Tis the season for the seasoned!
All the other Christmas movies can go ahead, pack it up, and go home.
Why? Because Ladies of the '80s: A Divas Christmas just has that magic.
No one can quite deliver like veteran actresses, and there wasn't a single moment of this film that wasn't delightful.
Lifetime can strike gold when it comes to reuniting stars of yesteryear, from series to films for productions like this, especially Christmas films.
A Christmas Spark was the perfect Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman reunion and was one of the network's best Christmas films in recent years.
They've also succeeded in bringing us little reunions every holiday season.
But reuniting and bringing together some of the most iconic women from soaps was no easy feat, and it made for a holiday film that left viewers squealing in glee whether they were soap fans or not.

Tonight, Lifetime will jump on the sentimental trend of reuniting veteran actresses for our giddy enjoyment by airing Ladies of the 80s: A Divas Christmas, a festive romp that stars Loni Anderson (Wkrp in Cincinnati), Morgan Fairchild (Falcon Crest), Linda Gray (Dallas), Donna Mills (Knots Landing) and Nicollette Sheridan (Knots Landing).
The holiday flick from longtime producer Larry A. Thompson (Liz & Dick) follows five soap opera divas as they reunite to shoot the final Christmas episode of their long-running sudser.
“I’ve known all these ladies all these years,” he told Deadline. “We’ve worked together, made movies together, and Donna Mills I’ve managed since Knot’s Landing and I still do. So between managing Donna and being friends with the ladies, I said it might be fun to have all these ladies in a movie. Oh yes, Lifetime is back covering another V.C. Andrews Saga.
And we're back with our reviews of this utter madness. We're kicking off the cutthroat Cutlers saga with V.C. Andrews' Dawn this time.
And the generational battle of the badass blonds was deliciously epic and entertaining.
It wouldn't be a V.C. Andrews special without scandalous family secrets, shady rich people, incestual relationships worth side-eying, and deliciously evil women.
But dare one say they were fairly light on some of those things, which was a bit of a surprise.
Another surprise was just how enjoyable Dawn Longchamp Cutler (?) was as a protagonist.
No offense to some of the other V.C. Andrews' girlies, ahem, Heaven, let's be real, it's freaking Heaven, but for the most part, Dawn at least seemed like she had full control of the brain cell at all times, if you catch my drift.

Lifetime isn't Lifetime without V.C. Andrews's book-to-screen adaptations!
And we know you're excited about the four-part Cutler Saga, kicking things off with the first in the series, Dawn.
We can already tell you it's pure campy fun, and the cast is no joke.
We had the opportunity to sit in on a presser with the cast of Dawn, with a special appearance by V.C. Andrews' ghost writer, Andrew Neiderman.
It was all copacetic as everyone discussed how they got into character, gushed over star Brec Bassinger's performance and work ethic, and expressed all the fun they had filming this piece.
Fortunately, TV Fanatic got the opportunity to jump on Zoom with star, Bassinger, to discuss what it was like to play the film's titular role as we follow her through her journey from adolescence through adulthood.

Ava DuVernay has ended her rich overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, multiple sources confirm to Variety.
While news of this decision comes amid the writers strike, the contract talks were unrelated. DuVernay’s deal was set to expire on May 31 and the two parties came to a “mutual decision not to renew.”
DuVernay signed the multi-year agreement in 2018, which was reported to be valued at $100 million, following the parties’ successful collaboration on OWN’s “Queen Sugar,” which signed off last year after seven seasons.

Blair Underwood, Finn Wittrock, Victoria Pedretti, Isha Blaaker, Leonardo Nam, Donna Mills and Emily Yancy have been added to the ensemble cast for Ava DuVernay’s latest film, the adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.
They join a cast that already includes Aunjanue Ellis in the lead role, plus Vera Farmiga, Niecy Nash, Nick Offerman, Jon Bernthal, Audra McDonald and Connie Nielson. Writer-director DuVernay is producing Caste alongside Paul Garnes of Array Filmworks.

Underwood worked with DuVernay on the limited series When They See Us, and his credits include Showtime’s Three Women and Netflix’s Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madame Cj Walker.

The career arc of actor Chris Pratt has been an unusual roller coaster. In his early 20s, Pratt landed a regular role on the maudlin WB drama series "Everwood," wherein he played the character Bright, a sullen young man who accidentally injured his best friend in a car crash. Throughout the 2000s, Pratt appeared in "goofball" supporting roles in high-profile studio films like "Bride Wars" and the cult hit "Jennifer's Body." Starting in 2009, Pratt played the none-too-bright doofus Andy on the hit series "Parks and Recreation," a show so popular, it propelled the entire cast to greater stardom.
Although an expert in playing unaware and somewhat doltish characters, Pratt slowly began mutating — against all odds — into a typically handsome Hollywood leading man. When Pratt was cast in the role of Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie "Guardians of the Galaxy," his transformation was complete. He was now a flip,...

Clint Eastwood had himself quite the contradictory 1971. He starred as a wounded soldier victimized by a seminary headmistress and her young charges in the Civil War gothic "The Beguiled," directed himself as a DJ victimized by an obsessed ex-lover in "Play Misty for Me," and victimized perps and suspects with quippy aplomb as a Miranda-rights-flouting cop in "Dirty Harry." It's the most pivotal year in the star's career, the moment he proved he was willing to tweak his macho image by playing rakish, manipulative men who have their casual cruelty revisited on them tenfold. There's a guilty conscience that roils just beneath the surface of Eastwood's best work, which is probably why he remains a particular favorite of male critics. We're drawn to his characters' above-it-all curtness but empathize, quite uncomfortably, with their emotional transgressions.
These qualities needn't be a referendum on Eastwood the man, and, if you've ever read an interview with the star,...

Jordan Peele is saying yes to more “Nope.”
The writer-director revealed to The New York Times that he has more stories to tell within the “Nope” universe. The U.F.O. adventure film starred Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as Hollywood horse trainers determined to capture an extraterrestrial presence on film. Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea, Keith David, Donna Mills, Andrew Patrick Ralston, and Michael Wincott round out the cast.
Yet eagle-eyed fans of Peele’s third feature, following “Get Out” and “Us,” drew attention to an uncredited character listed as Nobody on IMDb, played by Michael Busch.
“People are doing a lot of interesting detective work, is what’s going on,” Peele explained. “The story of that character has yet to be told, I can tell you that. Which is another frustrating way of saying, I’m glad people are paying attention.”

Writer-director Jordan Peele’s third feature “Nope” is a big, bold affair, never lacking for ideas or set pieces. It just doesn’t work.
Going as far back as his sketch-comedy show “Key and Peele,” the horror auteur has always been a keen observer of media and culture, and setting this film among below-the-line players in the film and TV industry allows him to go deep on his obsessions with show business, genre and even the act of observing and being observed.
But, as with his sophomore feature “Us,” he throws out a lot of concepts that seem to require either much more or much less explanation, while frustratingly ignoring essential elements of plot and character that would assemble all of his beautiful pieces into a satisfying whole.

Expectations could not be higher as “Nope,” Peele’s latest piece of thought-provoking genre cinema, opens in theaters this weekend. And if fans of Jordan Peele know one thing, it’s that you should always expect the unexpected from him. First reactions have been largely favorable.
Anticipation for “Nope” has been building for months, as the film’s cryptic trailers have ensured that the thriller stayed on everyone’s minds without revealing much about the plot. As anticipation for Jordan Peele’s upcoming thriller “Nope” continues to build, a new announcement from Universal suggests that the movie’s place in Hollywood history is already secure.
The studio has confirmed that the film’s largest set, the fictional Gold Rush-themed amusement park Jupiter’s Claim, will be added to the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood on July 22, the same day that the film hits theaters. The famous tour contains set pieces from many of Universal’s most beloved films, including “Jaws” and “Psycho,” but this marks the first time that a film has been immortalized on the tour so soon after release.
In “Nope,” Jupiter’s Claim is operated by Ricky “Jupe” Park, the character played by Steven Yeun. The “family-fun theme park” is built around a whitewashed history of the California Gold Rush and is an important location for the UFO mystery at the center of the film.

One of the most anticipated films of the summer is “Nope,” Jordan Peele’s mysterious horror project that he promises is “the Great American UFO Story.” Fans have slowly begun to piece elements of the story together from the film’s multiple cryptic trailers. But if “Us” and “Get Out” taught us any lessons, it’s that when Jordan Peele is behind the camera, you never know what you’re going to get.
On Friday, fans got another hint about what they might be in for when the movie hits theaters later this month. Peele tweeted a link to a new website for “Jupiter’s Claim,” a fictional amusement park inspired by the California Gold Rush.

"It's a bigger adventure than I've ever tried to tell." Universal has debuted yet another intriguing behind-the-scenes featurette for Jordan Peele's movie Nope, following the other "Cinematic Event" featurette from a few weeks ago. This one focuses on the crew involved in pulling off this epic sci-fi spectacle, including a look at the IMAX (and 65mm) cameras they used to film this movie. As everyone knows from Christopher Nolan's movies, IMAX cameras a much bigger and much more cumbersome, and require entirely different rigs. Nope's cast features Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Michael Wincott, Donna Mills, and Terry Notary. The final trailer for Nope was also released a few weeks ago, but I know many are trying to steer clear of any spoilers or details about this before going in to watch. Peele has been working with Dp Hoyte Van Hoytema, who has worked on Nolan movies before,...

It’s a true spectacle in the sky.
Jordan Peele’s third film “Nope,” following his Oscar-winning 2018 directorial debut “Get Out” and 2019’s “Us,” finally seemed to reveal its plot in the latest trailer. After haunting teasers and much debate over what exactly “Nope” means, the summary of the film has been unveiled ahead of its July 22 theatrical release.
Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer star as brother-sister duo James and Jill Haywood, who run Hollywood’s only Black-owned horse ranch. Their great-great-great-grandfather was also the man in the iconic image of a jockey on a horse that made history in a 19th-century study of how to make images “move,” marking the start of motion pictures. The Haywoods look to venture into filmmaking themselves after James (Kaluuya) spots “something above the clouds,” and the siblings set out to sell footage of a UFO. The only issue? The mysterious extraterrestrials are beaming...

"You are going to witness an absolute spectacle. So what happens next...?! You ready??" Universal has debuted the main official & final trailer Jordan Peele's movie Nope, which is a sci-fi thriller involving an extraterrestrial appearance in a small town. Along with the first trailer back in February, this footage is still especially mysterious. Of course they won't reveal the truth about these UFOs that create twisters and suck people up. Nope's main cast features Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, Donna Mills, and Terry Notary. This trailer also reveals the plot is about Kaluuya & Palmer trying to capture this footage on camera, and use it to make some money. And their UFO hunter friend they bring in hints that they'll learn a lesson from trying to "climb this mountain." So very excited for this, Peele is a mastermind. This looks original and thrilling -...

Universal Pictures released the final trailer for “Nope,” Jordan Peele’s third feature film. It teases much of the movie’s previously-unknown plot, in which Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya star as the duo behind a horse training ranch for Hollywood productions, who, thanks to the aliens hovering over their property, hatch a scheme to capture and sell the first authentic footage of UFOs. Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea, Keith David, Donna Mills, Andrew Patrick Ralston and Michael Wincott are also in the film.
“Nope” follows Peele’s two previous blockbuster horror films: “Get Out” — which won the Oscar in 2018 for original screenplay and also starred Kaluuya — and “Us,” his 2019 film that popularized the term “tether,” in reference to the cast’s performances as ordinary and demonic versions of their characters. Peele has used the horror genre to comment on social issues, namely racism and xenophobia, and he is...
