For Kevin Kane, the endgame never wavered once he set a goal to move to New York in the early aughts to pursue a career in acting. He’ll tell you that luck seemed to always be on his side, as the actor from Philadelphia found work soon after his arrival to the Big Apple.
Kane was soon thrusted into the world of Dick Wolf Entertainment with small roles on Law & Order and Chicago P.D. This would eventually lead to his current recurring role as Detective Terry Bruno on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which aired its season 25 finale on May 16.
But early on, while studying acting at the William Esper Studio, Kane would formulate a lifelong bond and friendship with a fellow classmate named Amy Schumer. Together, they would not only hone their skills in drama and comedy, but also sharpen their writing, producing and whatever it would...

No matter how you slice it, five hundred episodes is a big deal.
Law & Order: Svu hit it last year, albeit with a controversial episode that angered many survivors.
Now it was Law & Order Season 23 Episode 12's turn. They marked their 500th episode with a story that, ironically enough, seemed more suited for Svu but otherwise seemed like a typical episode. Was it special enough for the 500th?
Law & Order Doesn't Do Tribute Episodes
When Sam Waterson exited the series on Law & Order Season 23 Episode 5, it was a strong story that was still disappointing because it didn't contain any flashbacks or other tributes to his iconic character. The same thing happened here.
That's the way it has to be to an extent. It would be off-brand to have an episode that's more tribute than original story. Still, there should have been something more to the story than...

Law & Order has been one of NBC's flagship programs for 23 years despite a ten-year hiatus, but is the formula that made it famous outdated now?
The original series pioneered the idea of "ripped from the headlines" stories and a format dedicating half of each episode to the police investigation and the other half to the arrestee's trial. This proved to be so popular that it spawned a ton of sequels and spinoffs.
Law & Order: Svu is the most successful, having just been renewed for a 26th season. However, Svu doesn't follow the format of its parent show most of the time, often dedicating 90% or more of the hour to the police investigation -- should its parent series follow suit?
Law & Order's heyday in the 1990s involved it becoming synonymous with the late, great Jerry Orbach. Orbach's character, Lennie Briscoe, became famous for cracking...

The good news: Law & Order Season 23 is on its way!
Now that the writers; and actors' strikes have been settled, the long-running procedural is all set for a shortened spring season. But it'll be short a cast member since Jeffrey Donovan has parted ways with the series.
What'll happen next? We have some ideas, but first, let's refresh our memories about what happened last year.
Law & Order Season 22 revamped Cosgrove's character a bit. He displayed a softer side and more of a willingness to listen. He also experienced the effects of racism firsthand when Shaw got in trouble for standing up to some white cops who assumed he was a criminal because of his skin color.
Cosgrove and Shaw gelled better than Cosgrove and Bernard had, making Cosgrove easier to take. He also had a Stabler-like storyline in which his daughter witnessed a murder and was traumatized.
By the end of the season,...

Peter S. Fischer, co-creator of Murder, She Wrote and writer on dozens of crime series such as Columbo, Ellery Queen and Murder spinoff The Law and Harry McGraw, has died. Grandson Jake McElrath confirmed his passing to The Hollywood Reporter. Fischer was 88.
Peter S. Fischer is best known for co-creating the juggernaut Murder, She Wrote franchise with Richard Levinson and William Link. He wrote 264 episodes of the CBS series, including the pilot, which ran from 1984-1996. The lighthearted mystery drama landed in the Top 10 for eight of those seasons and the Top 15 for the first 11.
Fischer also created and wrote 15 episodes of spinoff The Law and Harry McGraw, starring Jerry Orbach. It spotlighted McGraw, a private investigator who appeared in three episodes of Murder, She Wrote. It ran for one season from 1987 to 1988.

Peter S. Fischer, the late-blooming TV writer and producer who co-created Murder, She Wrote after serving on such other crime-solving series as Columbo, Baretta and Ellery Queen, has died. He was 88.
Fischer died Monday at a care facility in Pacific Grove, California, his grandson Jake McElrath announced.
He became a prolific novelist after he exited Hollywood, writing murder mysteries, of course.
Fischer, who had worked with Columbo co-creators Richard Levinson and William Link on the iconic Peter Falk series as well as on the Jim Hutton-starring Ellery Queen, accompanied the pair to a meeting with CBS executives in 1984, he recalled in a 2011 interview.
“CBS wanted to do a murder mystery and they called Dick, who was our ringleader. He said, ‘Ok, I’ll bring the boys,'” Fischer said. “We went over there and pitched a premise called Blacke’s Magic, about a retired magician who solves mysteries. It became...

Like the notion that it’s always 5 p.m. somewhere, there’s nearly always a vintage “Law & Order” airing with do-right Detective Ed Green, played by Jesse L. Martin. So when a new network series arrives with Martin in the lead role, it raises my hopes for must-see TV..
My irrational self wanted to love this intelligent, well-crafted show — but my rational side was beset by doubts, which the first three episodes available for review failed to dispel.
“The Irrational” stars Martin as Alec Mercer, a world-famous behavioral scientist who straddles between academia and more hands-on pursuits. He is a science guy, but not Bill Nye. The show’s title refers to his belief that even in man’s irrational behavior there are detectable motifs. His preternatural ability to discern these patterns make him indispensable in FBI investigations, such as when they have a kidnapper with a gun holding...

Tom Jones, who wrote the book and lyrics for the musical The Fantasticks, the longest-running musical in theater history, has died. He was 95.
He died Friday at his home in Sharon, Connecticut, following a battle with cancer, his son Michael told The New York Times.
Born Feb. 17, 1928, in Littlefield, Texas, Jones studied drama at the University of Texas in 1945 and met his longtime collaborator, Harvey Schmidt. After getting a master’s degree several years later, he and Schmidt were drafted during the Korean War.
Following his time in the service, Jones moved to New York to begin his career in theater. One of his first opportunities included working with composer John Donald Robb. He and Robb also developed the musical Joy Comes to Deadhorse, loosely based on Edmond Rostand’s 1894 play Les Romanesques. But the two ended up going their separate ways due to creative differences, and Jones continued to work on the musical.

Tom Jones, who wrote the book and lyrics for the musical “The Fantasticks” that ran for 42 years, died on Friday at his home in Sharon, Conn. He was 95 and passed from cancer, his son said.
The Fantasticks opened in 1960 in Greenwich Village and is best remembered for its opening song, “Try to Remember.”
Jones started his theater career in New York writing for the revues being staged by the impresario Julius Monk, working with another composer, John Donald Robb.
Jones and Robb called that show “Joy Comes to Deadhorse,” and in 1956, they staged it at the University of New Mexico, where Robb was a dean. The two had a falling out over what worked and what didn’t in the production, and Jones turned to collaborating with friend Harvey Schmidt.
Jones kept working on the piece with Schmidt that was originally devised with Robb. In 1959, when a friend was looking...

When you consider the evidence, the 1970s was the greatest crime movie period since the 1930s. Maybe it’s because of the grim film stock, but those 10 years were so filled with the criminal element even a highly-rated political journalism feature like All the President’s Men (1976) is really an investigation into indictable acts. The decade is defined by Francis Ford Coppola’s first two The Godfather movies, but those tell the story of the dons who live in compounds on Long Island. Most illicit infractions are committed on the street, and so many fall between the cracks.
Crime and gangster movies historically and consistently break boundaries in motion picture art. This is especially true when independent filmmakers muscle their way in packing something heavy. The 1970s was an experimental decade for motion pictures with wildly varied visions behind the lens. Some of these films were considered old-fashioned, others have proven...

At the conclusion of Apple TV +’s delightful 2021 musical comedy “Schmigadoon!,” Melissa (Cecily Strong) and Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) realized they loved each other and returned to the real world. The second season finds them blissfully married, but boredom soon sets in. And to add insult to injury, they can’t get pregnant. The two decide they need a boost, so they decide to return to the cotton-candy colored tuneful world of Schmigadoon.
But what they find this time around is Schmicago, a much darker town they can’t leave until they find their happy ending. Happy endings, though, are few and far between in the city that never sleeps. And it certainly looks like the two won’t find one anytime soon after Josh is soon arrested for murdering a showgirl.
Schmicago is Fosse-fied with more than a few jazz hands reflecting the adult musicals of the 1960s and 1970s including “Chicago,...

The death of NBC’s “Law & Order: Svu” legend Richard Belzer was met with mourning by his longtime co-stars, who shared memories of working with the man who played Det. John Munch along with other actors and writers who knew him from his days as a mainstay on the New York stand-up comedy circuit.

Richard Belzer, the beloved comedian who began as an edgy stand-up performer before finding further fame as the cynical but stalwart detective John Munch on Homicide: Life on the Street and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, has died. He was 78.

With his fourth individual and third ensemble bids for “Ozark,” Jason Bateman has reached a Screen Actors Guild Award nominations total of 12. This puts him behind just a dozen others on the organization’s list of most-recognized male actors (which is topped by 20-time contender Alec Baldwin). Since he already won Best TV Drama Actor for “Ozark” in 2019 and 2021, he is now on a path to becoming one of 26 four-time male SAG Award recipients and following James Gandolfini (“The Sopranos”) as his solo category’s second triple champ.
The three men Bateman currently faces in both the drama actor and ensemble races are Adam Scott (“Severance”) and “Better Call Saul” pair Jonathan Banks and Bob Odenkirk. Scott and Banks are both new to the individual category, while Odenkirk (who shared in a cast win for “Breaking Bad” in 2014) is looking to finally take the prize on his fifth outing. The...

Since its premiere in 1990, "Law & Order" has become the gold standard of police procedurals. It was by no means the first police procedural, but it is perhaps the most recognizable. True to its genre, each episode of this series features a crime that must be solved by detectives and prosecuted by the District Attorney's office. Although some storylines are original ideas, many take inspiration from high-profile cases, larger-than-life criminals, and current events within the U.S. justice system.
After three decades and counting, fans can enjoy over 400 episodes and 22 seasons of their favorite procedural. Director Roland Emmerich has brought us a whole lot of fun movies over the years, from Independence Day to The Day After Tomorrow, but as far as I’m concerned the best movie he has ever made was his 1992 sci-fi action film Universal Soldier (watch it Here), an awesome movie that pits Jean-Claude Van Damme against a villainous Dolph Lundgren. And that happens to be the movie The Arrow in the Head Show hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are talking about in the new episode of their show. To find out what they think of Universal Soldier, check out the video embedded above!
Scripted by Richard Rothstein, Christopher Leitch, and Dean Devlin, Universal Soldier tells the following story:
During the Vietnam War, soldier Luc Deveraux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) finds that his superior officer, Andrew Scott (Dolph Lundgren), has turned violently deranged, and the two fight to the death.

If you're of a certain age, you probably remember a time in which Richard Pryor movies aired on cable networks seemingly around the clock. Maybe it was "The Toy," or any of his numerous collaborations with Gene Wilder. But perhaps the most famous, and cable-friendly, was Pryor's 1985 film "Brewster's Millions." Directed by Walter Hill and produced on a budget of 20 million, the film was a solid success for Universal, finishing 16th at the box office in a stellar year that included classics like "Back to the Future," "Beverly Hills Cop," The Goonies," and "The Breakfast Club."
The film tells the story of Montgomery Brewster, a washed-up minor league baseball pitcher who learns he's the sole surviving descendent of his great-uncle, who left him 300 million ... with a giant caveat. In order to earn the full inheritance, he has to gamble: take a lump sum of 1 million and call it a day,...

Although he is included among the younger half of all Best TV Drama Actor SAG Award winners, reigning champ Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”) was part of the fourth oldest group of nominees in his category’s history. With an average age of 52, the 49-year-old and his 2022 competitors (who ranged in age from 39 to 75) came within two years of breaking the record set by Bryan Cranston and his fellow 2014 nominees. Now, judging by this season’s predominantly mature crop of hopefuls, that bar is almost sure to be raised.
According to Gold Derby’s predictions, the men most likely to be nominated for the 2023 Best TV Drama Actor SAG Award are past contenders Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), plus category newcomers Adam Scott (“Severance”), Jonathan Pryce (“The Crown”) and Dominic West (“The Crown”). There is no evidence that the late Angela Lansbury ever led airlifts to liberate emaciated orphans or helped rescue newborn kittens from burning buildings, but in her own way it seemed the woman was something of a saint all the same.
In the wake of the beloved entertainer’s death Tuesday at 96, evidence has surfaced that tied Lansbury to numerous benevolent acts while starring in the CBS series “Murder, She Wrote” during the show’s original run between 1984 and ’96 and while filming a series of four “Murder”-themed made-for-tv movies between 1997 and 2003. She made it a practice to lean on casting to hire guest actors and cameo performers of a certain age who were no longer steadily working and had failed to financially qualify for their Screen Actors Guild medical/dental benefits.

Anthony Anderson departs Law & Order before Season 22. Pic credit: NBC
Law & Order fans will get an answer to the departure of Detective Kevin Bernard.
Showrunner Rick Eid has revealed the upcoming Season 22 premiere will explain why Anthony Anderson’s detective is no longer on the iconic series.
It will come amid the now-confirmed three-part crossover with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Organized Crime.
The episode will also have the debut of Mehcad Brooks as the now-named Detective Jalen Shaw. While Brooks had been filming the series for some time, this is the first reveal of his character’s name.
This comes after months of questions about how the series would handle Bernard’s unexpected absence and address his reasons for leaving.
While it won’t be dealt with long, at least fans will get an answer to the unexpected departure of this famous cop.

“Our hearts are broken,” said Dee Dee Sorvino in a statement. “There will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life, and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage.”
Sorvino was the father of Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino.
My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed. My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over. He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much.

“To say that this is a dream come true is an understatement,” marveled Sutton Foster in 2002 when Jerry Orbach and Doris Roberts called her name as the winner of the Tony Award for her performance in “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” Now exactly 20 years later, Foster could win her third trophy for her work in the revival of the classic Broadway musical “The Music Man,” starring opposite fellow Tony winner Hugh Jackman. Below, see a list of all seven of Sutton Foster’s Tony nominations and her two wins.

Many fans are disappointed with the news that Anthony Anderson is not returning for Law & Order Season 22.
Bernard was not only the only cast member to return after the 10-year hiatus but also many fans' favorite of the three characters on the cop side of the hour.
Still, though, now that Law & Order Season 21 has wrapped up, we have high hopes for the next season!
Before Anderson's announcement, many fans hoped that Bernard would get a new partner over the summer break.
Jeffrey Donovan is doing a fine job, but Cosgrove is one of the most annoying cops to have hit the Law & Order franchise! He's always making a snide remark that demonstrates that he's out of touch with current issues.
To his credit, he did support a gay teenager's right to be who they are on Law & Order Season 21 Episode 6, but still.

If you don't rewatch "Dirty Dancing" every time it's on Bravo (like I do), your memories of the film might be a bit hazy. Everyone remembers Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze's crackling chemistry and incredibly romantic dancing - and, of course, the famous line "No one puts Baby in a corner." But you might have forgotten that the story's inciting incident involves an unplanned pregnancy, an illegal abortion, and a poignant message about the importance of reproductive rights.
The story opens in the summer of 1963. Grey plays Baby, the eldest daughter of Dr. Jake and Marjorie Houseman (Jerry Orbach and Kelly Bishop). Her family is spending the summer at the Kellerman's resort in the Catskills in upstate New York, and Baby feels a bit like an outsider among the other guests - who are mostly older - and among the Ivy League waitstaff, who flirt with all the guests' daughters.

The long-rumored sequel to 1987’s “Dirty Dancing” has a director and a release date, Lionsgate announced on Monday.
Filmmaker Jonathan Levine will direct “Dirty Dancing,” which he co-wrote with Elizabeth Chomko. The film, which Lionsgate teased during CinemaCon this year, brings Jennifer Grey back to the franchise as Frances “Baby” Houseman, her character from the original blockbuster.
Speaking to Deadline, Levine suggested that Grey may not be the only actor from the first film to reprise their role in his sequel. “We are about to talk to people and are exploring that,” he said.
“The most important thing for us was having Jennifer on board. She is an invaluable collaborator. We’re going to try to involve as many people from the original as is appropriate. We want to be respectful in every way,” he added.
According to Levine, the new film will also reference Swayze’s character, Johnny. “This...

It’s tough to say that there’s no need for a sequel to Dirty Dancing, but there are at least a couple of reasons that it might not be a good idea. The fact that Jennifer Grey had a nose job years ago isn’t a good enough reason to say no to this movie, but the absence of Jerry Orbach and Patrick Swayze would be reasons why a lot of people might say no. There is still a way to make it happen, which could be why it’s still thought that this might be on the back burner at the moment.

Has Law & Order hit its stride?
Law & Order Season 21 Episode 4 featured cops making sarcastic comments, a case with a ton of twists, and a story ripped from the headlines.
It wasn't exactly what the series was years ago, but it was making an effort, though its attempt to take on the issues surrounding pop star Britney Spears' lawsuit to terminate her father's guardianship was strange.
The police side of things seemed to go more smoothly than they had.
Bernard: Looks like our D.O.A. was a judge.
Cosgrove: Not the verdict he was looking for.
Permalink: Not the verdict he was looking for. Added: March 17, 2022
Cosgrove's attempt to channel Jerry Orbach's Briscoe with a few sarcastic one-liners aside, there was some solid police work. The cops did their best to untangle clues and work through a long suspect list to figure out what happened to Judge Keating.

Just one month after its inaugural season finale, “The Morning Show” swiftly proved its worth by scoring three 2020 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for cast members Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Billy Crudup. Aniston went on to win the drama actress race, but the men’s head-to-head battle ended in a draw when they both fell to Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”). Now, Aniston is in the running for a second solo trophy, and Crudup has been given another shot at his first. Since he is a category veteran and Carell and Dinklage are out of the picture, he could be on a secure path to victory this time.
In the drama actor race, Crudup faces Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”) and “Succession” trio Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong, all of whom are category first-timers. Culkin and Lee are total SAG Award newcomers, while Cox previously garnered two TV...

This week’s horror and sci-fi home media releases are a fun bunch, as we have a lot of great new movies to look forward to, as well as a ton of killer classic titles headed home to various formats. If you missed it in theaters, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is being released alone and then alongside the first two Ghostbusters films as a three-movie collection, and for those of you who love mind-blowing animation, you’re going to definitely want to check out The Spine of Night. One of my favorite films from 2021 was Danishka Esterhazy’s Slumber Party Massacre, so if you missed seeing it then, now you can catch up with it courtesy of Scream Factory.
In terms of older titles, several of my favorite movies are headed to Blu-ray this week from the fine folks at Kino Lorber: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) and both F/X...

There could be three Law & Order shows on NBC soon. The original series, which aired its series finale in 2010, is returning for Season 21, according to Wolf Entertainment. It “will continue where the show left off … with the classic format that explores two separate, yet equally important groups: ‘the police who investigate crimes and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.” “There are very few things in life that are literally dreams come true,” Dick Wolf said in a statement. “This is mine.” Law & Order Season 21 will be executive produced by Wolf, Rick Eid (who will also serve as showrunner and writer), Arthur Forney, and Peter Jankowski. Further details, including a premiere date and casting, will be announced at a later date. Over its first 20 seasons, its cast included Chris Noth, Dann Florek (who starred on Svu), Jerry Orbach, Sam Waterston, Benjamin Bratt, Jill Hennessy, Angie Harmon, Jesse L. Martin,...

Sidney Lumet’s harrowing film is a true-life account of a NY narcotics detective- turned government informant; its length and intensity can be emotionally overpowering. Treat Williams is the idealistic cop who blows up his whole life and ends up betraying all the people he hoped to protect. He doesn’t seem to understand the ruthless, opportunistic nature of ‘systemic reform’ as he goes from good guy to the object of hate for both crooks and cops, and a target for the very same system that welcomed his help. The Wac made an excellent choice with this one — it’s one of the most deserving, underappreciated films of the early 1980s.

Although the late Chadwick Boseman did not attract much awards attention during his brief film career, his final performances in “Da 5 Bloods” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” have now brought him plenty. He is now the second man (after Jamie Foxx in 2005) to receive double SAG nominations for individual film roles. By garnering ensemble bids for both films, he has also set a record for most SAG nominations for film in a single year.
In the supporting actor category, Boseman faces off against Sacha Baron Cohen (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”), Daniel Kaluuya (“Judas and the Black Messiah”), Jared Leto (“The Little Things”), and Leslie Odom Jr. (“One Night in Miami”). Love, sex, and friendship all in one episode?
After Resident Alien Season 1 Episode 5, won't it be even more difficult for Harry to end the human race?
It might be the first time that his complaints began to dissipate while his realizations and understanding of the strange things we do began to make more sense to him.
Human Harry had a wife, and it wasn't a fly-by-night relationship but the real deal that included a meet-cute montage right out of a classic Woody Allen movie.
There was romantic music, the cityscape of Manhattan behind them, and smooches on a penthouse balcony as they quickly fell in love.

Exclusive: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has a warrant out, in a manner of speaking, for Broadway actors. Next week’s episode features Tony-nominated Hadestown actor Eva Noblezada and Beetlejuice himself Alex Brightman, and showrunner Warren Leight tells Deadline that’s just the beginning.
Last night, after the episode casting was announced, Leight tweeted, “We are trying to hire every Broadway actor we can while we and they wait for the curtains to rise again.” And he wasn’t joking.
“We know how hard the community has been hit here,” Leight said in an interview. “The goal is to get as many jobs to as many theater actors as we possibly can.”
The offer couldn’t come at a more opportune time. The National Endowment for the Arts recently released figures indicating that while the overall unemployment rate has averaged 8.5 percent, the average among actors was 52 percent.
The NBC New York-based L&o franchise has long been known as a steady source of employment for the city’s theater performers – rare is the stage actor whose Playbill credits don’t include at least one of the L&o series – but the pandemic has pushed Leight’s team to ramp up even those efforts for the current Season 22.
Stage actors already cast in parts for this season include the Tony-winning Adriane Lenox, Elizabeth Marvel, Jane Bruce (Jagged Little Pill), Jelani Alladin (Disney’s Frozen), Michael Mastro (Love! Valour! Compassion!), and Betsy Aidem (Steel Magnolias).
Even Raúl Esparza, a four-time Tony nominee known to the wider TV audience for his six-season Svu run as Assistant D.A. Rafael Barba, is making a temporary franchise comeback to reprise the role for this week’s episode “Sightless in a Savage Land.”
Leight says the Broadway-filled roles range in scope from one-day parts to more substantial turns, but have an important practical impact for the actors, adding to the work day minimums required for Actors Equity-Broadway League health insurance.
The casting offers a significant logistical benefit to the show as well: casting New York actors is the more practical and efficient option during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the prospect of long-distance flights from Hollywood and required quarantine protocols can complicate using Los Angeles-based actors.
“In the past we’ve done what you could call Hollywood stunt casting,” Leight says, “but a lot of those players aren’t going to be willing to get on a plane and quarantine right now. We realized early on that we’ll have to cast locally much more.”
The Broadway shutdown also allows the show to get around the planning issues that Broadway’s usual performance schedule demands: Coordinating a shoot around the identical eight-performance weeks of working stage actors like Noblezada and Brightman (who Leight says enact “a horribly failed virtual romance” in the Jan. 14 episode) is daunting. There’s only so much guest-starring that can be crammed into a dark Broadway Monday.
Yet another plus for the production: Stage actors, accustomed to the tightrope walk of eight shows a week, are what Leight calls “money players,” guest stars who “hit their marks and can do it over and over” quickly. With pandemic safety precautions enforced on set – minimal personal contact, Covid testing, noisy stop-and-start ventilation, among other things – the production, he says, “doesn’t have time for actors who need to find it.”
“Our directors need to know that [guest actors] can do two scenes with Olivia and not be nervous,” he adds, referring to star Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson character.
Leight himself has an extensive stage background, including his 1998 Tony-winning Best Play Side Man, a Pulitzer finalist that starred the Tony-winning Frank Wood.
And yes, Wood will be popping up on Svu this season. Leight says Svu‘s medical examiners office has been “augmented” to include a role for his old friend.
Leight’s Tuesday night tweet was met with a quick response from New York stage actors. Jennifer Mudge, whose Broadway and Off Broadway credits include Into The Woods, Rocky and The Philanthropist, tweeted, “Warren, I feel like now is the time to tell you that only Svu is missing from my L&o trifecta completion. (Mothership twice!),” to which Leight responded, “On it.”
Three-time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello tweeted a simple, “Much appreciated,” while West Side Story actor Danny Wolohan wrote, “Broadway’s Officer Krupke says thank you!”
And Chris Orbach – actor, writer, musician and, as the son of the late Jerry Orbach, a member of an L&o royal family – weighed in. “God love you,” he responded to Leight’s tweet. “You cats are good like that.”
Law & Order: Svu, from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, airs Thursdays at 9 pm on NBC.
Thank you, @warrenleightTV! My last L&o stint was an episode staring John Ritter! I think it's time I came back for a visit! ❤️

Just like on “Succession,” the Number One Boy got the better of Logan Roy (for now). Jeremy Strong beat his TV father Brian Cox for the Best Drama Actor Emmy on Sunday, becoming just the sixth person to topple a co-star in the category.
The “Succession” twosome were the 17th pair of co-star drama actor nominees, but winning against a co-star has proven to be difficult. The only drama actor champs who’ve managed to do it are “I Spy’s” Bill Cosby, who went 3-0 against Robert Culp from 1966-68; “St. Elsewhere’s” Ed Flanders and William Daniels, who beat each other (Flanders in 1983 and Daniels in 1985 and ’86); Dennis Franz, who trump two “NYPD Blue” partners, David Caruso (1994) and Jimmy Smits; and “This Is Us'” Sterling K. Brown, who defeated Milo Ventimiglia on their first go-around in 2017.

as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Ashman was only 40 when he died of complications from AIDS in 1991. His life partner, architect Bill Lauch, picked up the posthumous Oscar that Ashman won for Beauty. Jeffrey Katzenberg, then propelling Disney’s animation renaissance, recalls seeing Ashman near the end, having lost his sight and weighing barely 80 pounds. It’s unlikely such a graphic depiction will ever surface on Blu-ray extras for the family-friendly blockbusters that Ashman created with composer Alan Menken — so cheers to Disney+ for presenting the revelatory doc.

Logan Roy and his Number One Boy’s new battleground? The Emmys. Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong both nabbed Best Drama Actor nominations Tuesday for “Succession” to become the 17th pair of co-stars to be nominated together.
The two are up against Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), Steve Carell (“Better Call Saul”), reigning champ Billy Porter (“Pose”) and former champ Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”).
Cox’s and Strong’s bids mark the fourth year in a row that co-stars have made the cut in this category. “This Is Us” scored nominations for Brown and Milo Ventimiglia from 2017-19, and “Westworld” fielded Ed Harris and Jeffrey Wright in 2018.
Before that, “True Detective,” competing as a drama for its first season, ended a 12-year dry spell with bids for Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in 2014. “Six Feet Under” was the last show to do so prior to that in 2002 with Michael C. Hall and Peter Krause.
