Watching "Gilligan's Island" reruns as a child always had this author wondering if "Gilligan" was the character's first name or last name. Gilligan, as played hilariously by Bob Denver, was the main character of the series, but also its buffoonish comic relief. He was most countered by his straight man, the Skipper (Alan Hale) or Professor Roy Hinckley (Russell Johnson), but he served as a foil for every character. Denver doesn't get enough credit for his pliability as a comic performer. Denver passed away in 2005 at the age of 70, best known for "Gilligan's Island" and for the 1959 sitcom "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis." He was also a regular on the Sherwood Schwartz series "Dusty's Trail" as well as the 1968 series "The Good Guys."
On "Gilligan's Island," many fans wondered what Gilligan's full name was. It seems that, at the end of the day, he's like Cher or Fabian, sporting only one name.

A Netflix crime thriller, Baby Bandito is a fictional retelling of a true event involving a Chilean man, Kevin Olguín Sepúlveda, who committed a grand heist of seven million pesos from an airport in Santiago, Chile. However, while the premise of the story is based on a true incident, some of the characters are completely fictionalized. The showmakers took creative liberties by adding depth and conflict to the characters’ lives to create a dramatic effect. One of these fictional characters who didn’t exist in real life but made a huge impact on the storyline is Felipe Munoz, aka Panda, Kevin’s childhood best friend. Let’s talk about his character to know what happened to him in the end.
Spoilers Ahead
How Did Panda And Kevin’s Relationship End?
Felipe Munoz, aka Panda, was Kevin Tapia’s best friend and had always been a great source of support in Kevin’s life.

NPR is about to get an adult rebrand. The new Peacock animated comedy series “In The Know,” premiering Thursday, Jan. 25, follows Lauren Caspian (Zach Woods) – well-meaning but totally hypocritical - as he conducts in-depth interviews with real world human guests across funny, scary, and friendly conversations. Oh, and did we mention he’s a stop motion puppet? Each episode in the series will follow the making of an episode of Caspian’s show In the Know, as he collaborates with other NPR staff (also puppets and nimrods) and asks the tough questions through his frail, overconfident male puppet persona that boasts a woman’s name: Lauren Caspian. Don’t miss any of the wacky humor from the mind of the man who’s portrayed some of your favorite characters in shows like “The Office” and “Silicon Valley” - Zach Woods. You can watch In the Know: Season 1 with a subscription to Peacock.

As played by Zach Woods, who’s made a career specializing in awkward, alarmingly pasty nerds, NPR host Lauren Caspian is the type of tote-bag-carrying, kombucha-swigging, self-described sapiosexual that any other show might mock by having him drop a particularly overexposed Hamilton quote. On Peacock’s In the Know, though, a simple “Immigrants, we get the job done” doesn’t cut it.
No, this comedy reaches instead for a deep-cut reference to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s West Wing rap, and sprinkles in throwaway details about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s autobiography or Lin-Manuel Miranda interviewing himself at the New Yorker Festival for good measure. They’re jokes precise enough that they feel like they could only be coming from inside the house, from people who know and love this world quite well. Mike Judge and Zach Woods take on the well-intentioned, if not slightly delusional, airwaves of public radio in the new trailer for the upcoming semi-animated series, In the Know.
The show centers around Lauren Caspian (voiced by Woods), public radio’s third most popular host, whose self-absorption and haughtiness are matched only by the dulcet tenor of his voice. Each episode centers around Lauren’s in-depth interview program, which will feature real-life celebrity guests.

Studio takeovers have been the talk of the town in Hollywood for some time. It’s been less a discussion of if control will be ceded to new companies and more a conversation about who is buying, and why. Will it be studios taking over other studios, or, perhaps, tech giants elbowing further into the industry?
This week the megadeal fever was kickstarted again as it was floated that Warner Bros. Discovery has expressed interest in a tie-up with Paramount Global, following a meeting between Warners CEO David Zaslav and Paramount CEO Bob Bakish in New York last Tuesday. Such a merger would be historic, especially since the rolling back of the 1948 consent decrees that ended in major studios divesting in their theater chains.
Given that such a merger would (once again) reshape the Hollywood landscape, it’s worth remembering the first time Warner Bros. was involved in a mega...

This interview does not contain major spoilers for Archer: Into the Cold but does tease certain moments.
It’s not the norm for an animated series to last for 14 seasons and nearly 150 episodes, and yet Archer has gone out with gumption, grace, and gravitas. The animated spy satire has gone through many facelifts over the years — including several “coma seasons” that transformed the espionage series into a film noir, adventure serial, and space opera — only to return to spy antics with greater confidence than ever. It may feel like Archer has done everything at this point, but the show is finally ready for its biggest challenge yet: an ending.
Archer: Into the Cold is a super-sized series finale that ends the long-running comedy on the high note that it deserves. Archer’s collective brain trust, executive producers Casey Willis, Matt Thompson, and producer Pierre Cerrato, get candid on bringing this...

After 14 seasons of bawdy spy hi-jinks, Archer is calling it quits — but the Fxx comedy managed to deliver one final twist on the way out.
If you haven’t watched in a while, here’s a quick update: Lana is running the spy agency now after the departure of Malory (voiced by the late Jessica Walter), and the agency has a sassy new British spy, Zara Khan, played by Natalie Dew. Other than that, it’s pretty much business as usual in Thursday’s series finale, with Archer and his pals springing into action when a fleet of killer drones start murdering ex-iia employees.

Review: Fourteen years ago, Archer debuted on FX and introduced the world to the best spy comedy on television. Led by H. Jon Benjamin’s pitch-perfect vocal performance, Archer skewered everything from James Bond to Mad Men and more over its decade and a half on the air. Adam Reed’s series has been consistently hilarious, with multiple forays into genres like noir, science fiction, and an homage to Miami Vice. Now, the final season of Archer is here, and it is thankfully just as great as the thirteen that came before it. Rather than spending time rehashing and reflecting on jokes and plots from prior years,...

Isabel Herguera’s upcoming feature debut “Sultana’s Dream” will be divided into three parts, San Sebastián-born animation artist said at Annecy.
“Innocently enough, I thought it would make things much easier. It didn’t,” she deadpanned, comparing the process to walking a tightrope.
“You don’t know if you are going to fall or not.”
In the film, Inés, a Spanish artist living in India, stumbles upon “Sultana’s Dream” – a story by real-life feminist thinker Rokeya Hossain, written in 1905. It describes Ladyland, a place where women rule the country while men live in seclusion, responsible for household chores.
“Here, we do the logical thing. It’s men that pose a danger to women, not the other way around,” it was explained in the clip presented at the fest, to the applause of the audience.
Each part comes with its own visual style, said Herguera.

Bob Odenkirk is a lucky guy. For starters, he’s managed to cultivate a career path that spans multiple genres. His cult Nineties sketch series Mr Show arguably kickstarted modern alternative comedy, an area Odenkirk has subtly shaped in the years since by giving creative breaks to the likes of Tenacious D and Tim and Eric. Then a successful rebrand as a dramatic actor led to his unforgettable conman-turned-lawyer Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and its prequel series Better Call Saul, and his surprise turn as an unassuming neighbourhood hardman in 2021 punch-a-thon Nobody. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also cheated death.
He was partway through filming the final season of Saul when it happened. As production paused and the crew began setting up a new shot, Odenkirk returned to the exercise bike he often used while watching Chicago Cubs baseball games between scenes. Suddenly he fell to his knees,...

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!" These are the immortal words that begin the song "Making Our Dreams Come True," the catchy tune used as the theme song of the popular series, "Laverne & Shirley." Cindy Williams, the actress who played the perky and positive albeit meek Shirley Feeney, has sadly joined her co-star Penny Marshall, passing away at the age of 75. Williams' children Zak and Emily Hudson confirmed the passing with the Associated Press following a brief illness.
"The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed," the statement said. "Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous, and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved." While Williams' Shirley didn't possess the monogrammed "L" like Laverne,...

Prolific Argentinian filmmaker Fabián Forte’s newest film combines the best of his previous cinematic endeavors: the comedic writing and direction of his 2016 hit Dead Man Tells His OWN Tale is masterfully mixed with mystical horror of 2017's Terrified - which Forte contributed to - and once you add a dash of slapstick gore and a whole lot of heart, and you have Legions of fun!

Fabian Forte's Legions is coming to VOD on January 19th. The distributor XYZ Films has just released their trailer for the flick, which really pushes an Evil Dead angle here. I'm not saying that it isn't there but I came out of watching Legions last year with a different reaction. There is dry humor, comedic elements and characters in the institution that made me think that the iconic Spanish director Álex de la Iglesia is definitely an influence here. While I would never consider myself an Iglesia authority I’ve seen enough to pick up on his matter of fact delivery style to notice its influence here. A pair of innocents in the asylum, Roberto y Pedro, along with Olga, who fancies herself still capable...

"Her blood will be an offering for the Evil One." XYZ FIlms has debuted the US trailer for an Argentinian fantasy horror comedy titled Legions, the latest from a filmmaker named Fabián Forte. After opening in Argentina just last month, the film will be arriving in the US to watch on VOD later in January. The forces of evil descend on Argentina. Mankind's best hope, a once-legendary shaman, is confined to an insane asylum from which he must escape when the battle against demonic resurrection becomes personal - his daughter must learn to use her powers once again. Written and directed by Fabián Forte, this Argentinian folk-horror film stars Germán de Silva, Ezequiel Rodriguez, and Lorena Vega. Described as "a gory, hilarious, and heartwarming ode to The Evil Dead by way of Latin mysticism and folk legend." This does seem like it has some nice Evil Dead touches, beyond that...

Ventana Sur’s Blood Window has just announced the six Latin American titles which will feature in its Work In Progress sidebar offering, in what promises to be another year of spine-tingling genre fare not for the faint-hearted.
Titles cap the most powerful Blood Window lineup in its history, galvanised by new sections Fant.Latina, focusing on Latin American women genre directors, and Spanish Screamings, a selection of projects from Spain, whose genre auteur scene exploded into life around the turn of the century with Jaume Balagueró’s “The Nameless.” This mega offer coms as genre, despite challenges for theatrical distribution in many markets, is proving ever more a go-to choice for young filmmakers and international distributors.
The section offers producers, sales agents and distributors the chance to feast their eyes on projects close to finished and seeking post-production coin for final studio fix, or just international distribution. This year’s titles:

This article contains spoilers for Archer season 13 episode 8.
It’s extremely rare for a television series to turn out its best material in season 13, but there’s a strong case to be made for how Archer‘s latest episodes are a rejuvenated return to form that’s the most exciting the show has been in years. Archer season 13 has pushed the series and its characters to look deeply inward and the results have been enlightening for the long-term fans, but still carry weight for curious newcomers.
This season’s finale, “Dough, Ray, and Me,” carefully brings together a season’s worth of subterfuge as Archer and company are forced to confront impossible realities as they collectively figure out their personal and professional futures before martial law consumes the country. Executive producer Casey Willis and producer/director Pierre Cerato break down the events of this revelatory finale, including the trying topic of betrayal,...

HBO’s long-awaited “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” premiered to a huge audience last Sunday, courting nearly 10 million viewers on premiere night, and making actress Milly Alcock, who plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, not one, but two of the top Google trending topics related to the show.
“What?! Oh my God,” Alcock replies when TheWrap makes her aware that fans were clamoring to know more about the Australian actress, searching “Milly Alcock,” and “How old is Milly Alcock?”, as she was boldly introduced to viewers from atop a dragon, and quickly made an impression as the quietly astute daughter to the king, looking to carve her own path in a realm ruled by men.
When TheWrap catches up with Alcock just days after “House of the Dragon’s” debut, she’s just finished up some work responsibilities, and a handful of errands, including buying socks. No, she wasn’t recognized on the outing,...

It’s an extremely rare feat when a television series, animated or otherwise, is able to produce thirteen seasons of storytelling. Archer‘s journey has been anything but conventional and the silly spy comedy has experienced enough genre makeovers and stylistic experiments that a return to its espionage roots has been oddly fulfilling. Season 13 comes in after a few seasons of normalcy, yet Archer’s most recent years have provoked more change than ever before in its cast. Sterling has struggled to figure out where he belongs in a world that’s been able to move on without him, but now even the creature comforts that he’s previously taken for granted, like his mother Malory, are gone.
Sterling Archer and the rest of The Agency are forced to roll with some big swings while under the new management of Fabian Kingsworth and Iia–the International Intelligence Agency. Season 13’s premiere,...

Management changes are always a challenge, even in an animated spy comedy. Archer and his colleagues have different reactions to former competitor Fabian Kingsworth (Kayvan Novak) purchasing their HQ. “Archer definitely shrugs off Fabian as the new boss, but the others are in self-preservation mode,” Archer executive producer Casey Willis says. In the first of eight episodes, Fabian brings in the “Gamemaster” (Shohreh Aghdashloo) to pit Archer and Lana (Aisha Tyler) against each other. “The worst aspects of their personalities bubble up to the surface,” Willis teases. “Lana finally lets loose and goes day drinking!” Archer, Season 13 Premiere, Wednesday, August 24, 10/9c, Fxx...

Ask Fabien Frankel about his favorite “Game of Thrones” character, and the actor drops his head seemingly in agony.
“Where to begin?” he says with a groan. “Oberyn Martell. Tormund. Jon Snow. Mance Rayder. Brienne of Tarth. Arya Stark. Oh mate, I love them all.”
Soon enough, Frankel could join their ranks, as Ser Criston Cole, the dashing, Dornish hottie who turns multiple heads in HBO’s impending “Thrones” prequel series, “House of the Dragon.” The series — which traces how the Targaryen dynasty rips itself apart roughly two centuries before the events of “Game of Thrones” — boasts a starry ensemble, including Paddy Considine (as King Viserys), Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, and Steve Toussaint. Author George R.R. Martin created the series with Ryan J. Condal (“Colony”), who also serves as showrunner with veteran “Thrones” director Miguel Sapochnik.

Fabian Forte's recent film Legions played at Fantasia this past weekend and was just picked up by XYZ Films for distribution. But enough about that film, we've got news on his next one as it's heading into post. The new film is Juego de brujas, or Witch Game en ingles. While it appears to be not as grounded in Argentine folklore as its predecessor it nonetheless looks like it fully embraces some strong fantastical elements. Mara is a teenager, lover of the esoteric and fantasy, who on her birthday receives a gift, a virtual game that will lead her to live a magical and dangerous experience. Fabian sent along a small selection of stills. It is also good to see the go-to creepy...

Buoyed by a delightful performance from Lesley Manville as the titular character, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris manages to outshine even its effervescent lead to produce a heart-warming and emotionally rewarding drama.
The film relates the tale of recently widowed Ada Harris, who, after becoming entranced by a couture Dior dress, embarks on a quest to purchase one of her own. Suddenly, through a series of fortunate events, Mrs. Harris finds herself on an adventure in Paris that will resonate throughout both her own life and the House of Dior itself.
The heart and soul of the film rests on the capable shoulders of Lesley Manville, who delivers a tour de force performance as the title character. She is easily the aspect that draws the viewer into the film and thereafter keeps him/her enthralled by the events swirling and unfolding around this extremely likable cleaning lady.
