Cut! 2014
Director: David Rountree
Cast (In credits order): Sam Scarber , Dahlia Salem , David Banks , David Rountree , William McNamara , Gabrielle Stone , Suze Lanier-Bramlett , Chris Moir, Allen Maldonado, Rosie Garcia
Cut! is a satire of the indie horror "industry" and a clever, dark parody of indie horror films that both embraces and sends up the clichés that we have come to expect from straight to DVD horror. It is also a very good movie that ingeniously disguises itself as a very bad one.
Travis is a manager at a studio warehouse with an encyclopedic knowledge of horror, who dreams of making a horror movie, but despite the wealth of resources around him, can't seem to come up with the resources to make his dreams come true. His friend and coworker Lane is an unstable ex-con with a penchant for pushing people's buttons.

If you thought we've backed off on those terrifying real-life stories of spiders taking over the world, you've got another thing coming... millions of things, to be precise. Photos: Daily Star In this report form the UK's Daily Star, swarms of “false widows” – a close relative of the well-known (and often deadly) black widow spider – have suddenly surged across southern Britain, and are rapidly moving into Wales and other regions. Climate change and increased adaptability to cold are cited as possible causes of the spiders' sudden mass breeding; according to the article, the surge reportedly happened in a matter of days, with some residents reporting huge numbers of them in their homes and gardens. The false widow (species Steatoda Nobilis), distinguished by a white skull-like shape on its back, is one of the most dangerous spiders in the UK. Though not usually lethal in itself, its bite can trigger violent allergic reactions.

How can a documentary about someone as funny, alive, honest, edgy, and brilliant as Richard Pryor can fall so flat? Marina Zenovich’s documentary on the comedian, "Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic," premiering at Tribeca, testifies to the comedian's humor and brilliantly dark view of the world around him. But "Omit the Logic" doesn’t show the audience anything new or insightful about him. There was magic to Pryor, but we don't see enough of Pryor being Pryor. Sure, comedians from Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Dave Chappelle, Lily Tomlin to Mel Brooks admire Pryor’s prodigious talent. But their observations are pat, their character testimonies not perceptive. They don't seem to have enough space to flesh out their ideas about the man. Comedian David Banks says, "Don't try to find no logic, a lot of this you hear, logic is omitted." This statement provides the title of Zenovich’s documentary--and...

Actor and music video director David Rountree (XXX, State Of The Union) has found his way behind the camera on Cut!, his feature length directorial debut. Rountree is wearing many hats on the Psycho Rock Productions picture, also serving as actor, co-writer (with David Banks), producer, and editor in a picture that takes filmmaking into very real, very scary, territory.
The film stars Sam Scarber, Dahlia Salem, David Banks, Gabrielle Stone, Suze Lanier-Bramlett, Chris Moir, Allen Maldonado, and Rosie Garcia. The special make up effects are by Brittany Duncan.
Synopsis (courtesy Psycho Rock):
“The apparent is never the truth as an ex-con and aspirant filmmaker set out to manufacture a horror film by scaring people for real; however, when it goes too far and someone actually dies, the pair decide that killing for real on film is the way to make a truly terrifying movie.”

Fox should send Rbc Capital Markets analyst David Banks a gift basket. His report today that News Corp is sitting on a pot of $750 million that can only be tapped if The Simpsons is canceled gives strong ammunition to 20th Century Fox TV in its salary dispute with the voice cast of the long-running animated series. The studio has been holding a hard line, insisting on a 45% salary reduction for the actors, while they have been asking for a 30% cut in exchange for a piece of the backend. But whatever leverage the cast might have had is pretty much gone given how valuable the series would be if it’s canceled. And there is speculation that the actors might agree to new deals as early as next week.

The mixtape has been released and a music video follows. "The Work", taken from Wale's August 3 release titled "More About Nothing", has been given a music video treatment which is directed by David Banks. The rapper opens the video with a narration about his achievement in being one of the best young and active rappers today.
"More About Nothing" is a sequel to his "Seinfeld" themed mixtape "The Mixtape About Nothing" which is considered Wale's most successful effort so far. His debut album "Attention: Deficit" was a disappointment in sale when it was dropped last year, selling about 28,000 copies in the first week. However, "More About Nothing" scores better in download by getting reportedly 100,000 hits in less than 90 minutes.
Still, Wale is not satisfied with the number. In an interview with MTV he said, "It damages your pride, your ego, it makes you think you're not doing something right. I...

The aliens from Sony's "District 9" scored big during The Hollywood Reporter's 39th annual Key Art Awards.
Honoring the best in movie marketing, Friday's event at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles saw "District 9" take home 11 awards, including the best-in-show prize for its integrating marketing campaigning as well as three other best-in-show laurels for its outdoor advertising (built around its "Bus Stop for Humans Bus Shelter"), TV spots and digital campaign.
The awards ceremony culminated with Sylvester Stallone receiving the Visionary Award, given annually to a filmmaker who inspires movie marketers.
"At the end of the day, there is no question that Sylvester Stallone delivers great product," THR publisher Lori Burgess said before calling Stallone to the candlelit stage at what once was the altar of the former St. Vibiana Roman Catholic cathedral, which has been converted to a party space. "He's put his stamp on film like very few people of his generation.
