Roumanian composer, writer, essayist and lecturer in music.
After gaining the diploma in Cernauti Academy of Music, he moved to
Rome in 1938, where he was student of the great Italian composer
Alfredo Casella. He was naturalized Italian in 1951.
In 1942 won the Premio Enescu (an eminent composing award) with his
"Sinfonietta".
In 1954 and 1955 he was a lecturer at Dartington International Summer
School in music.
In 1974 he received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Music from
National University of Ireland, Dublin.
