Boy is about to meet Doc, as it has been announced that a documentary on the popular series Boy Meets World could be headed our way. But before you get too excited about revisiting Cory, Topanga and Shawn, those behind the project aren’t even sure if and when it will come out.
Appearing at 90s Con, Pod Meets World hosts Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews) and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) unveiled that a crew is indeed working on a documentary about Boy Meets World, compiling what little behind-the-scenes footage there is and interviewing fans. As Fishel put it, “We aren’t even sure if it’s ever gonna go anywhere or not. We’re not necessarily intending on doing anything with it…It really kicked into high gear last year when we started the podcast and we started doing some live shows.”

Former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell will be sharing publicly for the first time his story of alleged abuse at the hands of Brian Peck, his former dialogue coach, in the upcoming docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

On Monday, the light tone of Pod Meets World, the podcast that takes an anecdote-filled walk through the episodes of hit sitcom Boy Meets World, got serious as the hosts and former sitcom stars discussed grooming, the manipulation of minors and their friendship with a convicted child abuser whom they befriended when he guest-starred on the show.
Podcast hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle were joined on Monday’s episode by family therapist Kati Morton to discuss “the difficult subjects of grooming, childhood sexual abuse and their effects on victims.” The trio, who portrayed Topanga Lawrence, Shawn Hunter and Eric Matthews on the ABC sitcom that ran from 1993-2000, agreed to be open and honest in their discussion of a person from their past whose name recently emerged — Boy Meets World season five guest star Brian Peck.

Boy Meets World alums Will Friedle and Rider Strong are opening up about the experiences they had while on the ABC show with Brian Peck in today’s episode of the Pod Meets World podcast. Peck, who had been an actor and dialogue coach on numerous kids TV shows before joining Boy Meets World, appeared as a guest star in two episodes on Season 5 of the coming-of-age sitcom that aired on ABC from 1993-2000.
The February 19 episode of the Pod Meets World podcast features show alums Danielle Fishel, Strong and Friedle discussing “the difficult subjects of grooming, childhood sexual abuse and their effects on victims” with marriage and family therapist Kati Morton. “Pod Meets World” took a break from recapping “Boy Meets World” with their latest episode.
During the Feb. 19 podcast, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle were joined by family therapist Kati Morton for an important discussion around Brian Peck, a Season 5 guest star on “Boy Meets World.” Per the episode’s official description, the group talks about “the difficult subjects of grooming, childhood sexual abuse and their effects on victims.”
The episode began with Fishel explaining that since they all agreed to be open and honest, even when uncomfortable, about their experiences, the story of Peck was one they felt necessary to share. Additionally, she noted that Friedle and Strong were recently contacted for a statement about Peck. While she didn’t explain why, that is likely because Peck is part of the upcoming “Quiet on Set” docuseries that looks at past alleged abuse that occurred on multiple Nickelodeon sets.

On the “Pod Meets World” podcast, co-hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle have often given their guests — many of whom are actors who grew up on TV in the 90s — the opportunity to debunk any headlines about them.
During the Feb. 12 episode, Andrew Keegan was ready to do just that.
“You mean when I woke up one day and I was anointed a cult leader?” he asked with a laugh during the iHeart podcast. Keegan, best known for his roles in “10 Things I Hate About You,” “7th Heaven,” “Party of Five” and for being a “heartthrob” in the early aughts, went on to explain that he moved to Venice Beach in his early 20s, and “got immersed in the culture and the community.”
“There was this interesting group of hippie types, if you will, in Venice. I’m sure if you went on the Westside, there’s definitely a lot of spirituality,...

Looks like all those early concerns about whether name stars would walk the picket line ended up being a waste of energy: a strike captain on Saturday recognized Day 100 of the SAG-AFTRA strike by calling out many of the big names who joined the rank and file in those daily protests.
“Instead of talking about who is not on the picket line, let’s celebrate the name talent who have been showing up,” wrote Chelsea Schwartz, who encouraged her followers to add to her thread.
Among those she singled out were Chris Pine, Jennifer Garner, Timothy Olyphant, Mandy Moore, Ben Schwartz, Nick Offerman, Ming-Na Wen, Sam Elliott, Jack Black, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Margot Robbie, Jon Cryer, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Jennifer Grey, Clarke Gregg, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rhys Darby, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Deschanel, Sterling K Brown, Ben Barnes, Jack Quaid, Robert Pine, Raegan Revord, Tate Donovan,...

Actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar was a teen heartthrob on the NBC sitcom Saved by the Bell. While it’s been more than a few years since Gosselaar’s day on the show, the character still follows him around today. In recent years, Gosselaar has spoken out about some of the regrets he still harbors regarding some of the show’s more questionable scenes.
Despite his reservations, Gosselaar should show himself a little grace, as should his fans, given that he was just 15 years old when the first episode of Saved by the Bell aired. Here’s a look at the ’90s teen sitcom and Gosselaar’s love-hate relationship with some of the show’s storylines.

But there was some skepticism prior to the first episode, with hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle showing concern that their behind-the-scenes stories might have an unintended consequence on viewers.
Danielle Fishel – who played Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World – recently told People that of the concerns, mainly that it could potentially skew fans’ memories of the show. “We were worried we might ruin the show…We don’t want our criticisms or our critiques or our experiences to in any way change what your opinion of the show is. Most of the cast of “Boy Meets World” reunited Saturday at ’90s Con in Tampa, Florida — with the notable exception of Ben Savage, who played the lead role of Cory on the show. Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga, appeared to address Savage’s absence without naming him specifically.
She said to the audience, “when you really commit to a relationship, when you really commit to this idea that we are always going to be in each other’s lives … that commitment to a relationship is such a lesson for everybody.”
In 2020, Fishel and costars Rider Strong and Will Friedle told Variety that Savage had apparently “ghosted” them. As Fishel put it, “He just kind of disappeared from our lives.”

As with so many shows and movies from decades ago, some storylines and plot points have become severely dated. Now, Saved by the Bell star Mark-Paul Gosselaar is acknowledging that some episodes of the teen sitcom probably shouldn’t have made it to production.
Appearing on the Boy Meets World rewatch podcast Pod Meets World – hosted by Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong – Mark-Paul Gosselaar said, “There was one where I was basically whoring out Lisa Turtle…I charged people to kiss her without her consent. On his own podcast, Zack to the Future, Mark-Paul Gosselaar previously said that the Saved by the Bell episode in question serves as an example of just the sort of material that wouldn’t fly today. “I feel a little conflicted by this particular episode.

The ’90s were a hell of a time to be a teen watching television. Steve Urkle terrorized the Winslows with his hormones and buffoonery, Zack Morris, an unchecked sociopath, ruled the halls of Bayside High, and the cast of Boy Meets World dabbled in matters of the heart, disturbing societal norms, and the multitude of ways to conduct a proper Feeny call. Unafraid to tackle harsh topics like child abuse, abandonment, and racism, people identified with the Boy Meets World cast, teens and parents included.
Initially airing on ABC from 1993 to 2000, Boy Meets World starred Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, Will Friedle as Eric Matthews, Rider Strong as Shawn Hunter, Danielle Fishel as Topanga Lawrence, William Daniels as the wisened George Feeny, Trina McGee-Davis as Angela Moore, William Russ as Alan Matthews, Betsy Randle as Amy Matthews, with Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway as Morgan Matthews.

However, Hart explained that this was just the beginning of a miserable evening. “If you look at my eyes, I’d been crying all evening,” Hart said. “I was breaking up with a boy that night because I decided I no longer wanted a relationship with him.” She added that she had been “up since 4 am” doing press for the movie, and when she arrived at the premiere, she was forced to stay in her car...

Melissa Joan Hart is revealing one of the “worst days” of her life was when she says she was nearly fired from Sabrina the Teenage Witch after doing a Maxim photo shoot.
During a recent episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong showed a photo of Hart with Britney Spears at the New York premiere of the 1999 rom-com Drive Me Crazy. The actress proceeded to recall quite the chaotic 24 hours surrounding that photo, saying, “If you look at my eyes [in the photo], I’d been crying all evening.”
The day started off rough, Hart said, because she not only was planning to break up with her boyfriend at the time, who was also in the movie, but she had also “been up since 4 a.m.” doing press. Then, once she got to the movie premiere, she remembered being told she couldn’t leave her car until Spears arrived.

Updated: A week after Dave Coulier launched a new rewatch podcast for “Full House,” the beloved sitcom he appeared on opposite the late Bob Saget, the TV actor has decided to pause releasing new episodes during the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“Though the podcast series has many episodes that were recorded before the strike was authorized, Dave assures fans of the new series that they can look forward to more entertaining content in the meantime on socials and will be back to releasing new episodes as soon as the strike concludes,” the podcast’s producers said in a statement.
Coulier posted a brief video on Instagram, writing in the caption, “While we have many more @FullHouseRewind episodes ready for release, each with a very special guest, we’re going to be pressing pause until the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved. In the meantime, I look forward to continuing to entertain you on all of our socials,...

It’s Day 4 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and Day 77 of the WGA strike.
“Discover the past, live the present and fight the future,” was an apt message from The X-Files‘ 1998 spinoff movie and it’s one that could be applied to the current actors and writers strike.
It seems timely, then, that some of those responsible for writing and starring in the long-running sci-fi hit, were outside Fox as part of an X-Files reunion.
Star David Duchovny told Deadline that there are so many issues to try and get through, particularly AI. “I think the powers that be have a lot on their plate right now with trying to figure out, kicking the can down the road with the AI stuff. What is it capable of? They’re philosophical questions,” he said.
Duchovny also highlighted streaming residuals. “We always worked in a business that rewarded success and didn’t want failure.

In the 1990s, there was an undeniable boom of incredibly successful sitcoms. The decade was flooded with sitcoms that would ultimately define that era of television. In just 10 years, viewers became glued to shows that have stood the test of time, like "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "Seinfeld," "Frasier," "Friends," and many more. Amongst the variety of sitcoms on TV, "Boy Meets World" was an instant hit, especially for younger audiences. The coming-of-age show, which first aired in 1993, followed the day-to-day lives of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), Cory's older brother Eric Matthews (Will Friedle), Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), and Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) as they navigated life from adolescence to young adulthood.
"Boy Meets World" ended in 2000, but in 2014, a spinoff called "Girl Meets World" aired on Disney Channel and ran for three seasons until 2017. Many of the "Boy Meets World" cast members, including Savage, Fishel, Friedle, and Strong,...

Danielle Fishel is Topanga Lawrence to Boy Meets World fans. From the pilot episode through the finale, Fishel portrayed Cory Matthew’s love interest, Topanga. She also appeared in the reboot, Girl Meets World, to reprise the role. Fishel was not the first Topanga Lawrence, though. The part originally went to Bonnie Mogran, but she was fired after her first day on the set. Fishel revealed in a different podcast episode that she was close to being booted from the part, too.

Actress Bonnie Morgan shared some ugly truths on the podast “Pod Meets World.”
Early in her career, she was signed to play lead character Topanga Lawrence on the show “Boys Meets World.” She talked with podcast hosts and show cast members Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle about her experience on the show and how she felt when she was fired.
“I had three callbacks,” she said. “They kept bringing me back, and … it was rooms full of people every time. And, weirdly, every time I’d audition, we’d talk a lot. Every time I’d come back, the script would change slightly, it seemed, to things we had talked about.”
Morgan felt the role was deeply connected to her. Even the name Topanga “was out of my parents’ love history,” noting they “got married in Topanga Canyon. It was the coolest thing ever.”

Before fans came to know Danielle Fishel as Topanga on “Boy Meets World”, there was Bonnie Morgan.
As viewers know today, Fishel portrayed Topanga Lawrence through all seven seasons of the hit ABC sitcom, but that was not originally the case. Instead, Morgan, a fellow child actress, had landed the role, but was swiftly fired. Three decades later, Morgan recalled the sequence of events to Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong on the Monday episode of their joint podcast, “Pod Meets World”, and, notably, the alleged reason she was really let go from the role.
Morgan remembered having multiple callbacks for the job before being cast and noticed the script would continue to change, seemingly to reflect their conversations with her. After officially landing the role at around 12 years old, the actress described her first day on set as the “weirdest day of my life.” She claimed the adults were...

Everywhere you look, the “Full House” cast is there for its fans. The upcoming ’90s Con in Tampa, Florida, will feature a panel with Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Dave Coulier, Scott Weinger and creator Jeff Franklin.
This marks the first time Franklin will be on a panel with the group since he was ousted from spinoff “Fuller House” in 2018 amid complaints of his behavior.
The group will be onsite for at the Tampa Convention Center on Saturday, September 16, and and Sunday, September 17 for autographs, selfies, professional photos ops and the full reunion panel.
90s Con was created in 2019 by Thats4Entertainment, the company behind ChristmasCon.

Boy Meets World would be nothing without the boy himself, Ben Savage – but apparently that’s exactly what it has turned into, as his former cast members are claiming that Savage pulled a Mr. Turner and just up and vanished from their lives.
In a new Variety piece, Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence-Matthews) and Will Friedle (Eric Matthews) – who co-host the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, which Savage is not a part of – reflected on the estrangement from the former Cory Matthews.
As Fishel put it regarding his beginning to distance himself, “He was very adamant that [the podcast] was not for him…He was also very clear, ‘I don’t want it to stop you. If you guys want to do it, go ahead.’ The time between those conversations and the time we actually started the podcast was a significant amount of time…We were just so,...

Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong made a startling admission while discussing their former “Boy Meets World” co-star, Ben Savage — the group hasn’t spoken to him in three years. They’ve tried, but according to the trio, he “ghosted” them.
The three actors — who played Topanga, Eric and Shawn, respectively, for all seven seasons on the hit ABC sitcom from 1993 to 2000 — are perplexed about the estrangement, given that there’s no logical reason to explain the, for lack of a better word, fallout. They said as much in a lengthy Variety profile, in which they talk about their popular iHeart Radio rewatch podcast, “Pod Meets World”.
It wasn’t always this way. When the cast reunited at fan conventions, Savage — the show’s star as Cory Matthews — was also there front and center. With so much interest still surrounding the Tgif staple, the trio approached Savage about joining them for the rewatch episode.

Will Friedle isn’t the type of person to answer his phone while at a lunch — especially at a work lunch. In fact, he may have better manners than anyone I’ve ever met. But this was an exception.
We’d been sitting for about 10 minutes — Friedle, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and me — gathered around a corner booth in a Studio City restaurant.
“Oh, my gosh, I’m sorry, I have to take this,” he says after pulling his iPhone out of his pocket. He quickly turns it around, showing the group the names that are scrolling across the screen: “Bill & Bonnie Daniels.”
It was just a check in from Mr. (and Mrs.) Feeny and no, it wasn’t a planned call. It was simply an example of how most (more on that later) of this cast is actually still close.

Danielle Fishel now realizes how inappropriate some of the comments that were made to her during her teenage years were.
During a recent episode of her podcast Pod Meets World with cohosts and former Boy Meets World costars Rider Strong and Will Friedle, Fishel talked about becoming “an object of desire at such a young age.”
Fishel played Topanga Lawrence for seven seasons on the ABC show Boy Meets World, starting at age 12 in 1993, with the show ending in 2000. She later reprised the Topanga role as an adult for its Disney Channel spin-off, Girl Meets World, from 2014 to 2017.

Boy Meets World, starring Danielle Fishel, Ben Savage and Rider Strong, was a hit coming-of-age TV series that ran from 1993-2000. It provided plenty of young viewers on-screen proxies for their own ups and downs with adolescence and young adulthood. Without a doubt, the element that made the show so meaningful to so many was the connections between the characters.
It’s hard to imagine that the show almost didn’t include one of its most famous couples: Cory and Topanga.
On ‘Boy Meets World,’ Danielle Fishel played Topanga
Boy Meets World is remembered today for its core cast of characters. That includes best friends Cory (Ben Savage) and Shawn (Rider Strong), their teacher Mr. Feeny (William Daniels), and Cory’s brother Eric (Will Friedle). The list would not be complete without Cory’s long-time girlfriend and eventual wife, Topanga (Danielle Fishel).
Topanga was an important part of the series for its entire seven-year run.

Most people would think that auditioning for an MTV reality show would be somewhat glamorous, but one person recently revealed that their time auditioning for the turn-of-the-century fever dream Say What? Karaoke was anything but.

Say What? Karaoke premiered on MTV in 1998. It was a spinoff of the popular reality show Say What?, where music videos for songs with fast or hard-to-understand lyrics were shown with the lyrics shown on the bottom of the screen.
Regular people, typically college students, would sing karaoke and then receive critiques from the judges. Celebrities like Shia Labeouf and Ashlee Simpson appeared as guest judges, and Say What? Karaoke was hosted by a series of stars like Boy Meets World actor Danielle Fishel, Dave Holmes, and singer Joey McIntyre.

Mr. Feeny must have been doing something right at John Adams High, as former Boy Meets World star Ben Savage has announced he is running for Congress in California. Now if he can get Rider Strong as his running mate…
Ben Savage posted on his Instagram this week with the caption, “I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues…And it’s time for new and passionate leaders who can help move our country forward. Leaders who want to see the government operating at maximum capacity, unhindered by political divisions and special interests.” He’s even dressed up, which beats a Phillies jersey, at least…Savage ended his post with a link to his official campaign website. There isn’t much merch–only a yard sign–but a blow-up globe would be a nice touch.

Adam Scott had a “horrifying” experience while filming Boy Meets World in 1995 – and finally addressed it with the actor involved.
The Severance star appeared in the teen series as Griff, making his debut in season two. Scott was present on set the day filming wrapped on the season, which turned into a day Scott has remembered negatively for almost 29 years.
Appearing on Pod Meets World, hosted by actors Rider Strong (Shawn), Danielle Fishel (Topanga) and Will Frieldle (Eric), Scott said: “I get to finally ask Rider about this thing – this has literally been tugging at me for 29 years.”
He explained: “It was the season finale of season two. There was a scene going on that was the last scene that would be shot for the season. I was on the side watching.
“We were all gathering around knowing the last scene was about to finish, and the scene ends. I...
