently slated for release on February 14, 2025, Blade will now daywalk into movie theaters on November 7, 2025. It’ll be the first time the vampire-slaying Marvel Comics character has been seen on the big screen since Blade: Trinity, released back in 2004.
Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) will sit in the director’s chair for Blade’s big screen return in late 2025. Mahershala Ali is starring alongside Mia Goth (X, Pearl).
According to Demange, the upcoming movie will definitely be rated “R.”

‘Blade’: Director Yann Demange Confirms R-Rating & Is Excited To Unleash Mahershala Ali’s “Ferocity”
When it was announced that “Blade” would be getting remade and put in the MCU, fans were concerned about a number of things. Would it be largely connected to the various ‘Avengers’-level events or would it exist in its own horror-filled world? And would it be R-rated like the original Wesley Snipes-led films? Well, we’re not quite sure about that first question, but we finally have an answer for the second.

Comic book fans in the late 1990s likely recall the ambitious plan by Artisan Entertainment, a then-rising indie film studio, to make a long series of mid-budget films based on Marvel superheroes. Avi Arad, then the CEO of Marvel Entertainment, had overseen a deal that would allow Artisan to make movies with Black Panther, Thor, Deadpool, Ant-Man, Iron Fist, and Morbius, as well as Power Pack, Longshot, and an irreverent dark comedy about Mort the Dead Teenager. The deal was finalized in 2000. In 2003, however, Artisan was acquired by Lionsgate, effectively ending what would have been the ambitiously planned early-2000s mid-budget version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Despite how successful Disney's MCU would become a decade later, Marvel was once considered a non-viable source of film revenue. Indeed, while comic book sales were up across the board in the 1990s, Marvel was struggling to make their characters more visible in the marketplace.

Mahershala Ali, the Oscar-winning actor who is set to play the iconic vampire hunter Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was reportedly ready to leave the project due to creative differences with the studio. According to a recent article from Variety1, Ali was unhappy with the direction of the script, which had Blade as a secondary character in his own movie.
The article claims that one of the early drafts of the script, written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Nic Pizzolatto, had Blade as the fourth lead of the film, behind three new characters who were supposed to be his allies. The script also featured a villain who was a former lover of Blade’s mother, and a plot that involved a cult of vampires trying to resurrect Dracula.

The character is pretty simple! He looks cool, he has cool weapons, and he kills vampires. That's it, really. It's not that complicated. And yet, Kevin Feige and company continue to struggle with the project, which is set to star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role of the Daywalker. The project, along with Ali's casting, was first announced in 2019, and it's apparently been all downhill since then.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour was initially tapped to write the film, with Bassam Tariq directing. But Tariq left the project due to constant shuffling of the production and creative differences.
