- With "Der Edelweisskönig" (1939) he realised his first movie as a director. Later on he shot other well-known productions as a director like "08/15" (1954), "Weil du arm bist, musst du früher sterben" (1956), "Der Fuchs von Paris" (1957), "Weisser Holunder" (1957) and "Und ewig singen die Wälder" (1959).
