“Now exactly how big is this algorithm?” asked the tech dinosaur Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana, as played by Saturday Night Live’s Kyle Mooney, in the Congress-mocking cold open tonight spotlighting the Facebook whistleblower hearings in DC this past week.
Straight out of C-Span and featuring a healthy dose of SNL’s regular cast (though no Kate McKinnon for the second week in a row), the all over the map skit tossed in more than a few references to Netflix’s hit Squid Game in the senators’ ignorance of the Mark Zuckerberg-founded social media giant. Then there was a nanosecond savior in Pete Davidson throwing back to the MySpace era as website co-founder Tom Anderson – but that blast from the past wasn’t enough to add meat to this thin gruel.

The name Tom Anderson means something to you, even if you cannot remember where you heard the name before. Here’s a hint: He was your first online friend. That’s right, it’s Tom. Tom Anderson, the man behind MySpace. The social media networking site that made you choose your top 8 friends and leave the left out high and dry. The social networking site that was popular prior to Instagram and Facebook. He was your friend. He was there for you. He didn’t censor you or change the algorithm or make things complicated. He just befriended you and left you alone.

Do you remember your first friend? No, we're not talking about your actual first friend that you met on the playground in preschool...We're talking your first friend on your Top 8 whose low-res photo always smiled back at you even on your most emo of Myspace days. Yes, we're talking about Tom...Tom Anderson, to be precise. The social media mogul sold Myspace to News Corp for a whopping $580 million in 2009 and promptly retired. So where is he now? He's living his best life as a travel photographer, wandering to the most beautiful places in the world and capturing photos that are pretty unbelievable. And that brings us to our next important note: Just because...

Can you believe it's been seven years since Colin Morgan's boy wizard first strode onto our screens?
The series premiere of Merlin on September 20, 2008 set us off on a magical five-year journey - one with mythical monsters, wicked warlocks and excessive amounts of bromantic banter.
Millions tuned in each Saturday night for the show's blend of fun, fantasy and friendship - because Merlin and Arthur (Bradley James) were definitely just friends, Ok? - but what's happened to Camelot's finest since that epic final episode?
Colin Morgan
The aged Emrys might still be waiting for King Arthur to revive, but Merlin lead Colin Morgan hasn't lain dormant these past few years. He appeared opposite fellow Irish legend Gabriel Byrne in BBC One's moody detective drama Quirke in 2014, was seduced by Gillian Anderson as mercurial copper Tom Anderson in The Fall and played cyborg Leo in Channel 4's smash hit Humans.

It’s overstating the case to say that nerds have become cool in recent years – but they’ve certainly come to hold sway, with the likes of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Michael Dell, Tom Anderson and many others like them now ruling the world, or so it seems. And on any given day of the week, you’ll find nerds doing real things better than so-called “cool” people. What nerds do is relevant to modern life – whilst looking the part in a pair of sunglasses and being generally relaxed just isn’t.
So, what are the top 10 things nerds do better than cool people on any given day? Voila…
1. Appreciate Technology
Nerds don’t see technology as the means to an end; it’s the end in itself (even though, ostensibly, it has a purpose). Without nerds doing this stuff for us; we’d be like nowhere man!
2. Fix It Problems
Obviously!

British crime thriller series “The Fall” has added “Merlin” alum Colin Morgan in its upcoming second season, the BBC announced today. Gillian Anderson stars on the show as Stella Gibson, a police detective investigating a series of murders in Ireland. Either the cops over there are really incompetent or this serial killer (played by Jamie Dornan) is really hard to catch, because at the end of the first five episodes making up the first season, they still don’t have him yet. Morgan is signing on to play DS Tom Anderson, a new officer brought in to help in the hunt. [...]

BAFTA and industry training group Rocliffe have selected eight TV comedy writers they deem to be the UK’s most promising, and they’re taking them on the road. Three of the scripters will head to the Edinburgh TV Festival in August and the other five will go to the New York TV Festival in October where their works will be performed by professional actors. The BBC will also pay for a full script commission from one of the writers selected for Edinburgh. The initiative hails from the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum, now in its third year of bringing talent to New York. It’s adding Edinburgh for the first time. The writers were chosen from a pool of about 500 candidates by a jury that included Jessica Hynes (Twenty Twelve), Caryn Mandabach (Nurse Jackie), Tom Anderson (Cheers), and reps from the major UK broadcasters. Film productions need to see "green" in Florida once again!
This week, Florida's entertainment industry and the overall state economy, has a chance for a rebirth and climb back to its rightful place at the top. House Bill 697 (Entertainment Industry Economic Development) is going to the floor before the House in the next few days. If passed, the entire state of Florida stands to benefit.
Rep. Kevin Ambler has been one of the driving forces behind getting this bill into legislation as co-sponsor. A former entertainment lawyer, Ambler has shown since 2003, that he knows the value of the film industry and how it can help Florida's economy. Speaking at numerous film festivals, and taking part in an array of conferences over the last year.
