A native of San Jose California, Rick Alegria studied music at San Jose State University and is a graduate of the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. He is the drum set instructor at Showcase Music Institute and Harker Academy. A 2016 inductee to the "Western Swing Hall of Fame" he placed second in the 2011 "World's Fastest Drummer" contest in Nashville Tennessee . He has performed and recorded with Bo Diddley, Maria Muldaur, Asleep At The Wheel, Commander Cody, Queen Ida, jazz-fusion group Real Time, Joan Osborn, Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello, Michael Mc Donald, Amy Holland, Jon McLaughlin (pop artist) American Idols, Constantine Maroulis, Elliot Yemen, actress/ singer Sally Kellerman, , all star country swing band "Lost Weekend", and is currently working with singer-songwriter Paul Williams Johnny Harper and Carnival, fusion band Rcubed and Chapman Stick virtuoso Bob Culbertson .
