- Juli-Ann came from very humble beginnings. She grew up in the projects in Toronto (Regent Park area, the Jungle). After seeing what her Mother went through trying to raise 5 children alone in area's that only the strong survive, she was determined to make it out. As a result of her mother's teachings, she did make it out along with all of her siblings. Many of her friends did not, and either passed away from drug overdoses or are still living in the same projects they grew up in with their children. She became a motivational speaker, to many people in order to stress that these places are "stepping stones", not a place to stay. She continues to state that these places did not make her stronger. It was her Mother's strength and honesty that brought her to the place she is today. Actor's know her for sensing their ups and down's, and will actually stop camera to give this her full attention. "People need to care for each other, it will help us all". She states: "We will still have our problems and short comings and sometimes our demons get in the way, but we are worth doing better even if its baby steps".
