Charo is not a fan of Sofia Vergara. “Sofia Vergara is Charo With diarrhea.” Sofia responded at the red carpet for Machete Kills by saying “Of course she doesn’t like it. No one likes being compared with someone else, especially someone younger.”
Let’s please take a moment to mourn. The Eleventh Doctor is finished. They’ve wrapped the Christmas episode. You weren’t my favorite Matt Smith, but we will miss you.
According to Gene Simmons, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse aren’t music icons. “From 1984 until today, name one superstar that’s bigger than their music, and not just somebody that’s recorded one or two records, but another Queen or another AC/DC, or somebody with a body of work? That crazy guy who legally changed his name to " Captain Awesome " now has the official Oregon state identification to prove it. Last month, unemployed 27-year-old Douglas Allen Smith Jr. legally changed his name after a character on the TV series " Chuck ." Good thing he's not a "Grey's Anatomy" fan, "McSteamy" just doesn't have the same ring to it. Read more...

Captain Awesome is all about making the world a better place, even if it requires sharing his name.
Ryan McPartlin, who plays Devon "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb on NBC's spy comedy-drama "Chuck," is well aware of Douglas Allen Smith, an Oregon man who legally changed his name to "Captain Awesome" in November.
"I'd love to say I was totally shocked," McPartlin tells Zap2it, "but nothing our fans do surprises me at this point. Our fans are pretty damn ingenious. This is no exception to that."
He first learned about the homage from an email from his buddy.
"I was like, 'Oh, that's kind of funny,'" he says. "Then all of a sudden the emails started pouring in from all over the country. Every news outlet picked it up. CNN did a piece on it. Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today did something on it. I was like, 'Wow...

A 27-year-old Oregon man has legally changed his name from Douglas Allen Smith Jr to "Captain Awesome," in honor of a character from NBC's "Chuck" series. Smith, who is an unemployed cabinet-maker, had his new name approved last month by a Lane County Circuit Court Judge who also let him change his signature to a smiley face with arrows pointing at it from left and right. "I just thought it was really funny that Devon's father always called him Captain Awesome, because 'a poor nickname builds good character,'" Smith said about the role Ryan McPartling (pictured) plays on "Chuck."...

We think this is pretty awesome.
Douglas Allen Smith Jr., an unemployed Oregonian cabinet installer, legally changed his name to Captain Awesome in November, and already his life is changing for the "awesomer," according to the Washington Post.
How? Well, for one thing, news stories like this one are being written about him. We don't doubt that he'll make it on TV soon. If he plays his cards right, he might meet the actual Captain Awesome.
For non-"Chuck" fans, "Captain Awesome" is the nickname of Dr. Devon Woodcomb, played with good-natured panache by Ryan McPartlin. He's handsome, in shape, saves lives and is an all around admirable guy. Not a bad person to model your life after. Devon's dad gave him the nickname because "a poor nickname builds good character."
This is not the former Smith's only awesome idea. Since the name pretty much speaks for itself, he felt...

In a move that seems like it was lifted straight out of an episode of 'The Simpsons,' an Oregon man has legally changed his name to Captain Awesome. The name change wasn't in homage to lovable oaf Homer's brief stint as Max Power (a name so great it vaulted him into Springfield's power elite), but was instead inspired by the television show 'Chuck.' That show features a character named Devon "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb.
Australian news site News.com reports that Douglas Allen Smith Jr. , an unemployed cabinet maker, appeared before an Oregon judge to make it official last month. After verifying that Smith was 100% serious about the name change (and really, could anyone who wanted to be known as Captain Awesome be anything less than totally committed?), the judge approved Smith's new moniker.
Life hasn't been entirely, well, awesome since the court date,...
