Last year was a standout year for animation, and 2024 is already shaping up to be another banger. While a majority of the high-profile animation releases are due out later this summer, the first quarter of 2024 has already been promising. We at /Film are constantly singing the praises of animation as a medium, and doing our best to course-correct the ignorant idea that animation is only for children. Admittedly, this list is going to look mighty small for the time being, but it will be updated throughout the year as more films become available. As we noted last year, animation is one of the only mediums where global cinema is given an equal footing to studio-produced films in America, with the artistic visuals serving as a universal language that we can all enjoy. Meaning, this list is not limited to Hollywood animation releases ... and that's a good thing. As for now,...

12 years is a lifetime in the world of television, and it's practically unheard of for an original scripted series to survive that long in the streaming era. It's even more unusual for shows to retain the same core cast once they reach 10 seasons or longer (unless they're a weirdo like "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" or an animated institution like "The Simpsons"), and yet, for the most part, that's exactly what "Bones" managed to do across its 246 episodes. Oh sure, Hart Hanson's hit procedural saw its share of turnover when it came to actors. Still, the ambiguously platonic turned romantic duo of Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) solved a surprising number of crimes with many of the same experts again and again, including Tamara Taylor's Camille "Cam" Saroyan.

"Bones" enjoyed an enviable 12 season run, but not all of the main cast was there to enjoy that success in its totality. One face who left after just a single season was the actor Jonathan Adams.
The title of "Bones" is a double entendre, referring both to physical human bones and the show's lead, Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel). Bones is a forensic anthropologist at the "Jeffersonian" (read: Smithsonian) Institute in Washington DC. She uses her skills to study human remains and help the FBI — especially Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) — solve murder cases old and new. As a police procedural with a forensic edge, "Bones" walks in the footsteps of "CSI." Only on this show, it's not the scenes of crimes that are investigated, but the leftovers.
During the show's first season, Adams played Dr. Goodman, the Jeffersonian's administrator and Bones' boss. At the end of season 1, he...

As a narrative device, time travel can potentially introduce interesting ethical conundrums to a story, especially when it plays around with established mechanics to suit its world-building. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been chock-full of intriguing stories about worlds overrun with superpowered entities, but as soon as time travel was added to the mix, the trajectory of the MCU changed forever. The Time Stone was first mentioned in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and was expanded upon in "Doctor Strange," where time reversal was an integral aspect of the central battle between Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dormammu (voiced by Jonathan Adams). Subsequently, the franchise's most ambitious foray into the concept took place in "Avengers: Endgame," which follows a time-heist plotline using the Quantum Realm as a foundation for the events that unfurled.
The McU's time travel shenanigans definitely have some loopholes when inspected through the lens of quantum physics, which is perfectly fine — after all,...

When Bones signs off on Tuesday night, after 12 seasons on Fox, it will do so as the network’s longest-running scripted drama, having solved -- according to finale promos -- 275 cases in 246 episodes. And that prolific conviction rate may not even be the most impressive thing that the series accomplished.
Because Bones -- which was based on the life and works of real-life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs -- did more than just stay on the air, leapfrogging more than 20 different time slots in its 12-year run. In a television landscape populated with morose antiheroes and sarcastic protagonists that often poke fun at the earnestness of cops-and-science procedurals like Bones, sometimes directly by name (see: American Dad, Bojack Horseman, Bob’s Burgers and more), the show was a champion of justice and evidence, science and guts, “brains and heart.” It told new stories every week, while at the same time unfolding its central characters little by little, making...

The zombies in AMC's Fear The Walking Dead are gaining ground as the calendar creeps closer to April 10th, the season two premiere date that will mark the return of faces both familiar and fresh. Today, two new actors were announced to appear in the second season of The Walking Dead companion series, while Fox's The Rocky Horror Picture Show reboot also added a new cast member.
TVLine reports that Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove) has joined Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 in a recurring role. Details on his character have yet to be revealed, but there is speculation that he will portray "Casey, a decent man who believes in civility”, someone who "is confident in an unexpected position of authority." It's important to note that casting details for The Walking Dead-related projects are usually misleading to provide secrecy, so we'll have to wait and see if the above description...

Star Wars Tales is a quarterly anthology series published by Dark Horse from 1999 to 2005. Each issue was 64 pages long and contained a variety of stories, in both number, length, content, and tone. Most stories were considered non-canonical “Infinities” stories unless canonized elsewhere (though of course, now all such stories are deemed non-canonical “legends”). In the course of its six year run, Star Wars Tales featured stories from dozens of different creators, covering numerous facets of the Star Wars universe, from serious, thoughtful tales to comedic ones to straight-up fan-demanded “what if?” type stories. Here are ten of the best, entertaining in their own right but also representative of the breadth of content available in this series (all of which are currently available to subscribers of Marvel Unlimited, and were earlier collected into six trade collections that can probably still be found on Amazon and the like).

The Taylors are getting back together! In tonight's episode of Last Man Standing that stars Tim Allen, Jonathan Taylor Thomas will make a "surprise" cameo - along with the previously announced Patricia Richardson - to help round out the impromptu Home Improvement reunion. Richardson plays Helen Potts, a divorced neighbor of Allen's character, Mike. So how did the former Randy Taylor, aka the 33-year-old Thomas, end up in the episode, as well? Thomas came to the set to help promote the mini-reunion and the producers asked if he would step in to make a cameo. Lucky for Home Improvement fans,...

Patricia Richardson has booked a guest-starring role on Last Man Standing, reuniting the actress with her Home Improvement co-star Tim Allen, EW has learned exclusively.
Richardson will play Helen Potts, a recently divorced neighbor of Mike’s (Allen) who has gotten into a bit of conflict with Mike’s frenemy, Chuck (Jonathan Adams). Hilariously enough, Helen likes to do home repairs and stubbornly insists on running her tile saw early in the morning, which disturbs the neighborhood. Helen is cantankerous and bitter about her ex-husband, who was supposedly good with tools, but more often destroyed things around their house. While Helen and Mike butt heads,...

There’s nothing like a fancy affair to bring all of ABC’s Revenge-seekers together, and Carl’s christening in the Dec. 2 episode (airing at 9/8c) will be no exception.
While it’s a given that godmother Emily would stand in a place of honor with Jack and Amanda, can we take a moment to appreciate Nolan’s presence up front?
But what should be a happy affair brings up concerns for the Porter brothers, possibly having to do with the mysterious man (guest star Jonathan Adams) who meets with Jack.

Through press release means, Square Enix has announced that, much like Sleeping Dogs before it, Io Interactive’s Hitman: Absolution features a recognizable celebrity cast.
In fact, found within the list of actors who lent themselves to the game through motion capture and recording devices, sits Powers Boothe, along with Keith Carradine, Vivica A. Fox and Shannyn Sossamon. They may not be some of Hollywood’s elite these days, but they’re quality actors nonetheless, and their inclusion should lend a lot of authenticity to the assassination-focused title.
For more information regarding November’s Hitman: Absolution and its voice cast, check out the following release:
