The cast of A Different World has reunited for a national tour of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). During a stop in Washington, D.C., hosted by Howard University, they appeared at the White House to meet Vice President Kamala Harris and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The Grio’s April Ryan shared a portion of the White House visit on Instagram, which included Jean-Pierre leading the cast in a sing-along of the show’s theme.
The group opted for the version featured throughout the majority of the sitcom’s run, sung in the original version by Aretha Franklin.
The tour features A Different World alums Darryl M. Bell (Ron Johnson); Charnele Brown (Kimberly Reese); Jasmine Guy (Whitley Gilbert-Wayne); Kadeem Hardison (Dwayne Wayne); Dawnn Lewis (Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor); Cree Summer (Winifred Brooks); Glynn Turman (Col. Bradford Taylor); and Sinbad (Walter Oakes). They were joined by producers Debbie Allen and Susan Fales.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return to the holiday genre with Amazon MGM Studios’ The Man With the Bag.
Adam Shankman is directing the family Christmas comedy that will see Schwarzenegger star alongside Alan Ritchson, whose involvement was previously announced. Allan Rice wrote the script for the movie that counts Ritchson, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman and Dan Spilo as producers.
The Man With the Bag centers on Santa Claus learning that his magic bag has been swiped, leading Old St. Nick to team up with Vance, a reformed thief and denizen of the naughty list, to get it back. The duo also enlist Vance’s daughter and a team of misfit elves to help them save Christmas.
Schwarzenegger, who captivated Oscar viewers over the weekend by reuniting with Twins cohort Danny DeVito, stars on the Netflix action-comedy series Fubar, which is set to return for its second season.

A fascinating combination of stars is coming down the chimney for the family comedy The Man With The Bag. Who better to lead a festive film with wholesome fun than action behemoths Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson? The Man With The Bag is Schwarzenegger’s first feature since wrapping his part for Kung Fury 2, while Ritchson’s cache is overflowing after starring in Reacher, with projects like Playdate, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and Motor City on the way.

There have been some truly incredible cameos on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" over the years, ranging from all of the gang's spouses to director Guillermo del Toro, who is nearly unrecognizable as Pappy McPoyle. Often, the cameos come about because the main cast knew someone — del Toro worked with star Charlie Day on "Pacific Rim," for example — but sometimes, they really try to reach beyond their circle of friends and acquaintances. Sometimes it works, while other times they're totally out of luck. The season 4 episode "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life" is a perfect example of both, because there are some wonderful cameos and one that just sadly didn't work out.
In the episode, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) wants to publish his erotic memoirs, but Frank (Danny DeVito) and Mac (Rob McElhenney) point out that the stories inside are totally make-believe and could open them up to litigation -- for example,...

Sinbad is speaking out after his first public appearance following his 2020 stroke.
After joining the Different World cast via video for an appearance last Thursday at Morehouse College as part of the 2024 Hbcu College Tour, the comedian took to social media to thank fans for their support.
In an Instagram Reel, the 67-year-old filmed himself watching the clip of his virtual appearance.
“Man, that was so cool … getting a chance to be on a Zoom and say something to the kids,” he said. “It’s wild that the kids even know who I am. That’s beautiful.”
He then thanked “everybody who’s been praying for me and saying good things and supporting me during this time in my life.”
Sinbad added, “It means so much when I hear from y’all and you tell me, ‘Sinbad, keep going.’ Saying, ‘Sinbad, we’re sending prayers. We’re praying. My family’s praying for you.

The rules are simple: Survive 30 days while being hunted by people attempting to kill you, and win one million dollars. As long as you're with another person, the hunters will leave you alone. This is the proposition presented to Tommy Walcott by a paid-to-be-there Andy Samberg in the Hulu film "Self Reliance." Written, directed, produced, and starring Jake Johnson, "Self Reliance" taps into the thrilling anticipation of David Fincher's "The Game," but with a lighthearted sense of humor and hell of a lot of heart that could only come from the guy who gave us Nick Miller on "New Girl" and one of the best episodes of "Mythic Quest."
Tommy decides to exploit the loophole by paying a transient man named James/Walter (Biff Wiff) to stay with him 24/7. He also encounters a woman named Maddy (Anna Kendrick) who is also playing the game, and who Tommy starts to...

One thing to know about "Always Sunny" is that it isn't afraid to go dark. From Charlie getting molested to Dennis being a possible serial killer, this is a show filled to the brim with material that would be horrifying if delivered in a slightly different tone. Such was the case in the season 4 episode "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life," the one where Dennis ends up in a terrifying rehab center. There he's harassed by two patients, comedian Sinbad and musician Rob Thomas. Sinbad is a terrifying force of nature, and Thomas is his loyal, quiet sidekick. The episode ends with the reveal that this was all in Dennis's head, or was it? It's sort of ambiguous.
In the original version of the episode, Sinbad and Rob Thomas got a lot more screen time, with brutal results for Thomas. As Charlie Day explained on The Always Sunny Podcast:

The New Sherlock Holmes In Sherlock & Daughter Series (Picture Credit: Facebook)
Many people worldwide are waiting for an update on Sherlock Season 5. The British mystery crime series stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the lead roles. The last season was premiered in 2017. Many have come to acceptance that there won’t be a fifth season. Well, chances are that’s true. But The CW has announced a spin-off series titled Sherlock & Daughter, which might excite the fans of the fictional detective.
As reported by Deadline, the series will have Sherlock, a young girl named Amelia, as his daughter and even Moriarty. So it’s not going to be a melodramatic father-daughter series. The premise will be about a young American girl, Amelia, arriving in London after her mother’s murder. She learns that her father is a famous detective. Christmas just isn’t the same without Arnold Schwarzenegger – and we’re not just talking about holiday classic Jingle All the Way. Arnold has gotten into the Christmas spirit in a big way yet again this year, giving out presents at a youth center in Los Angeles, something he has been doing for over three decades. And he has a pretty sincere reason for doing so.
As he wrote on TikTok, “There is a reason I have been handing out presents at the Hollenback Center in Boyle Heights for over 30 years. When I first came to America, my friends at Gold’s Gym were so generous. They brought me in during Christmas time and made me feel so happy and included. I love being able to give back and see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they get their gifts. Merry Christmas to all!” The caption accompanied a video of Arnold handing out Christmas gifts,...

Millennials rejoice! 26 years later, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are once again serving up fast-food morsels in the achingly-awaited "Good Burger 2." Folks who grew up on Nickelodeon's kid-friendly sketch comedy series "All That" have been clamoring for a return to the chaotically unclean confines of Good Burger, and now that it's here, I'll let those whose satiric sensibilities were partially formed by the original pass judgment on the quality of the sequel.
I do, however, know Sinbad. A comedic force of nature, I first saw the man rack up multiple wins on the Ed McMahon-hosted talent competition "Star Search" in the 1980s. I remember watching him besting a young Dennis Miller; this bothered me at the time, but considering Miller's career trajectory, I am firmly in Sinbad's camp. After all, who else possessed the bravery to ask which part of the chicken produced the Chicken McNugget?

Kai Cenat is furthering his big-screen dreams with a role in a nostalgic sequel. The streaming star will make an appearance in Good Burger 2, an upcoming film led by Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.
The original Good Burger film, released in 1997, evolved out of a bit from Nickelodeon’s prime-time sketch show All That. Thompson and Mitchell were two of All That‘s breakout stars, and they created an iconic setting by depicting their adventures at a run-down burger joint. Good Burger‘s (widely-panned) trip to the big screen featured cameos from 90s icons like Sinbad and Shaquille O’Neal.
Though the Good Burger movie drew negative reviews from critics, it endured as a cultural touchstone of the Millennial generation. More than 25 years after its theatrical release, Good Burger is getting a sequel. Good Burger 2 will arrive on the Paramount Plus streaming service on November 22.

If you’re a child of the nineties, chances are you grew up loving Sinbad. Also known as David Atkins, Sinbad began his comedy career as a contestant on Star Search before nabbing his breakout role on the Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World, where he played Coach Walter Oakes; he served as a mentor to the main cast, who all played students at the fictional Hillman College. His distinctive look made him instantly identifiable, and it wasn’t long before he started showing up in movies, with roles in Necessary Roughness and Coneheads.
His career was unusual because most people went to TV after their movie careers cooled down. For Sinbad, it was the opposite. His solo TV show, The Sinbad Show, was a flop, but shortly afterwards, his movie career went into high gear, with him appearing in a string of hit movies. His biggest hit was Houseguest opposite the late Phil Hartman,...

Most comic-book movies feature a cameo or two, and Shazam: Fury of the Gods was no exception, but the film almost included a celebrity cameo which would have been amazing. Director David. F Sandberg took to Twitter to reveal that Sinbad was originally set to make a cameo in the Shazam sequel.

The tragedy of lost media is real ... especially when it's lost from everything but false childhood memories. In a truly bizarre situation, many '90s kids claim to have seen a movie called "Shazaam," wherein Sinbad played a genie summoned by a young brother and sister. But no such movie exists.
False memories can seem like a plot device out of science fiction, but they're actually pretty mundane. The human brain is imperfect, after all. What's more bizarre is when multiple, unrelated people have the same false memories. This phenomenon has been termed "the Mandela Effect," named for former South African President and anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela.
And these memories of "Shazaam" are false. Sinbad himself has refuted them via Twitter. He even suggested people are misremembering a costume he wore to host a TV marathon of Sinbad the Sailor movies as his "Shazaam" outfit. That said, he did get...

Welcome to Paramount+, home of the “Good Burger 2” movie. May Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell take your order?
Paramount+ has ordered up a sequel to the ’90s-kid classic film “Good Burger.” Both Thompson and Mitchell are coming back to reprise their respective roles as Dexter Reed and Ed, reuniting the Nickelodeon comedy duo more than 25 years after the first movie’s release.
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal,” Thompson said in a statement shared with IndieWire. “Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.

A new website shows Sinbad’s recovery process after he suffered a major stroke in 2020.
The comedian’s family shared a picture of him standing upright, using a walker to move with some assistance. The family said his healing progress has been “nothing short of remarkable.”
“Limbs that were said to be ‘dead’ are coming alive and he’s taking the steps necessary to learn to walk again,” they wrote on a website dedicated to documenting Sinbad’s recovery.
The stroke was a result of a blood clot that moved from his heart to his brain. In October 2020, doctors performed multiple surgeries and a craniotomy to reduce swelling in his brain. Sinbad was put in a medically induced coma and regained consciousness weeks later.
According to the website, Sinbad has been in intense therapy for many months and started to make “considerable progress” in May 2021 after being admitted to the California Rehabilitation Institute.

Sinbad remains on the road to recovery following a stroke he suffered two years ago.
The stand-up comedian is “fighting for every inch” as he’s currently in the process of learning how to walk again through continued therapy, according to a website linked to Sinbad’s Instagram on Monday.
In October 2020, Sinbad, born David Adkins, suffered an ischemic stroke due to a blood clot that traveled from his heart to his brain. The 66-year-old was hospitalized for nearly nine months before leaving in July 2021.

“Survival odds from this type of event are approximately 30,” the website states, while also describing Sinbad’s progress as “nothing short of remarkable.”

Strokes are serious business. You might recall that Sinbad experienced a stroke a little over two years ago, but the comedian has a long road of recovery ahead of him. According to his family, Sinbad is still learning how to walk but is beating the odds and fighting every day to get better.
A website set up by Sinbad’s family explains that he suffered an ischemic stroke due to a blood clot that travelled from his heart to his brain on October 25, 2020. He was rushed to the hospital, where the doctor’s performed a thrombectomy to remove the clot. Following the surgery, Sinbad was talking and moving, and his recovery looked very promising, but a second blood clot formed the next day, which meant that he had to undergo another surgery. Two surgeries back to back took their toll, and doctors found evidence that Sinbad’s brain had begun to swell.

FX's "Atlanta" is known for throwing viewers a curveball or two, but the show's reputation for unpredictable twists is why many will miss it after it concludes its final season this fall. Over the course of four seasons, the critically acclaimed series has turned itself into must-see TV for its bold innovation and sharp comedy, but the show's surprise guest appearances every now and then have also become a fan-favorite trend.
Though some episodes of "Atlanta" have faked viewers out with teases of appearances from folks like D'Angelo and Tupac and even made big moments out of its signature characters like Donald Glover's Teddy Perkins, the actual stars who have been seen in the series are always a real treat. Even those who were originally slated to guest-star on "Atlanta" have been a surprise for viewers.

A review of this week’s Atlanta, “The Goof Who Sat By the Door,” coming up just as soon as I draw a pair of gloves dapping over 5,000 times…
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
Late in the first season of Atlanta, we got “B.A.N.,” an episode that — excuse me, I have something in my throat—
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
Sorry. Can’t promise it won’t happen again, but “The Goof Who Sat By the Door” was just that ridiculous, just that audacious, just that wonderful. Now, where were we?

Judy Tenuta, an unconventional, often brash stand-up comic who guested on numerous TV shows and appeared in two “Weird” Al Yankovic videos, died October 6 of ovarian cancer in Studio City, CA. She was 72.
Known to fans as “The Love Goddess,” Tenuta’s stage act was delivered in a shrill, loud, sometimes gravelly voice and often included an accordion. Her style sometimes veered toward shock; one bit had an audience member near the stage open their mouth so she could drop her chewed gum in it.

During her first solo stand-up performance, Tenuta shocked the audiences by dressing up as the Virgin Mary, and after being encouraged by her friends to incorporate an accordion into her routine, she began to develop the character into her iconic persona as the wisecracking “Love Goddess.” She regularly dressed in wild costumes made up of Aphrodite dresses,...

If you told me that there was a famous actor who was secretly an all-powerful wizard, Nicolas Cage would be my first and only guess as to who you were referring to. This made him the perfect star for 2010's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." In the film, Nicolas Cage is a wizard living in modern-day Manhattan who takes a reluctant physics student, played by Jay Baruchel, under his wing as his apprentice. The title of the film gets most of that across.
As he always does, Cage brought his signature manic movement and energy to the character. Co-star Jay Baruchel remarked in an interview that Cage "has such a unique, distinct presence."
As often happens when you bring such a passionate star into a film, many of Cage's suggestions as to how the character would look and operate made it to the final cut of the film.

When Wendell B. Harris Jr. made his first — and, even three decades on, still only — film, “Chameleon Street,” he offered up a scrappy and brilliant debut venture. Based on the incredible true story of Black con artist William Douglas Street, Jr., a man of high intelligence but little formal education, the film follows its genius con man (played by Harris himself) as he sneaks into Yale, pretends to be a French foreign-exchange student, lands a job with “Time,” works as a lawyer, and even performs a stunning number of operations as a surgeon, before eventually being caught.
A witty and sardonic tale of a master impersonator with invigorating and humorous results, Harris served as the writer, director, sarcastic narrator, and star of “Chameleon Street.” The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 1989, where it took the Grand Jury Prize. And yet Harris’ career never followed the expected path of other lauded breakout filmmakers,...

It was 40 years ago, in June 1981, that Clash of the Titans, the last film to feature the stop-motion animation effects of Ray Harryhausen, was released.
Starring a then-unknown Harry Hamlin, along with veteran stars like Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith, Burgess Meredith, and Ursula Andress, the film was loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus (Hamlin), weaving in strands of other mythologies and legends and putting its hero into conflict with creatures like the Kraken, Calibos, Medusa the Gorgon and a two-headed dog named Dioskilos.
“Greek and Roman myths contained characters and fantastic creatures that were ideal for cinematic adventures,” wrote Harryhausen in his memoir, Ray Harryhausen: An Animated Life. “If some of the adventures were combined with 20th century storytelling, a timeless narrative could be constructed that would appeal to both young and old.”
Harryhausen was already a filmmaking legend by the time he began work on Clash of the Titans.

DC FanDome, the first-ever virtual showcase for DC Comics, proved that it’s still possible to put on an engaging event packed with new announcements during the pandemic. Superhero fans got first-ever looks at Robert Pattinson as the next Batman and Dwayne Johnson as the anti-hero Black Adam. James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” also showed off its star-studded cast, and Zack Snyder debuted the long-awaited trailer for the Snyder Cut of “Justice League.”
Take a look at all the trailers and announcements from DC FanDome below.
‘The Batman’
Director Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” will be a “Year Two” story from the early days of the Caped Crusader’s career. The tone is more gritty and grounded than previous iterations, and Robert Pattinson’s Batman isn’t afraid to brutally beat down criminals. His rogues gallery, including Catwoman, the Riddler and Penguin, are still young and haven’t become big-time villains in Gotham City yet.

At DC’s FanDome, most films shared major reveals like trailers, teasers, villains reveals, and more. But for some movies, the pandemic has put them even further behind schedule (or tossed the schedule out altogether), making it harder to plan the steady drip, drip, drip of promotional reveals. For the lead of 2019’s joyously goofy runaway hit Shazam!, that meant leaning into his charm and a few four-letter words at the top of his panel.
After some serious shenanigans about how little he was allowed to say, director David F. Sandberg and the rest of the Shazam! cast Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, and Adam Brody joined Zachary Levi. Brody’s late inclusion (he says he clicked on the wrong link and showed up to a Kazaam 2 event) was a subtle indicator that the Shazam family of heroes will most likely continue into the second film.

Sinbad is starring in a “Shazam” movie after all — maybe.
The actor and comedian joined Zachary Levi and the cast of “Shazam!” during the DC FanDome virtual fan convention, where the sequel’s official title was revealed as “Shazam: Fury of the Gods.”
Levi kicked off the “Shazoom” call by explaining to fans that he was “a little limited” about what he could talk about when it came to the sequel, so he invited a few surprise guests to the panel — including co-stars Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Adam Brody and director David F. Sandberg.
When Sinbad jumped onto the video conference, Levi looked surprised asking, “Sinbad, are you in ‘Shazam 2?'”
“You tell me, John Krazinski, am I? Because everybody though I was in ‘Shazam 1’ before it even existed — Google it,” Sinbad joked, referencing the internet theories that he’d starred in a comedy...

Was this really a movie sub-genre? Colorful “Middle Eastern” action-comedy-adventures loosely derived from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights? Full of harem girls, saber-wielding swashbucklers, epic set pieces with beautifully designed sets and “Arabian” costumes, camels and horses and tigers, and… comedians?
The answer is, ahem, yes. During the war years of the early 1940s, Universal Pictures made several of these “exotic adventure” pictures that capitalized on the success of Britain’s Thief of Bagdad (1940). Hollywood quickly got into this act, but like the Bing Crosby and Bob Hope “Road to…” pictures, these movies set in the world of ancient Arabia were filmed on sound stages in southern California… and it shows.

“Technicolor Sabers”
By Raymond Benson

Comedians Join Forces to Parody Gal Gadot’s Star-Studded ‘Imagine’ Video: ‘Imagine There’s No Keto…’
Josh Wolf and a host of other comedians used their coronavirus quarantining downtime to create a parody video of Gal Gadot’s instantly-viral “Imagine” video.
The clip — featuring Jeffrey Ross, Sarah Colonna, Jon Ryan, Joey Fatone, Sinbad and Brittany Furlan, among others — starts out, “Imagine there’s no keto / you have to eat mostly carbs / I bought up all of the Purell / just to wash my car.”
The rest of the lyrics make references to other hobbies and escapes enjoyed primarily by the wealthy, like dodging urban quarantines by heading to vacation homes or “only” having three cars. When Gadot posted her star-studded version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” Wednesday, one of the immediate criticisms was that it was tone-deaf for featuring rich celebrities who are quarantining in their large homes, recording themselves singing instead of making donations to relief efforts.

Last New Year’s Eve, Tiffany Haddish made headlines for “bombing” during a standup show in Miami. At the time, she tweeted a response to acknowledge that it happened and that she “prayed on it” and felt it would not happen again. Now, almost a year later, Haddish has used her new Netflix special, “Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah,” to go into more detail about what went wrong in Miami, Fla.
“I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Miami, but this is where the devil is,” Haddish said on stage. “I didn’t know; I found out.”
She shared she landed in the Florida city at around 10 p.m. on Dec. 30, the night before her scheduled show, and she had a lot of friends in town because they all wanted to be at her show. “Anybody got that one friend — that one friend that can motivate you to...
