- Educated at Columbia University in New York, Leon Fromkess entered the film industry as a financial specialist for Columbia Pictures in 1929. He joined Monogram Pictures in 1938 as Treasurer, and several years later left Monogram to join PRC as vice president and general manager in charge of production. During his PRC period he worked closely with director Edgar G. Ulmer, and was responsible for many of Ulmer's now-classic pictures done at the studio. - Leon Fromkess resigned as President of PRC in 1945 to join Samuel Goldwyn Studios as Vice President in charge of production. During those years they produced such classics as The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", The Bishop's Wife (1947), "Our Very Own" and "My Foolish Heart". In 1951 he became the Executive Producer of Television Programs of America where he headed production on 21 TV series including Lassie, Fury, New York Confidential, The Halls of Ivy, Ramar of the Jungle, Cannonball, The Last of the Mohicans, Tugboat Annie and The New Adventures of Charlie Chan. In 1963 he returned to producing feature motion pictures including a close association with Samuel Fuller, Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss.
